PetSmart is a large pet supply retailer offering a wide range of products and services, but my recent experiences have left me with mixed feelings, hence the three-star rating. While they excel in certain areas, a significant drawback has impacted my overall perception. On the positive side, PetSmart offers a comprehensive selection of pet supplies. From food and toys to grooming tools and habitats, they generally have everything you need for your furry, feathered, or scaled companions (with some significant exceptions, as I'll mention below). The store layout is typically well-organized, making it easy to find what you're looking for. They also frequently offer sales and discounts, which can be a boon for pet owners on a budget. Their online ordering system is convenient, and in-store pickup is usually a breeze. The staff I've encountered have generally been friendly and helpful, though their product knowledge can sometimes be inconsistent. However, my biggest gripe with PetSmart lies in their limited selection of actual animals. It seems their focus has shifted dramatically, and the once diverse menagerie is now largely reduced to fish, birds, and reptiles (mostly lizards). Where are the small mammals like hamsters, guinea pigs, and rabbits? What happened to the playful kittens and puppies that used to greet you as you entered the store? This drastic reduction in the variety of adoptable and purchasable pets is incredibly disappointing. For many, the joy of visiting a pet store is seeing and interacting with different animals. This diminished selection significantly detracts from the overall experience and makes me question whether PetSmart is still a true "pet" store in the traditional sense. While PetSmart remains a decent option for pet supplies, the lack of a broader range of animals is a significant drawback. If you're primarily looking for food, toys, or other supplies, PetSmart will likely meet your needs. However, if you're hoping to find a new furry or cuddly friend, you'll probably have to look elsewhere. Until PetSmart expands its animal offerings, my rating will remain at three stars. They've lost a significant part of what made them a destination for...
Read moreUsually pretty clean. Animals seem to be cared for the best they can. Fish, Freshwater and saltwater, are usually in good condition. The same can't be said for their usual selection of aquatic plants. My biggest complaint is the bettas in cups. They don't change the water often enough, or scrub the cups. Which are both highly important to maintaining the health of the betta fish, especially for the prices they have on some of them these days. This is why my review is only four stars.
Cattails, a feline rescue, works with this location and has cats in store ready for adoption. The cats are always well taken care of. I do suggest cat adoption through them. I'm sure they have more cats elsewhere if you don't see what you want...
Read moreThis place sold me fancy guppies which they said were males as well as the tank sign.
Well they were females and ended up getting pregnant and had birthing complications and ended up passing away. This was an emotionally challenging tike for me and cost me more money trying to keep them alive by separating them.
So what I am saying is that the aquatic employees don't know what they are talking about when it comes to questions. Do your research.
With respect to my other experiences here it...
