The entire customer experience was lack luster and made me very unfortunate. It first started when the “supposed” manager, Drew (has tied back hair), asks if it’s okay for him to seat specifically me at the bar when there was ample seating available both indoor and outdoor. He started the experience unpleasant and unwelcoming by not following standards and asking my preference of seating and informing me regards to possible wait times.
Second, Drew told me I could sit wherever I wanted, yet didn’t escort me like he escorted the previous 3 parties to their seat. In addition the table was still dirty for at least 5 min prompting me to get any staff’s attention to communicate the issue at hand.
Third, I ordered a 16oz mimosa for $8 which is clearly highlighted both online and their answer machine detailing the information when you call. When you call, it specially highlights and invites guests to partake in their 16oz $8mimosas, and when I ordered they tried charging me $15. It was my first time at the location, so I wanted to understand what was happening. I asked Will to bring a manager. Instead of doing so, Will immediately became defensive, interrogated me, and put 110% of his effort to prevent me from communicating with a manager. I then informed Will, based off his lack of professionalism and interrogation, I don’t feel comfortable speaking about my concerns to someone not in management. After minutes of his childish back and forth antics, Will went to speak with someone. 10 minutes pass, and I notice Will speaking to Drew at the host stand, and they both glare at me. Moments pass, Will returns, says there’s nothing they can do. I requested to speak yo Drew directly. Drew came and stated that the prices increased and the information on the phone machine is outdated prices prior to pandemic. This information directory has been set for years, they are not a large establishment, yet they continue to falsely promote these inaccurate prices. As someone who went for the first time, they did nothing to amend this supposed error. This was not an error, at its best was pure laziness, but this was purposeful and unethical advertising. It clearly states prices are $8 for 16oz yet they refused to honor the price. Not to mention all the staff were white and I’m a brown Latino male. The entire experience felt uncomfortable from start to finish. Please avoid this racist place and the racist staff upholding the establishment like...
Read moreHad a very weird experience here yesterday. Showed up at 4:10, I remember this because we found parking right in front and I had to set a timer on my phone for when the meter ended. We wait for a while for the host/hostess to show up to seat us. When she comes she says verbatim, "We haven't had much busy all day, are you guys okay just doing take out?" She sensed our hesitation and kept trying to bring it home for us to basically gtfo. Ummm what? What kind of customer service is this? Especially when it's almost an hour to close. If it was 445/450 okay. But almost an hour? C'mon. That's rude af! I said no. We live far. I would like to sit inside please and thank you. The hostess smiled faded and she rolled her eyes and sighed and led us inside. Now my bf and I did what we didn't have to do. We asked which is an easier spot for us to sit because they were cleaning. When we ordered we just ordered waffles and water. To make it simple. I didn't want just that. I wanted the full experience. But I hear the staff in the kitchen saying they already turned some burners off. Seriously? Anyway our saving grace was our wonderful server whose name I didn't catch but looks a lot like the lead from The Bear. He was kind, soft spoken and didn't make us seem imposing at all like the hostess. Even told the kitchen staff to turn the stoves back on. Also, our food? Chef's kiss delicious. Absolutely delicious. I ordered the cheesecake waffle and my boyfriend ordered the red velvet waffle. I would love to come back for another round of waffles and service by The Bear 2.0 What I didn't tell the staff is that I lost one of my best friends this week and I came to this place as part of my "comfort tour" in LA to help me grieve since a) I love waffles and b) my best friend loved waffles too and I hadnt been here in a while. If it wasn't for our server and food this would have been a one star rating with complaint straight...
Read moreThe Waffle is a great location for quality brunch in Hollywood!
You know how sometimes the closer you live to something, the longer it takes for you to actually end up visiting it?! This is one of those spots that I always see when walking or driving in Hollywood, and yet despite living nearby, hadn't actually gone until recently. What I found was that I have definitely been missing out!!
Visiting for brunch on a Sunday afternoon, there was a bit of a wait, but still got some patio seating in nearly no time at all.
I personally really enjoy the vibes here and being able to street watch/people watch from its expansive patio space, amply covered with umbrellas for shading.
Service was very quick and friendly, with the mimosa flights we ordered being brought out so fast!
The food itself is generously portioned and very delicious! I did a breakfast plate and upgraded the biscuit to one that's basically biscuits & gravy, which was SOOO good! The rest of the plate was very solid breakfast items. My partner loves the waffle sandwiches here and gets them for lunch sometimes - and this visit was nothing different when it came to him thoroughly enjoying it!
We left in a great mood from the various mimosa flavors in the flights, the hearty plates of food that left us full AND with plenty of leftovers to finish off later that day!
If you're hanging out in Hollywood and wondering where to have brunch or lunch, this is...
