Best Western Hibiscus Motel — Attraction in Key West

If you’re looking for a bougie hotel where they’re going to have wine and beer tastings poolside - The Best Western Hibiscus Motel in Key West is not where you will find it. However, what you will find is everything you need to enjoy your stay while in Key West. For starters, the location cannot be beat! It’s walking distance to some great eateries. The Conch and Cuban is one for sure not to miss out on. There’s a scooter rental shop within walking distance as well. The Southernmost Point Buoy is right there as well. In addition, a CVS with groceries and beverages is right around the corner. Upon arrival at the motel, we got there around 11:30am expecting just to stash our luggage in the lobby while we got something to eat and looked around until we could check-in only to be surprised with an early check-in of noon! Not to say you should expect this but seems like when possible, they do try to get you into your room as early as possible. Upon our return, we got the keys to room 209, a king room with a pool view. The room was very spacious. There was a sofa, TV, dresser, 2 bed side tables, an end table by the sofa, a nice sized mini-fridge, microwave, and they even give you some plates, utensils, and microwave popcorn! Bathroom is standard with towels, hairdryer etc. Soaps are in dispensers on the wall. The AC worked great as well and in Key West that’s a must! The pool is beautiful. Plenty of lounge chairs and tables. They have some nice cushioned lounge beds as well that were coveted by many guests as prime sleeping and reading spots. Pool towels are provided in your room daily and refreshed by housekeeping. Their included breakfast has fresh fruit, cereals, muffins, bagels, breads, juice, milk, coffee, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy, bacon, and make your own waffles. The selections may change but these were my observations as we passed through the breakfast area daily. Housekeeping is spectacular. They will clean your room daily if you want or not if you don’t want. They will just give you fresh towels - whatever you need, just ask. The room always smelled and looked so nice after they spruced it up. After we checked out, the motel again allows you to keep you luggage in the lobby. You’re welcomed to use the pool until you depart which was a nice way to spend a couple of hours before leaving for the airport. We found the staff at this motel to be one of its best amenities. Angie at the front desk, helped me keep an eye out for my incoming package. And Will, the evening desk attendant, had some excellent restaurant suggestions. They were nice people to talk with and they make the place more pleasant to be around because you feel welcome. So, if you’re looking for a motel that is in a safe location, won’t break the bank, is clean and fresh, looks nice, has a spectacular pool, has even more spectacular people working there then this is your place. (Deutsche Bewertung weiter unten) We chose the Best Western for its central location and, of course, the price for one night (4 people). It was really unbeatable! The staff was anything but friendly. We would be looked at from top to bottom as if we were aliens! After all, we did not stare at the young lady at the reception just because she's black! The check-in was quick and easy and we could choose the room. It was big and very clean with everything you need! Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, TV etc. The beds were very comfortable and big enough for us and the kids. Only the air conditioning was a little too loud. The breakfast was very rich and delicious. Since only 3 tables are available, you should go early enough, otherwise you have to sit in the pool area or take the food to the room. The pool is big and very clean. So also the entire system! The check-out went quickly and then there were friendly staff. The parking is large and free but there are close parking spaces. We got scratches and bumps in the back door. Conclusion: if we come back to Key West, we will get a room here again!

Wir haben das Best Western wegen seiner zentralen Lage und natürlich wegen des Preises für eine Nacht (4 Personen) gewählt. Er war wirklich unschlagbar! Das Personal war alles andere als freundlich. Wir wurden von oben bis unten betrachtet, als wären wir Außerirdische! Schließlich haben wir die junge Dame an der Rezeption auch nicht angestarrt, nur weil sie schwarz ist! Das Einchecken war schnell und einfach und wir konnten das Zimmer auswählen. Es war groß und sehr sauber mit allem, was man braucht! Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, Fernseher usw. Die Betten waren sehr bequem und groß genug für uns und die Kinder. Nur die Klimaanlage war etwas zu laut. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig und lecker. Da nur 3 Tische zur Verfügung stehen, sollte man früh genug gehen, sonst muss man im Poolbereich sitzen oder sein Essen mit auf das Zimmer nehmen. Der Pool ist groß und sehr sauber. Als auch die gesamte Anlage! Das Auschecken ging schnell und da war dann auch freundliches Personal. Der Parkplatz ist groß und kostenlos, aber es sind enge Parkplätze. Booked a room in October for 2 of us to stay in during March. We were never told that we needed to be 25 at the time we booked. Even got a confirmation email from best western that never mentioned having to be 25. Came to check in at hotel and the staff had an attitude right away. Yes they helped us find a hotel that was right across the street but in doing so was not kind. They we’re clearly annoyed, frustrated, and didn’t care that the email didn’t mention having to be 25 years old. When we booked in October there was no pop up box that said confirm you’re 25 even though the staff claimed there was. They claim since they are independently owned that they sent another confirmation email that says having to be 25 years old at the time of the booking which was never sent to us. We got that email on the same day we landed at the airport. Clearly this hotel and best western need to communicate so they send the same confirmation emails. I even showed the staff the email and he couldn’t find the 25 year old statement and then said “oh that’s because that’s from best western”. Well yeah because I booked with best western…. Anyways they were nice enough to help find another hotel across the street that “fit more our age and kind” (according to what they told us). I will not be booking to stay here again because in October when we booked the room and even called to confirm it was okay nothing was said that we had to be 25 years old. They even told us a pop up box had to be clicked when confirming room which did not happen. It seemed as if they were lying through their teeth and change the policy during spring break time in March. We are not the only ones to have this issue either. Luckily the other hotel had a room left for our stay otherwise we would have been in a bad situation. Overall the place looked really clean but the staff was very rude and looked at us two like we were some crazy college kids when in fact we didn’t go to Fort Lauderdale with our friends and “our kind” because we wanted a more chill laid back time. This place should clearly work with best western to make sure everything in the emails etc...
