UPDATED 01/2024 Every time I visit Hugh Spa, I remind myself how much I really enjoy visiting this place and how I should come at least once a month. Fast forward a year later and Its on my New Years resolution list. LOL guess it’s better than nothing. Come on a week day, if you can – ample parking and no one around. Bring a book or something to keep you occupied and get your monies worth stay longer than 2-3 hours and do yourself a favor and get a wet massage! Nothing has changed, the customer service superb, always clean and when I come pretty quiet – except the newbies that love chatting it up like you’re not at a spa. If that’s you….. go to Wispa, it’s like a party in there! Anyways nothing new, except maybe updated food pricing. They only offer food Fri-Sun! Enjoy! Need more info read my old review =) I really hate that I have to share this place with other people! But it wouldn’t be fair to keep this hidden gem to myself. I’ve been coming to Hugh Spa for almost 8 years now, I was happy to hear they lived through the pandemic. It’s been a cool min since I’ve been back but word of mouth has spread. Came on a Wednesday morning and I was so surprised at how busy it was. Prior to the pandemic this place was pretty quiet but honestly, kudos to them, the more the merrier! Although their seemed to be a ton of people a lot of them were getting massages. Every time I was in a room there would only be my partner and maybe one other person. Hugh Spa has six rooms; Jade steam, clay ball, salt, oxygen, magnet and ice room. If you are unfamiliar with Korean spas; here are some tips Before you go, decide whether you are comfortable to be naked in front of others. Or family and friends if you decide to invite them. The first thing you want to do is remove your clothing and put on whatever the spa offers you, it can be a robe or T-shirt and shorts. You must must (yes I said it twice) make sure you shower before going into any of the treatment rooms. I personally don’t wet my hair the first time around, I’ll do it when I have my second and final shower. Ok your clean and in your robe; head to the jacuzzi and relax those muscles then head to the steam room- stay as long as you can. Dry off and make sure you are rehydrating before and after going into another room, there is complementary tea and water near the cafĆ©. It is suggested you use each room for at least 10-20mins and after each room you want to go into the ice room too cool your body down, I try to stay in at least 15 mins but if you can only do 5 that’s fine, the last 10 mins head into the oxygen room. Do this till you have been in all the rooms. Oh and get a massage, its well worth it. Remember you will be naked if you decide on a wet massage but hot damn, that’s the best massage ever!

I have found my new K Spa! I booked a scrub and 60 min shiatsu massage during TG week in tradition with my week off work. I loved everything about my experience and had an amazing massage that really hit those "tech neck" sore spots on my neck and shoulders. Yes this spa is not as large as the others, but with that comes better service, less people, and way better value for your $$.

Arriving at 9am allows for ample parking in their lot but can see how the lot can be packed later in the day. I left around 12:30pm and it was already 3/4 full from the other businesses.

I made the reservation over the phone, they didn't take any credit card info or anything. Check in was very smooth, the front desk person double checked that a shiatsu was what I wanted (dry massage, no oil, more pressure point based). Um yes please.

I was able to shower, soak in the salt jacuzzi, use the tea wash, and steam before my service. The services started ON THE DOT, these ladies don't miss a beat. My tech, Sara, was super nice and strong; so much dead skin...I feel like I shed my winter snake skin. As soon as I was done, I was immediately intercepted by the massage tech Haley, who whisked me off to a private enclosed room. She was SO strong, but had good communication on pressure level and areas to concentrate on. When my 60 min was up, I didn't want it to end. I was so relaxed and loosened up, I felt so disoriented with relief when I was walking back to the main spa area. I them treatment room hopped to my hearts desire: clay, Himalayan salt, oxygen, infrared heat, steam room, and cold room. I only wish the cafe was open, I could have stayed all damn day.

I checked out Yelp and Google reviews prior to my visit, and for some reason, prob just my nature, I gravitated towards the ones that were not favorable just to "know what to look out for". I was VERY pleasantly surprised to have nothing but great friendly service from the booking process to all the staff I encountered. They do NOT charge for usage of lockers and they do NOT have a credit card fee, everything was totally normal and fine. People be cray, ferreal.

My only slight disappointment is their cafe isn't open on Tuesdays haha, I was really looking forward to that steamed egg dish! I also wish they provided spa sandals for walking to and from the jade/marble floors but I will make sure to bring my own on...

One of the receptionists who I booked my appt with on the phone and who checked me in was super nice. The one when I was leaving was alright, not overly nice. The place is super clean and they seem like they're constantly maintaining it, which is great. You take your shoes off once you leave the reception area. I did see two women who had put their shoes next to them at the area with mirrors, blow dryers, lotion, etc. I wish they would enforce not having any shoes down on the floor in that area because not really fair for the rest of us walking around barefoot.

They show you to your locker and you put your stuff in there and fully undress and put on there cute pink robes. You can explore the diff rooms (Himalayan salt, near infared magnetic, clay, jade steam, etc) before or after your appointments depending on when you get there. They suggest you arrive 15-30 mins before the appt so you can check in and settle in.

There's food you can order but looks like only on weekends. I went on a Wednesday and had called to request an appointment for a massage and facial. They were able to book me for a couple hours later. I got a 60 min Swedish massage. They massage you with a sheet covering your body for the first half and then oil massage without the sheet for second half. I would've preferred oil massage the whole time, so I'm glad I know for next time. The 60 min hydrating facial was nice and relaxing. The esthetician would spread stuff on my face then use tools to massage it around, sometimes with the steam machine on. I was so relaxed / didn't get enough sleep the previous night so fell asleep lolol. When I woke up there was a mask fully on my face. Not sure how long that portion is. I think I'd go back and try to facial that has milk and honey.

The rooms were cool to go in as I'd never been to a jjimjilbang before. You have to be naked for the shower room which includes the hot mineral tub, an area where you can pour mugwort water on yourself, and the scrubs. But otherwise, the remaining rooms you wear your robe.

There's free parking in the lot. They don’t offer a birthday discount. Worth a shot asking though heh. I believe Queen Bee in Culver City gives you 10% off for your...
