BEWARE! Update-2Apr2021-on reading the response from the owner and measuring the absurdity of his and manager's/staff claims, slander and ever-evolving narrative, resolve to respond, appropriately, is further cemented. Reading other clients' reviews (shortened sessions, cancelled appointments, mistreatment by staff), and seeing the dismissive, if not abusive responses by the owner-seems this is status quo for the facility-problem starts at the top and continues. 1st, scheduling seemed to be problematic for the receptionist, Ashlee, who had to hand off the phone to another when I voiced concern at who was to be providing my 14 year old son a massage when they said it would have to be a man...even while in the same room with me! It should have been a red flag, this was not a professional health care facility. Couples massage scheduled to follow a long 10+hr trip by car, day of doctor's appointments, with hopes of being provided some relief from severe pain for Tue-another, with my son, on Thu in preparation for the return trip. The couples' massage was partly cancelled-1 of the therapists was a "no-show". Nicole, my therapist, seemed kind and professional. She directed me to a room and told me to change out of my street clothes-she would return when I was ready. Being a first responder, and veteran, I have considerable equipment hung on my duty belt, so it takes more than a few seconds to dress/undress. Assuming I was to use the robe provided on one of the hooks, I changed into that, hanging my street clothes on the rack and awaited her return. She knocked and asked if she could come back in. She entered and asked me to get under the covers on my back on the table. She left the room. I disrobed, placed it within arm's reach on the chair at the head of the table and followed her directions, again awaited her return. It would seem one is supposed to know how these spas work, never having been to one. She asked which areas hurt the most. I said glutes, lower lumbar, both S.I. joints, scalp, hands and feet. Rotator issues with my shoulder prevented me from placing my arm above my head.Ā There was a great deal of readjusting of the sheet throughout the session, but when all was said and done, the problem areas were barely touched. She had left the room several times throughout the less than "50 minutes" alotted (advertised as 60 minutes). She said our time was done and that a mint, tip card, and her business card were waiting on the counter once I got up and dressed-to take my time. She left the room. I then arose to dress. On leaving the room, I was met by Nicole in the hallway and escorted out to the lobby where my family was waiting; she said it was a pleasure meeting me and working with me and she looked forward to seeing us again-that she would be working the front desk when we returned for next session on Thur. I went ahead and paid and gave her a better than the "recommended" $20 tip. We thanked the folks; down the road we went. Sonja received a call 2 hrs later from one of the girls stating my therapist "felt uncomfortable", that I had "undressed in front of the therapist", and the owner saidĀ our family was banned from their spa. On asking to speak with the manager, Mariah, we were floored to hear her say "...he shouldn't have shown up with four guns..." (I don't wear 4 guns). When Sonja asked to speak with the owner, he simply said, "you and your family are banned..." and hung up the phone. We remain dumbfounded and bewildered at the sequence of events and interactions.Ā As before, therapist seemed kind and professional; each time I was asked to undress or dress, she gave me the privacy to do so. If there were any actual issues of being "uncomfortable", then it should have been addressed IMMEDIATELY; the session should NOT have proceeded. There were no untoward behaviors nor was there ever a thought to be in any state of undress with audience- all was with modesty. Given the outright slander/false gossip and receiving incomplete services, being "banned" from their facility, is the least of concerns about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moremy dad has given me a couple gift cards to this place because I love spas. Iāve never had an issue with any other one iāve ever been to. But, for some reason this one i simply canāt ever go without something going wrong. The first time i ever came here i went to the sojo location and they were extremely money hungry and was obviously the only thing they cared about the aesthetician talked about me tipping her at least 6 times in my consultation and was not asked a single question about my skin only things that costed more money. I left feeling so upset and feeling that they were trying to take advantage of me because i am a young girl. Later on for valentines i received another gift card. i was scared to go back but decided to try a different location 20 minutes away from my house. I went in person to make the appointment. The receptionist are never eve friendly, Iāve never had a good experience with one of them. There so rude and donāt care to help you. I came in and said i did a gift card and it has this amount on it can you please help me make an appointment for what fits in this budget. She books me a facial for the next day. The aesthetician here was really nice and there wasnāt rly a issue when i first arrived the service was fine but when i went to pay i was already trying to be sold some type of subscription and i said no and she then proceeded to tell me that i owe 50$ out of pocket. I explained to her i came in yesterday and i was told the gift card was all i needed and the aesthetician has also said that to me. The lady first response is āshe really told you thatā with a sarcastic tone and rolled her eyes. i had been very nice trying to explain everything i was told leading up and the day of this appt. She goes to the back to call her manager. and i could hear the conversation she was having. it sounding like she was making me sound crazy or i was trying to scam this place or something. simply being mean. telling me itās a āamount gift cardā and not a service gift card. i told her that i was told the āamount gift cardā would be fine. i donāt care if itās a amount or service card. i should not be treated this way. she says they will acomadate me this one time but for future i needed to know that it was a amount gift card and was treated like this was my mistake and not their own. I donāt understand why they are like this here. but i will never be coming back. and i hope no one else does ether. for the amount of money ur spending here i just suggest to go anywhere else. especially if your a teenage girl...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat Can I say!!! I'm all about Self Care. I have been treating myself to Massages for over a decade now. I have had Massages in Hawaii. In fact, I will typically book a massage anytime I travel. That being said, and the point of what I am trying to make is this. Not all massages are the same. I would just roll the Dice and pick the most convenient spot available. Then, Magic happened. I stumbled across Hand and Stone, booked my appointment, and my life has been better ever since. I would love to give my massage therapist Natalie at the Midvale location a huge shout out. This professional massage therapist introduced me to what I should have been expecting from a massage all along. Trust me when I say this because I have had some pretty amazing massages over the years. Natalie at Hand and Stone amazes me every time I stop in for a little R&R. Her Style is Very Unique and Taylored specifically to the individual needs. Needles to say, I signed up to be a member immediately and have returned time and time again. I live 3 hours away and have some local therapists here, but the prices are outrageous, and frankly, the quality of massages just does not stack up. With my schedule being so up in the air, I have yet to have an issue making appointments with them. I have had to occasionally book separate therapists, and although their styles and techniques are different, I can promise the next level care that is provided will keep you coming back for more. As long as I continue to receive that level of care, they have locked down a repeat customer for as long as I'm able to make it there. Amazing Energy from the Staff. You literally will have your energy shifted when you walk out the door. Truly is Magic. I hope that if you are considering a place to take care of all of your self care needs, you do yourself a favor and let these amazingly talented professionals at Hand and Stone Massage fulfill those needs. Have a Beautiful Experience and you are...
