I want to start with this: If you are looking for ocean horse back riding, this is the best company to go with!
Me and my cousin had a very bad situation happen to us recently, but we already had the scheduled appointment to ride the horses and decided that it will be good for our mental health to come out.
Once we got there the staff was extra kind and sweet to everyone. Very caring and very loving towards both their clients and their horses.
I had literally the best time of my life, horses are well trained and kept. Staff is very sweet and friendly. Truly it was best time and I was feeling so much better by being able to just relax and let go of the stress.
Now on a specific situation that made me upset, team asks people to show up 15 minutes before the ride starts so that the waiver can be signed, and rules explained. (The rule to show up before start time is very understandable) A family that was scheduled with us at the same time shows up as we are being put on the saddles and about to leave. Very kind staff decides that they will still let them ride so we wait for them to get their helmets for the kids and sign waivers. Already the family was acting out and didnāt want to follow the rules from the start. Doing everything extra slow even though there was 3 other groups waiting on them. When we went out to the ocean we had a few of the staff members with us guiding the horses and group, and they also were ensuring everyone gets at least a few pictures of them (which I didnāt even think they would do and thought it was so sweet of them to go out of their way). The head of the family that was late didnāt think so, he wanted to stop the group take pictures only with the family as a group, started making demands and caused a scene. One of the staff was a 13 yo girl that was very good at what she was doing, but then ends up being yelled at by someone who has a son older than her riding with him. I thought that was ridiculous and in case they want to leave a review I want to leave one of my own as well, because No you are not entitled to a special treatment and if you do want it, come by earlier and ask politely in advance. I think if that was communicated in advance they would have made that work for them.
Once again I really recommend this place, the owner is very kind and the family working there really ensures everyone is safe and has the best time possible!
Ps if you are a reading this, I didnāt catch your name, you are amazing and donāt let some grown man who was rude harden your heart. For someone your age you are absolutely amazing at what you do. Keep up the good work! (Iāll definitely be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI apparently did not do my research well, so hopefully this helps someone else avoid a similar incident. Scheduling was easy, and I booked a ride at 2:30 for me and my 8 year-old daughter and 6 year-old son. I double checked to make sure they were old enough, and I was assured they were. I have a lot of experience as a previous 3-day event rider for 15 years. My kids do not have much experience at all. They were running late, which is understandable, and they were polite about the delay. Then, things seemed much more chaotic. I asked for helmets for the kids, because I would not allow them to ride without, and they did manage to dust some off for us. They then plunked us on our three horses with some guidance. We sat on our horses for about 45 minutes while they worked on fixing our gear to accommodate the kidsā smaller legs and arms - there was little to no explanation about what was going on. The horses walked off to go graze while my kiddos were nervously trying to stop them. I was nervous, because their setup had a lead line attached to the horses harness and tied under the belly to the cinch, Iām assuming to prevent the head flipping up and giving the rider a bloody nose (been there before); however, while grazing, the horses could have easily stepped through, and that would have led to a severely scared horse even in the best of horses. I commented, and was told that they ācouldn't lift their legs high enough for that to happen.ā Not true, but I continued to watch closely. I was able to control my horse, but again, I have experience. I figured that their behavior would change once the ride started ⦠and it did, but not for the better. Bambi, who again, is very nice, tried to control my 6 year-old sonās horse by having him on a lead, but her horse did not get along with his horse, and they started fighting, which scared my son. We got about 40 feet onto the trail, and my daughters horse trotted home while she tried her best to stop him. I called it quits, jumped off, grabbed my son off while my husband grabbed my daughter, and we bailed. I have never written a bad review in my life, but this needs to be said. This is , unfortunately, not a safe place. I would highly advise against riding with them unless you have an abundance of experience. We have a scheduled a ride with the other group right across the street who have reviews aplenty concerning their safe practices. I recommend scheduling with West Coast...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe most unprofessional establishment Iāve ever encountered. We took our 2 daughters to ride on the beach and they are experienced riders. No instruction was given to any of the riders before they began except to say āyou can trot on the beach if youād like.ā Anyone with horses knows that if one horse begins to run the others will likely follow. As soon as the horses got to the beach 4/10 of them took off in a full sprint throwing 4 children (all under age 13) onto the hard sand. My daughter got a concussion as no helmets were offered or provided. 3 horses ran so far down the beach they could no longer be seen.
We understand the risk of riding horses but the way this was handled was extremely inappropriate. I was not called or notified my daughter fell off the horse. A woman who had a child riding witnessed the fall and called the office to let them know. They said āone child slid off the horse but sheās fine.ā They forced all children to get back on their horses and told them it ultimately was their fault they fell off because they didnāt pull back hard enough on the horse. The horses and all guides are all untrained and novists and after they returned from the ride they said nothing and acted like everything was okay and began to put new riders on the horses. I am a RN and am mortified that my daughter couldāve been trampled or even more seriously injured. The owner said āyou signed a waiver and horses are unpredictable.ā I agree with him in that these horses are EXTREMELY UNPREDICTABLE. They are concerned about making money. Safety is of the lowest priority. We have done many rides as a family and have never experienced anything close to this. Please stay clear of this establishment. One of the children that was thrown off her horse was only 4 years old. ...
