This is a small, quaint boutique sort of place. It wasn't too difficult to find and, on arrival I parked in a space to the side of the property and went to check in. By the way, the proper place to park is at the bottom of Amelia Road where space had been reserved for hotel guests.
We had arrived just after 13:00 but nonetheless our room was already available (at no extra cost!) which was nice. It was tastefully furnished. The room itself was hidden towards the back of the property. We found it to be quite cosy. There was a smallish double bed, two arm chairs, a high bar room type table and a couple of tall chairs. There was a bathroom with a good sized walk in shower. They lacked the usual toiletries but that wasn't a problem as we had brought our own. The was also a small kitchen area with a sink and fridge and coffee/tea making facilities.
We struggled with the WiFi which was a bit hit and miss. Admittedly we had special requirements as we were trying to watch live an important soccer match 6 hours ahead of us in Germany. Eventually we managed on my laptop. Oh, and the aircon was quite loud - we just switched it off so that we could sleep properly .
There is a tiny pool in the petite garden area. If anyone has a routine of swimming 50 lengths of a pool before breakfast then they'd manage that quite easily here. I liked grabbing a hot coffee by the pool and supping it quietly on a sun lounger by the pool as the day slowly got going. The guys at the reception area were all warm and friendly. They kindly joined in with my banter which was nice. We should have stayed longer but we were on a tight...
Read moreWe really enjoyed staying here! The suite was GORGEOUS and clean. It was on Duval and everything we wanted to do was walkable, but it was far enough from the "party" end that it was quiet enough to sleep.
We did at one point have a rooster trapped between our building and the next row of stores and he was loud and disruptive, but with wild roosters all over Key West that's to be expected.
I did have to take a star away though for security. The suite is on the upper level and has a beautiful balcony that overlooks Duval. However it connects to the balconies next to it and behind it with only a little railing between. In the middle of the night, the intoxicated people in the unit behind ours jumped the railing and were walking around and partying on our deck and tried to enter our suite at 2 different doors (both locked thank god). One was a bedroom and they scared the couple staying in there half to death at 3 am. When we called the front office about it in the morning (they don't have overnight staff) we were told that the unit behind "isn't their unit" so they can't do anything about the people staying in it. I'm sorry, but if you rent out a suite you own in a building, you need to know who owns the other suites and have them on speed dial to take care of issues like this.
Overall we'd stay here again, the rest of the staff was very sweet and helpful and it really was a gorgeous suite. But LOCK YOUR DOORS because anyone can just jump the railing and be on your deck and the hotel apparently can't do...
Read moreI stayed here for a few nights. This was an adorable, homey kind of place. This small boutique hotel felt pretty cozy. There's a small pool and some areas to lounge in and read a book. I enjoyed the sounds of a water creek in the area and the surrounding plants, which made me feel even more relaxed.
The services provided by the staff was excellent. There was a time when I needed to clean a small wound, and they had a first aid kit to assist. The staff here is quite friendly.
The location was also nice. We pretty much walked and rode bikes all over the neighborhood. Restaurants and cafe shops nearby. Lots of places to walk to.
The parking lot can be limited depending on when you park your car. Not sure if it's like this all the time or only during peak season, which is when I went. I did however got lucky and found a parallel parking spot in the neighborhood that wasn't marked as "residential".
I also did not like the carpet situation. It definitely needs to be replaced and was not appealing to look at, as it was extremely dirty. Not sure if this contributed to the warmth of the room and to the insect bites that I received each night. For the type of weather in the area, I think wood flooring with an area rug, or a low pile carpet instead would be best.
I would stay again, but maybe in a different room that's a little more clean and updated.
Overall, it was the type of service received, the surrounding hotel facilities, and the location that would want me to stay here. ...
