SIX POSITIVES AND ONE NEGATIVE
I haven't been to a movie in the theater since at least 2019 (not entirely Covid related. We had young children).
I took our kids to a movie at the Grand downtown recently, and we had a few takeaways:
it was a Friday night, and the place was almost dead. That made it nice for us because there was no waiting for anything. But I was surprised. There were no new openings that weekend, so that probably contributed.
we really appreciated the service. Both at the ticket counter and the concessions, the staff was courteous, engaged, and informative. They actually saved us some money by highlighting various opportunities.
My oldest son (11yo) also remarked at his clean it was.
We just had popcorn and soda, so we can't comment on the food options.
There were a few intense scenes in the movie we watched, which spurred our 6yo to crawl on my lap (the villains in Wonka were particularly convincing to her). I was very thankful for the comfy dreamlounge seats. Felt like home.
Our kids also thought the vault door that was preserved from an old bank was a really cool part of the architecture. In their words, "it looks like the vaults in Fortnite!"
The only negative was that the online ticket sales didn't have all the showings. We booked ahead. Although we enjoyed the movie we saw, if we had all the options when we purchased online, we would have picked a different movie. If you're planning a family outing, you might want to call rather than rely on the website.
Overall, it was a great place to enjoy theater...
Read moreWent to a mystery movie and fell in the theatre. Look up and a couple is watching me on the floor and keep in mind Im disabled. They did nothing to help me up or come to my aid. I make my way to my seat with my disabled son cover in soda and in pain so I collect myself so wanying to go because of severe pain and emotional humiliation and sadness. My son begged to stay being a special needs child so I stay. I went out to tell them I fell and spilled my drink on the steps where I fell but no response or concern from any employee. When we left I reported again and the young man just handed me the number for Marcus Grand. At that point I just needed to leave because the employees showed no concern at all. When I called back the next day a manager apologized and said they had enough management that night and they should had handled it. I had some company call me who handles Marcus Grand tell me that they're up to code and their not liable for anything. So now I have to find a attorney to never let this happen again. I suffered a slight concussion, bruised ribs, trouble breathing, re-damage my carpal tunnel surgery and sprained my ankle having to pay out of pocket for adult care and in house care expenses. It concerns and disappoints me that its ok for them to leave a disabled person lying on the floor and never checking to see if they need any help or...
Read moreIt's a decent movie theater. Has everything you would expect in a movie theater but I mean that's their job. Besides the basic it's really not that great, AT ALL. Unless it's like a teenager working, all the other staff are rude. Inconsistent with "guidelines" for student Thursday. Sometimes they ask for student ID AND state ID!! Sometimes they ask for student ID, sometimes they don't ask at all. The theatres are disgusting I have a hard time enjoying myself in the recliner seats because I'm just thinking about all the nasty things I'm sure have touched the seat and have probably NOT been wiped down. I don't think they sanitize the seats. If they are sanitizing the seats then..... They're not doing it good enough. But the worst part of this theatre and mostly all the Marcus Theatres in Lincoln are the bathrooms!!!!! GROSS!! The bathrooms are unbearably disgusting. I went in there, then 2 weeks later I used the restroom again and it looked the exact same! I honestly don't believe they clean their bathrooms. Which is terrible. And that is the reason why when I'm in the movie theater I can't stop thinking about the germs everywhere. Because if they don't even clean their bathrooms, do you think they're cleaning the reclining...
