I asked for a gift cert for Christmas so I could get my nails done and my mom just happened to choose this place which I was bummed about because it meant I had to park on Lake in Uptown in the winter- bleh! I got lucky with finding a spot, but sadly there was a small man lying on the sidewalk right outside covered in blankets with a bunch of coats and things on, trying to stay out of the snow that was flying. Which just made me really sad. I'm guessing that because the City of Mpls keeps destroying their settlements, that there are now many people with nowhere to go. This is also why, I'm guessing, the salon keeps their doors locked even during regular business hours.
When I talked to someone on the phone to make an appointment, he was just sooooo confused and seemed overwhelmed and flustered and it took way longer than it needed to. Which isn't that big of a deal, or wouldn't be if their prices weren't so high.
To me, if you're going to charge someone $70 for a full set of acrylics BEFORE the tip, then the customer service should be epic, the ambiance top notch, and the work excellent. None of this was true here unfortunately.
The tech, Liam told me the cost up front, was very nice, quiet, respectful, and very quick, but several of my nails are oddly shaped, one of them is very visibly crooked, the pinkies look like beans, there are lots of bubbles in the polish because he did it SO fast, he left a lot of little shavings still attached underneath my nails, and they all kind of stick up at odd angles. Again, I wouldn't be so nit picky if I was charged a reasonable price for what I received. Initially, I just wanted a matte black polish with gloss French tips and was told that would be $90! I thought I heard wrong! Ended up just getting a full set of acrylics with plain gloss black polish and my $65 gift card still wasn't enough. There was no lotion applied, no hand rub, and didn't even rub in the cuticle oil- just dripped it onto me and sent me on my way which meant I got oil on my clothes and coat while trying to pay.
This last part is purely speculation, but it felt to me like, they knew I wouldn't be dropping $100s here monthly so just did the absolute bare minimum for me. Which really bummed me out. Like, don't poor people deserve high quality service when they pay for it too?
I definitely won't be back here and I'm sad that the experience that was supposed to be a treat for myself was actually...
Read moreIt’s been 2 weeks since I came to this Salon it was the first time I’ve ever came here to get a acrylic manicure and normal polish pedicure , right off the bat the girl at the register was giving us attitude and had a look on her face , I ignored it at first , mind you they don’t let you know about their prices until they sit you down and start doing your nails , I thought the prices were going to be normal, I payed 122$ for normal no design polished acrylic on natural nails and normal pedicure just polish , when I got my pedicure the girl was giving us attitude and she spoke English very well , they seemed as if they were hurrying us up to make a quick decision on what we wanted oh and she kept bragging about the prices as if we couldn’t afford it honest to god , I don’t know if they were treating us like this because we are first time clients but that is a very bad first impression , they didn’t scrub well your feet they did a very lazy job and she still managed to scrape my foot and it got a cut , I walked out there and my feet were crusty , they don’t paint your nails beds all the way fully that’s why they grow out so fast within a short amount on time , she also was talking about the prices of manicure while we were getting our pedi and was telling us how we were just going to get clear acrylic powder and just a polish color and if we were getting long or short but she was saying it with such a attitude and bragging about the prices like if we couldn’t afford it , I definitely felt how different they treated us towards their other clients , and to top it all off the next day I had a ingrown nail on my toe and it hasn’t gone ever since it’s been for 2 weeks and now looks absolutely horrendous , they are very rude people I don’t know why they have such good reviews or if it was just my experience, I am a Georgian Caucasus Muslim client and I came there with my mother the one that attended my mother didn’t even talk at all to her didn’t drill her nail down that clearly needed drilling , or nothing and on her manicure you can see the clear acrylic powder the lady that did her mani didn’t paint her nails well with the polish… I am very very...
Read moreHonestly, unimpressed. I was really excited to go here because it is one of the best rated places in minneapolis. They were clearly very busy when I arrived, I asked them if they had time for me or if they were too busy. As per usual in a nail salon they said that they could fit me in. I didn't have to wait long, maybe 5 minutes. At this time I told the nail tech that I am extremely picky and that I will stop her if I see her doing anything that I don't like, as a forewarning. I made it very clean multiple times that I have a certain standard and that if my nails were not looking right I would have her stop. Alright so now thats out of the way- She filed the tops down very thin and very uneven. This is my biggest pet peeve is lumpy tops. I made her stop, I told her they were uneven and gave her an opportunity to fix it, she made them more thin and still uneven. I said, OK, thank you but I will stop now. She was clearly irritated and called over a manager. The manager asked if they could have another employee with more experience come over. I said if that is what you guys would like to do then ok. A man came over and he completely refilled my set after the first girl had already done that. So I felt like this was a waste of time and it made the base of my nails look very thick and unnatural. He cut my skin on 4 of my nails with the drummle tool. He shaped the nails and made them not lumpy, but they were still so uneven, where one side was thicker than the other. When he was done with the acrylic base, I told him I didn't want him to paint them. I paid, went home and fixed my acrylics and put on my own gel polish. Still on the hunt for a decent nail place I guess... These people need to take their time and hire employees with more than just a license that have some experience with what they are doing. If you cut up my skin and cant make and even, natural looking nail, you should not be able to do more than a...
