Harassment by the “Manager of LA Fitness.” on Tuesday 12/11/24 at 10.30am.
5 stars to Zumba instructor Andres very professional and polite. I recommend his class.
1 star to the manager or HR department. Who did not want to identify herself properly
I was in the Zumba class in the back near the wall for 40 minutes using my ankle weights with adjustable bands to dance Zumba.
Suddenly, a lady of 60 or 70 years old was in front of me, approached me and started yelling at me contemptuously threatening me aggressively “Señor. Take off the adjustable bands or leave the room.”
I told her please ma’am keep your distance, please.
But she continued to attack me in a discriminatory manner yelling “Leave the room or I will report you.”
I said, “Ma’am, please calm down and keep your distance.”
She stormed out of the room screaming and yelling “I’m going to report you. I’m going to report you.”
Classmates around me ask me “what’s wrong with that lady” I just say “I don’t know”
She came back with an employee from LA Fitness, this employee told me that I had to take off my ankle weights with adjustable bands because I’m not allowed to use them in Zumba class.
I told her if there was any regulation she could show me that says I can’t use ankle weights with adjustable bands.
The employee replied that the manager says so.
I asked to speak to the manager.
It turned out that the manager was the lady who was yelling at me in a rude and discriminatory manner. And then it turned out that she is also from the human resources (HR) department.
IN THE OFFICE: I was totally confused. I asked the supposed Manager for her business card. She told me that none of the employees at LA Fitness have business cards identification, and that the Manager of Managers said that no one could use weights with adjustable bands.
I respectfully asked her if she could print out a copy of the policy that says no weights can be used with adjustable bands.
She aggressively responded that she could not give it to me. I asked her again to identify herself with a card or give me her name on a piece of paper so I would know who exactly she was.
My classmate asked her again to print out the policy that says she cannot use weights in Zumba classes.
The supposed Manager responded "I can't print it, understand."
She only gave me a piece of paper with her name and a phone number, which I attached to this comment.
The aggressive and dismissive Manager as always told my classmate and me "Now come back tomorrow at 11am and Go, Go, Gooo."
I got angry and told her "you can't talk to me like that, I'm a member, not your employee. I'll report this situation." I left.
Conclusion: This lady is very rude, racist and aggressive. All my colleagues notice the aggression I received from the supposed Manager? Or...

Sales:
Dont believe anything the sales people are telling you unless its written down.
When we signed up for the membership we only needed the one club membership and we were making sure with the salesman that we will be able to tranfer the account when we moved away, of course he said no problem and in reality when we moved and tried moving the account they forced us to get the multiclub memebership. overall expense of another 20$ a month.
We asked if its possible to freeze the account for no extra charge or any charge at all while we were out of town, of course the salesman said there is no problem to do so, in reality when we went over our bill we saw they charged us for half of the amount, instead of 40$ a month they changed 20$. So there is no real way to freeze the account.
Staff:
Almost everytime i walk in to the gym i try and smile to the lady at the front but there are two ladies that are always giving me a hard time to come in for absolutely no reason with theyre bad attitude.
I went over my bill and noticed a random 5$ charge from LA fitness, and it turns out that the same bad attitude lady in the front charged me for no reason.
Workout efficiancy:
We usually workout in the morning, or at evening around 8-9 (Not in the rush hour)
Its going to be impossible for you to find any weights lower than 20 pounds.
There are 3 squats cage and in the past 4 times I went to the gym for a leg workout I wasnt able to use them, they were always occupied and when i asked if i can join or wait until they finished they said they have over an hour until they finish. I went to the reception and they said there is no time limit for the machine, and there is nothing they can do about it.
"Out of service" "scheduled for maintenance" these are signs you are going to see very often and for very long periods, around 4 to 6 weeks until they are repaired .
Many times im finding myself looking for help because the machines are fully loaded with weights of 300 pounds and more. because people dont care about other people or women like me.
Clean:
You can see the floors are cleaned eveyday, but you dont want to get in to the women's showers, last time I went there was a homeless lady swimming on the floor and screaming on everybody.
second thing I will attach a sample picture of one of the dirty machines that was in the same condition for over two months
I usually dont like writing bad reviews but this place is just so horrible. I didnt manage to find anything good about this place. For LA fitness if you care about your customers take care of...

Not only is the locker room always a disgusting mess (I heard one guy say he got a STAPH infection from that locker room) the weight room is always VERY DISORGANIZED The Employees are lazy to a T and have no pride in their jobs. There will always be people in the gym who don't pick up after themselves, that's usually where good employees do a sweep and make sure that weights that aren't in use have been racked. However, I've gone in at nine o'clock at night, (a good two hours after rush) when there are like 10 people there and it will still take me close to 10 minutes to find a 20 pound dumbbell.
I never write reviews but I have to warn you if you're reading this DO NOT GO TO LA FITNESS THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF.
In July of last year I joined because it was cheaper than 24 hour fitness...or so I thought. I decided to do a free personal training consultation and was convinced to try a month of personal training for free. I just had to cancel any time within 30 days. On day twenty-two of my personal training contract I decided that the quality of workout my trainers were providing was not worth the amount of money I would be paying (They mostly focused on the most basic and arbitrary of body weight exercises). However, when I went in to cancel my membership (on Day 22) they informed me that I had to cancel within 20 days and not 30 as originally stated by the salesman I first spoke to. Upon reading the VERY FINE PRINT in my contract I saw that they were right and I was now locked into a year long contract with the only out being to pay fifty percent of the remaining balance. The person who informed me about my unfortunate predicament felt bad and said he would report my situation to corporate to see if there was anything that could be done. He never got back to me after three emails.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
Of course I chose the cheaper option which was just to accept that I screwed up in not reading the fine print and continue using the (SO NOT WORTH IT) Personal Training sessions.
It is now February and I have just booked a three month shoot in Northern California. When I called to freeze my membership they informed me that though my account was frozen I would still have to pay for Personal Training, though I was unable to use it as there were no LA Fitness facilities. I will be charged for something that I am unable to use through no fault of my own. What kind of business practice is that?
BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES.
If I could give less than one star I would. This is a terrible place....
