Spooky Date Night In Hollywood

Accidentally walked in with my friend today, did Cursed crypt. Linear game, good for a couple of people, probably not fun for a group since there’s only one thing to do at a time. Decorations of the whole place are ambient and neat, room really needs more stuff to interact with, everything is either fake or empty. Had to call for a clue almost each time, cause there’s not much logic behind the puzzles, and things are not connected at all. Also so dark, barely can read/find things sometimes. I’ve done around 10 games, usually with just two people and that’s the second one we failed. This game said to be 40% success rate and easier one had 60% I think. Others 20%. Puzzles were interesting, but overall experience wasn’t fun. This place is touristy and many people won’t be proficient escape room players, neither they come back again, so I don’t really understand the point of hard games, there’s not much satisfaction.

This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! From the very start, Lee really got things going with his sense of humor and attention to detail and everything that he did to stay in character. David really took his time to explain the rooms to us and just to spend time with us in general it was slow but they both really took the time to make our experience the best it can possibly be. If I could offer one bit of advice if you’re going with friends to make sure to work together and to tell everybody else in your group what’s going on with your experience. We lost a lot of time trying to figure things out on our own and not working together. I highly recommend going here but watch out for Lee! He’ll get you every time if you let him LOL Thanks for an awesome time!!

The immersion is grand in the lobby and hallways, but I feel they slacked on the rooms. The puzzles jump logic and it’s only difficult because you either get so badly bottle necked that you’re standing behind the only person that can work the puzzle for the next 15 minutes or you have the correct code and it’s just not working. 3 different times we thought we had the wrong code for 3 different puzzles but it turned out we had them right, they’re just super sensitive and if not timed perfectly, they won’t work. The puzzles don’t fit the themes. They’re just kind of thrown about which stinks. These could be epic rooms if they really thought about the puzzles and the correlation. Won’t be returning unfortunately.

Edit to Owner: If you reread your low reviews, you’ll see that they’re talking about the same things we are, so no, I’m honestly not the first. You may want to talk to your staff about changes that could be made. They informed us before stepping into Resurrection that there’s a puzzle that almost no one completes and there’s an option to skip it. Good puzzles shouldn’t need to be skipped. I’ll leave details out as I don’t want to ruin it for other players who may read this.

The pipe puzzle: It got to the point where I sat on the floor and waited for my friend to do it while the others stood around. There was nothing for us to do.

The lights/picture/button puzzle. Super simple order. But nothing was happening. Finally the game master said we had the right order, we just need to hold it longer. Chewed up our time for no reason.

The grand finale puzzle. We had the order correct. Checked it twice. Finally hit the answer button. Checked it again. It was correct. We ended up wiggling the wires and finally something happened.

You have the greatest potential to be the best. Just take the time to acknowledge the same complaints...

This review is for Room 13, which is part of Escape Hotel as there is no Yelp page for Room13.

We booked 6:30 for a dinner for a burlesque experience show and dinner with $80 min per person through open table which DID not explain that there are NO SHOWS until 8:30pm. While we sat down for 15 min and ordered and seems confused as we asked the waitress when does the show start, she mentioned at 9. So then we asked if there is still a min requirement as we do not want to proceed with dinner if there is not a show which is why we came here for?

Then we were speaking with the owner who was rude, aggressive and speak to us as if we were idiots and used extremely hostile words and aggression while trying to argue with us about open table while we were polite. She left the table telling us she is sorry we don't know how to book and use the app, and we agreed to pay for our drinks and just leave.

Then within 10 seconds, the waitress dropped off the food and told us the owner said to put it there and charge us. We were forced to pay for food that we are not eating (we left it there).

As we were walking out, the owner got into my face as I thought she was gonna say sorry, she said you guys are banned as if this is the hottest club in town and I am supposed to feel bad, "ohhh no".

The attitude is pathetic, the owner is pathetic, the food looked pathetic.

Do not fall for the trap and get lecture by some rude potentially racist owner. I honestly rather throw cash on the floor than to give it to her. I cannot believe she waited at the entrance to tell us we are banned as if we are going to lose sleep over it.

Note: staff waitress untrained, rude owner, polite hostess and only person that apologized to us. Reason why I said waitress was untrained is because she also didn’t know when show was...

(it contains no spoilers) I went yesterday for the first time with my boyfriend and we were warmly greeted by super friendly staff, all dressed up on the theme of the place. Shortly after our arrival we could go to our chosen room (the crypt), and everything was awesome. The decoration, the ambiance... The puzzles were cool and there were just few padlocks, what's great. But... (and here's the reason for the three stars) one of the puzzles didn't work. So we kept trying to find a mistake, loosing a lot of time (5-10min, what's a lot in a game like this), until we gave up and went for clues. And our solution was right, but the puzzle wasn't triggered by our response so we kept trying another couple of times until the puzzle worked and gave us the next clues.

At the end we couldn't finish the room and although I can't tell we could've finished with the extra minutes (we were close to, according to the game master), it was still super frustrating to have lost precious time because of a failure in the mechanics of the game. We asked for some compensation and were offered to have our passports stamped (they have a cute passport for people that play), and that was it.

It was really upsetting, because it felt not fair to be unable to get closer to complete the game because of a game problem.

The room was fantastic, though. So, again, I'm trying to write a fair review despite the fact that I'm really annoyed and upset with...
