Summary: Rude staff, stinky helmets, horrible customer service - DON'T GO.
You are likely to be a passenger or carry one for your entire ride:
We had a group of 8 people, we've made a reservation in advance. When we showed up - we were told that one ATV broke down and somebody will have to "double up" - (i.e. ride on a back as a passenger) until they bring down another ATV - they never did. There were 2 guides and only one guide had an ATV for herself, the other guide "doubled up" with yet another person from our group - I guess it is somehow our problem that they don't have working equipment even for their own staff.
Riding with a passenger on an ATV is definitely A LOT LESS FUN than riding by yourself. You constantly think about other person's safety, you tend to drive slower, it basically ruins everything. Had we been told that we will have to "double up" - we would not have bought this service.
Once the tour was over, we asked for a refund for those people who had to carry a passenger or be one, as this was clearly not what we paid $99 for. We were only offered one refund and were accused of attempting a "theft of services" should we dispute our transactions through the credit card company.
We even wanted to see if there is any kind of fine print on the waiver that we've signed, to make sure that we are not being unreasonable. When we asked for a copy of the waivers, which had our personal information and credit card numbers on, we were DENIED. This was very suspicious. If my credit card gets stolen - I will report this business to authorities. I advise you to do the same.
Equipment was dirty, helmets were stinky, ride was boring: Your ride begins literally on the side of the highway. There is no parking lot, there are no facilities. You leave your car there, hoping to find it there when you come back. Nobody disinfects the helmets between the rides. Helmets smell like feet, and you have to wear them on your head. I hope that none of us got lice.
Both guides were extremely rude. They didn't shy away from screaming at people to bring their attention to safety, instead of calmly and professionally communicating their requests.
Ride was and VERY BORING. You essentially drive a clunky ATV around a small patch of forest in all possible directions. It felt like going for a walk in a living room. It was also very slow. I ride faster on my mountain bike.
DON'T BUY THEIR INSURANCE: They also tried to sell us the most useless and expensive insurance ever, which wouldn't even cover YOU if you got hurt.
Conclusion: This business doesn't care about your safety - if they did - they would offer you an insurance policy that actually covers you. This business doesn't care if you get lice - they would sanitize their equipment like F1boston does. This business will violate your rights as a consumer by denying you access to your own personal and financial information. This business will...
Read morewe went up to see the ice castles and we were looking for something else to do. this guided 1-hour snowmobile tour was the best part of the whole trip. You have to dress for it. you have to bring gloves, winter coat and ski pants at the minimum. It was very easy to do. you only had a minute to get the hang of the machine and then once you figure out how to stop the lens from fogging up on the helmet which they do provide helmets, I simply lifted it up an inch. some people drove with it all the way open but that was a little cold. The tour starts off on a private area. it lets you get the hang of the machine and then you get out to the scenic railroad trail that goes right into Woodstock next to the dinner train and then it goes back the other direction and I think the total mileage was a little over 13 miles. The tour was between an hour and an hour and a half.👍 there were three rentals that we had and they were all Polaris indys lxt 550cc 2-strokes. The hand warmers were super warm and the machines because their two strokes really have a tremendous amount of power. I think I read the top speed was only 70 mph but we didn't go over 30 on our tour. our guide had to be the best tour guide ever. we were late and she was very understanding. oh, and the tour isn't at the outback kayak storefront It's about 8 minutes away from there in Woodstock. they give you directions how to get there on the day of your tour. Don't be like me and assume you know how to get there and end up at the store 🤦. that being said, we were alongside a river where you have to take the railroad tracks we went under or through some pretty cool railroad bridges. we went under the highway and we got to see the dinner train. You can definitely see some mountains also. don't hesitate to do this tour even if you think it's too much or you can't handle it, it's super easy. Even for people that were overwhelmed at first, when they finished they said they loved it. Plus you want to do these things while...
Read moreSome good and some bad parts. Booking the actual snowmobile tour was downright miserable and we almost cancelled the entire thing altogether. I called because I’d purchased a Groupon and got my head chewed off as a result by a woman who answered. They HATE Groupons and seeing prior reviews apparently this reaction has happened several times with their unprofessionalism. I wanted to schedule a 30min beginner tour (it’s on their website) because we’ve never done snowmobiling before and don’t want to slow anyone down. I was told that’s not enough time and to do a 60-90min tour and cancel the groupon (they’d honor it anyway). Groupon gave me a hard time but I ended up getting a credit (so in reality this cost me way more money) and then called OBK to schedule a 90min tour as the Groupon said 60+. All of a sudden that time didn’t exist despite being on their website (so many things just didn’t add up and the attitude from the person was wild). They did however honor the new Groupon as they said they would (thank you again). I also was given a hard time for wanting a 13 and 14 year old to be drivers (they just need to be 12 and have a NH license) to the point that we ended up only doing adults.
When it came time to arranging meet up spots the staff was much more pleasant on the phone. And for the actual tour we ended up having a private one with Butch and MM (I don’t know how to spell his name so I apologize). They were awesome! Very nice, very professional and also very early which was fine/appreciated because of the long drive home. The tour lasted an hour, we were shown the controls and felt comfortable at all times.
We would like to look into it again for the kids but are hesitant because of the booking process we went through. The staff for OBK need severe improvement/manners when it comes to booking...
