✨🙏 definitely come here for a short photo stop.. the Richard DAR House is one of the most beautiful and charming historic homes in Mobile, Alabama. It was built in 1860 by Captain Charles G. Richards. It has a beautiful Italianate-style facade and is typical for the Mobile of the 19th century.

Nice place and interesting things to see. The history of the building has nothing to do with the DAR but still a nice place to check out if you’re inclined. They offer tea and cookies at the end of your tour. My pics give an idea of the location relative to the downtown area.

We loved this museum!! Sheila and Mimi were so welcoming and helpful. They know all the great stories about this place. I am so grateful to the DAR for supporting this magnificent slice of history in Mobile! Loved it and so did my family!!!

We decided to take in a couple of the historical homes in Mobile a few weeks back. I did some research, finding that roughly 5-6 existed and open for tours. We drove over to Mobile, using google maps for location. There was lots of road construction, however, we navigated there successfully. There is only on street parking, so grabbed a spot and knocked on the door. We were greeted by two women, both volunteers. One belonged to a group of teens that volunteer their time to help further the education of historic homes. They asked for a small donation ($10 each) to help defray costs, which we happily paid. Our guide took us on a lovely journey through time, talking about the various owners, what was going on in those times, pointing out interesting factoids and information. I think we spent roughly an hour on the tour. We quite enjoyed ourselves. Of course, the tour ends in the gift shop, however, it was a collection of Southern items, locally made items, etc.. The woman that greeted us at the door, was there and offered us a cup of tea, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We visited with them for a bit, then departed through the garden area. What a nice way to spend a...

My sister and I came from Atlanta last Sunday to visit this lovely home. There are not enough words to describe what a perfect experience we had . We came on the day of a book signing in the front rooms , so we were lucky and got to learn all about the authors book on Mardi Gras and they had a LOVELY dining room set up with drinks and food . This was honestly the best tour we have ever been on in a historic home . All the ladies were so warm and welcoming . The tour wasn’t rushed and these wonderful and kind ladies were so knowledgeable about the history of the home to every piece of furniture . We learned so many cool facts about period pieces we’ve never learned on other home tours! Not to mention, they let you take as many pictures as you want, touch things, and sit in ALL the furniture . We have never been in a home that gave us that privilege before! The home is stunning and one of the most beautiful I’ve seen . It is truly a must see . Please support these ladies and this home ! You don’t want to miss this one. We will totally be back ! Thank you so much again ! We truly appreciated you all making our day! Wish there was an option for more...

I recently detoured through Mobile on our way around some weather from Florida back home to Minnesota. We were unsure about our plan for the day until we arrived in Mobile and conducted a search of the area. After being on the beach and by the pool all week we decided we needed some culture and history and settled on the DAR house tour to start our day. It was the Saturday before Easter and relatively quiet around town. The weather was...
