This will be a long and sometimes brutally honest review. And it may seem very sporadic yet I am trying to review in the order of which we used the amenities. Here goes. Upon our arrival, check in process was insanely easy. Our room was already ready for us and I received the digital key to my Hilton app. Sharing that key with someone else that has the app? I could have probably hacked into Bank of America easier. Basically had to get a physical key card from the front desk. The room that we paid for was a king suite with a deck. If you are splurging, these are the only rooms that have a direct view of the Red rocks to the east of town. The view is A+. This restaurant is actually within walking distance of a lot of Moab restaurants and bars. Not within walking distance of the Moab brewery however... If that matters. We dined at the restaurant in house, which is called Josie Wyatt's Grill. Thankfully they open up at 6:30 to allow people to get breakfast and still head out for hiking by 7: 15AM. We had no issues with breakfast and actually the breakfast was decently priced and very quick and efficient service. We did not take advantage of the pool. The biggest flaw of the King Suite room was that there was absolutely nothing whatsoever to use if you wanted to take advantage of the tub that you paid for. Front desk told me that they could bring up a whole bunch of shampoo samples. However, I had about a quart of it bolted to the wall of the shower, so thanks but no thanks! The spa that is in the basement has bath salts, but you have to actually realize that you want the bath salts when the spa is open (in our situation, it was around 9:00 p.m. so the spa was definitely locked tight at that time). We did not take advantage of the workout area which is also in the basement, but seemed to have solid equipment. We decided to hike instead! The spa was very nice and we actually visited twice. I would say that, for what we received, the price was probably about 15%, maybe 20% overpriced compared to the quality and experience we received. Definitely convenient, yet overpriced. We paid about $750 for four, 50 minute massages with automatic gratuity added. Luckily we did have daily room cleaning, as I guess the older I get the more I value a freshly made bed every night when I'm on vacation!! However, service was a little sloppy as they did not even notice that the Kleenex was out even though I put the empty box on top of the metal dispenser! We also almost had to call down to the front desk at 10:00 p.m. one night to ask for another roll of toilet paper. Josie Wyatt's for dinner was a completely different experience versus breakfast. Dinner was extremely slow. The place was actually packed yet few wait staff made for insanely long wait. We were there two hours for dinner, and the appetizer dropped 45 minutes after we ordered it. Andre's dropped 1 hour and 30 minutes after we arrived. We skipped dessert because it was already almost 10:00 when we had arrived there shortly after 8:00. Had we chosen a dessert, who knows.... We might have been there until closing time. Our waiter was good, and had a great service personality, but he was completely overwhelmed. Check out experience was via the app and was the easiest part of the whole thing. Just as an FYI, parking is very strange at this hotel. There is parking all around the hotel, with four entrances. Yet there are really only about 20 spaces that you can park if you want to enter the main entrance. There are an unusually high number of parking spots that are "reserved" for Hilton honors "double secret probation" rewards members. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying $500 per night to stay at a hotel, I'm going to park anywhere except in a handicap parking space!!! And, if you're not there by 5:00 p.m. you are going to have to park on the back side of the hotel or on the south side of the hotel which has slightly inconvenient access points especially for the king suites where we were. Did use the business center, which actually had PCs. Overall, good experience....
Read moreOverall, I would give the stay a 4.5. The Casitas themselves are beautiful. We stayed in a two bedroom on the second floor. Very well appointed and having the fireplace in late October was very nice. The rooms were great, kitchen was great for the 3 days we were there, etc. The grounds are very well maintained with nice amenities. We did enjoy the hot tub. The reason for the 4.5 stars was we had to immediately call maintenance after we arrived as the fireplace gas was not on. We then had two more issues, the first being that the ice maker did not work (despite trying the switch in multiple positions), and what I assume is supposed to be a sensor controlled night light that has an array of LED's under the master bath vanity got stuck on after the first night. It was irritating enough to have the thing come on in the middle of the night when using the restroom as it is EXTREMELY bright and blinding. Not a night light. But then on day two it turned on and stayed on, and would not turn off. I had to block it with pillows and towels. I would much prefer to simply have the option to turn this light off as it is not needed with the ambient light coming through the windows in the bathroom and it is far too bright to be a night light. The other miss is that the Casitas have a hookup for a washer and dryer, but they are not used. Having to carry our laundry in the cold over to the hotel and then wait for a machine to open up is a major convenience. The reason for choosing a condo is for conveniences, including doing laundry. I highly suggest putting a washer and dryer in the Casitas as we would not stay again until they did. Lastly, the internet does not work in the hotel for guests staying in the Casitas. My wife and I used the fitness room and could not log into the system as it did not recognize our name and room number. Another guest had the same issue. When I went to the front desk, they said to delete the log in from our Casita, which did not work. Then they asked me to restart my phone, this did not work. After that they basically gave up. I told them I was a diamond member and asked if I could at least have a promo code. She seemed to reluctantly agree to this which is service issue. On day two I brought over a tablet that I had not yet used in the Casita and had the same issue so it had nothing to do with logging into the Casita first. The hotel internet simply did not recognize us in the system. Another inconvenience that needs...
Read moreFamily of 4 (kids 14 and 10) travelling from London. Experienced travellers including in the US. We loved Moab and enjoyed our stay in the hoodoo for 5 nights. I think based on travelling around town it’s the nicest hotel, it’s brand new, has two pools, best location with downtown an easy 2-3 min walk away. But it isn’t without its issues. We stayed in a 2 bed casita. Really nice big room and fully appointed kitchen. The only issue was the AC. We were in a downstairs room and in the height of summer. But we had two large units located outside just the other side of our master bedroom headboard. With both units going it literally vibrated the wall and only got worse as you put your head on the pillow. Clearly a design flaw affecting this particular style of unit at this time of year. I could just about manage to live with it but my wife is a lighter sleeper so when the AC kicked in again in the night it woke her up. She asked to move room but the front desk was very unhelpful. They said the hotel was nearly full (it wasn’t- Moab is actually a bit quiet between mid July and late Aug as it’s too hot for|Most ) so we’d need to pack everything up, check out - be homeless for|The day - wait and see if anything was available! After another sleepless night I asked again the next day by going to front desk and heard the same. Got a call at 7:44am the next morning to say another room was found immediately (different configuration with the bedrooms upstairs) and the problem was finally solved. The other issue was the food at the attached restaurant. The food was expensive and poor quality (probably the worst eggs Benedict I’ve ever had- how do you make Hollandaise a clear liquid?) I’d paid for breakfast to be included but got given a stack of weird cardboard vouchers on check in. No one in the restaurant seemed to know what they were but we handed them over each time. On check out i noticed we’d been charged for every single breakfast and then was made to feel as if it was our fault for asking to have them removed. No apology, just grumpy grudging poor service. If I wanted that sort of treatment I’d stay in England! A shame because it has the potential to be really amazing but Let down with a poor bit of design and a handful of (mainly front desk) staff that shouldn’t be working in the hospitality industry. If you do go and stay in a casita - make sure you request an...
