Lovely restaurant in DTLA! The interior is beautifully decorated and had an intimate vibe. Staff were very attentive and service was great. Shoutout to our waitress Chandra who treated my boyfriend and I so well! Of course, the food was also delicious.
Appetizers: Polpo Grigliato (would recommend): grilled octopus that was so tender and had crispy edges! the green beans, potato, and sauce complemented it very well. I would definitely recommend this. Carpaccio di Salmone (would recommend): long strips of salmon in a salmon carpaccio that were so good!! I think everyone around me ordered this too Tagliere di Salumi e Formaggi: the chef’s charcuterie! 3 types of meats and cheeses each and a jam on the side! very yummy and would definitely be enjoyed by any charcuterie lover.
Salad: Insalata del Settecento (would recommend): was sooo good! my boyfriend and i plowed through this so quickly and we usually don’t eat salads LOL the salad is a bit tangy which i really liked
Entrees: Gnocchi with Ragu alla Napoletana: red sauce gnocci with 3 different meats in it (i think)! it was very delicious and if you pair it with a pizza, you can eat the leftover sauce on this pasta with the pizza crust! Funghi & Salsiccia: a mushroom and sausage pizza! delicious and not overly filling, which made it perfect to pair with the pasta in my opinion! i loved the crisp on the crust too Filet Mignon: my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed this and the meat practically melted in my mouth. the mashed potatoes it came with were also good
Cocktails: Sakurativo (would recommend): i really liked the bitterness and sweetness in this cocktail! i love yuzu and lemon and it was packed with these flavors. it definitely hid the taste of alcohol more than The Situationship, so if you like cocktails that mask the alcohol then you should definitely go for this! Even my boyfriend got one for himself midway through our meal The Situationship: another bitter cocktail with hints of pineapple that you can definitely taste! you can taste the alcohol a bit more in this one but the salt rim was also a nice touch. my boyfriend really liked it!
Dessert: Coppa di Gelato (would recommend): i loved the chocolate and vanilla gelato and the presentation of it! it was so cute and a perfect dessert to finish off the night.
I put (would recommend) on the ones I personally REALLY enjoyed but all the food items were delicious and plated...
Read moreBeautiful experience at Settecento. The restaurant itself feels big very open while still feeling intimate which makes it awesome for a dinner with close friends/loved ones/date night. We checked in with our reservation and were sat immediately. Loved that. Chandra helped us throughout the entire night and was super friendly, explaining the whole menu and answering all of our questions.
The drinks were on point. Had a few mezcal cocktails (The Firecracker and the Naked and Famous) that were delicious and they had a good selection on wines to choose from. They also made some mocktails that weren't on the menu for people in our group who weren't drinking which was super nice.
Fried Octopus...sheeeesh. This was so good we ordered it twice. Cooked perfectly and served with potatoes. Lovely way to start the meal.
Insalata del Settecento was a good sized portion and so full of crunch.Really got us excited for the rest of the meal. Someone had ordered it with seared tuna that looked really good so ill definitely be trying that version next time.
The Spaghetti alla Chitarra alla Nerano was great. Flavorful and light. (The pasta was al dente for every dish, the consistency was much appreciated).
Had both the gnocchi dishes, the bianca and rosa. Really enjoyed the protein that came with each dish. The sausage with the rosa gnocchi was 🤌🏽
The cannelloni was BOMB. Definitely order that.
The filet mignon was exactly what I wanted. Cooked perfectly and served with a mushroom sauce on top. Oooo and the buttery mash potatoes. Beautifully cooked steak and potatoes will never go out of style.
The biggest surprise...the braised beef cheek. They knocked it out the park with that one. Was expecting the filet to be the star of the night, but I think this actually took my vote for favorite dish of the night. I think about those cheeks often.
Finished off the night with baba napoletano, gelato, torta di frutta and cannolis. All delicious.
Can't wait...
Read moreI saw the add on Instagram last weekend and decided to go there for dinner on Sunday night. I was taken by the pictures of the restaurant: violins and books. It looked so artsy and beautiful. I looked at the menu before getting there ; seemed ok , since I don't eat meat and it seems that almost every dish has meat or sea food which I don't eat either. I had a basic pasta dish and dessert which was amazing and light. The service And ambience were absolutely wonderful and beautiful. We sat by the bar on the balcony inside the restaurant. Not on the patio. While we were waiting for our meal, I saw a big roach on the floor next to the other table near us. I didn't say a thing to my friend. I didn't want to freak her out. I was disgusted though. At the end of our dinner, we walked to the front door and we both saw two big roaches right by the door. I imagine there is an Infestation of those creatures all around the restaurant. I called the manager on Tuesday and made him aware of this serious problem and health hazard at the restaurant. He didn't seem surprise or apologetic. He just simply said he would call the pest control company again. They just open this year and I think they could have better controlled of this issue. They are totally detached from any building so it should not be so hard to keep roaches out, if the kitchen is kept clean and treated every month or every two weeks like most restaurants. I don't think I will be coming back there . Too bad the place is so beautiful but I am...
