I ordered my Wedding Cake from here and in the beginning of our conversation I explicitly said what vegan options do you have. The owner then offered me a chocolate ganache filling which I got so excited about it… Then the owner said oh sorry I actually can’t do that vegan. I then sent my inspiration pictures which were a classic white heart that said just married and maybe had some flowers around it - very clean and classic looking. The owner then said you want round or heart? And I confirmed that I wanted a heart shaped cake (this was all over my wedding vision board and I told all my friends I was SO excited about my cute heart shaped cake. My husband picked the cake up and sent me a photo and the photo showed a round cake with red berries, red sprinkles, and what looked like crumpled tinfoil on it. I was convinced he grabbed the wrong cake so I reached out to the owner and she said no that was my cake and confirmed it was vegan. I asked what happened to the heart shaped cake and she said oh I should have explicitly told you I actually don’t do the heart shaped cake vegan…. Unfortunately I had to use the cake because I would be hard pressed to find anywhere in Baldwin County to make me a vegan cake with less than a days notice. The cake at least tasted great… But please BEWARE if you use this bakery for a special event or wedding and have a vision in mind you want you probably won’t be getting anything like it! They took complete creative freedom and threw my vision and requests to the curb. The photo below shows what I was given. Please also see the message of them confirming they can do a heart…

Dropout Bakery is the place that makes every other bakery look like they're just doing homework while these peeps are writing a thesis on flavor. Everything they bake is a full grade above the status quo, a solid A+ in deliciousness every time. What really blows me away is that they come out with a new menu every single week. That's not just baking, that's creative research and development. You can literally taste the thought, effort, and technique that goes into every batch. It's like they've got a team of dessert scientists working overtime in there, fueled by butter and cane sugar I've been cutting out sugar lately, trying to make better choices. But Dropout Bakery is the one exception I happily make. Their treats are just too good to pass up, and you can really taste the care and quality in every bite. And let's be honest, creating a business is not easy. Starting something new and having it actually do well is a serious accomplishment. You can tell the owners put love, care, and a bit of magic into everything they do. Dropout Bakery is proof that when passion meets pastry, everybody wins. The ambience has its own style and uniqueness, it feels collegiate, creative, and laid-back all at once. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay a bit longer, like a family bbq. If you haven't been, go. Just don't blame me when you start planning your week around their new menu drops. P.S. I love this place

I was looking at some of baked goods on display in the store. The brown butter cinnamon roll caught my eye. I also saw another treat but I don’t remember the name of it though. The woman behind the counter clearly explained to me what it was and named it. I looked at her and thought I was paying attention but can’t for the life of me remember what it was. I have a picture of it. If you know the name of it please let me know so I can commit it to memory. Anyway, I bought 2 brown butter cinnamon rolls and 2 of the treats to be named later. I was not going to eat the baked goods by myself. I shared them with my family. I just know I wanted to try these particular items. I cut off a piece of both to try. I can’t remember which one I tried first. I’ll say the treat to be named later was so good. It was covered in chocolate and it exquisitely made. It looked like a work of art. My description of it is lacking because I have no words to describe it other than it exceeded my expectations. I believe it may have been a macaron type thing but I’ve never actually eaten a macaron. The brown butter cinnamon roll was delightful. It was sweet but the brown butter gave it a taste like no other cinnamon roll I have had. I definitely want to come back and get more items to try.

Update in response to the company's reply that says "especially since we cleared it up over the phone"... nothing was cleared up over the phone. And to the other statement "we set it aside and never heard from you" I got a call from Lacey? at 3:24pm telling me my review was incorrect and the reason my order wasnt ready is not their fault, its mine. So let me explain "my fault" .... As I stated, I placed my order after hours on Thursday evening, again after hours , somehow I didnt realize my pickup day was set for the same day, Thursday (even though it was paid for after hours) I shouldve put Friday like she said in order to get it. It was a mistake that I didnt catch. However, even with that mistake, if we go with her logic, that its my fault I didnt change Thursday to Friday..... that means my order that i paid for, wasnt going to get made on Friday, because I didnt catch that my pickup said Thursday instead of Friday. 17 calls later, between 11am-1230 , is when i learn my order wasnt made and that they're out. But she did tell me they can have it first thing Saturday morning. I told her "I absolutely needed it today" she said they cant. I said "ok thank you" and then hung up the phone. I can only have sweets on Friday.

Extremely disappointed/upset with this bakery. I was looking forward to trying this place for the first time today, Friday(6/27). Now to make sure my order would be there and ready- before they could run out, I placed my order the evening before on Thursday(6/26) after hours. I received a confirmation text at 5:40pm. Great, I'll be able to pick it up Friday before they close- so I thought. Today(Friday 6/27) I called to check on my order before I drove that way. After 17 calls and about 1.5hrs later, someone finally picks up and tell me they didnt make my order and that they are out for the day. No one decided to call me to tell me anything or try to figure anything out with my order when I PAID for it the evening before. So you mean to tell me, you can take my money, not make my order, and not even call me about it??? Im even more upset they wouldnt make it before they close today because again I PAID for my order wanted...

The place was super cute and it's a great location if you're downtown or in the mood for a drive. The counter staff was friendly. A couple members of the staff strolled through the customer area and were very nonchalant.

I love trying new places and as a foodie reviewer , I wasn't sure if I'd be in this area soon so I decided to get a few items. The items are listed below with prices. Note: There was food labels. But they weren't any prices listed anywhere.

We expected to kind of nibble on these things over the next few days. But since a few items we tried didn't go very well, we decided to dive in.

CHEESECAKE CUBE $4.75 DANISH $6.75 Blueberry POPTART $5.75 Twix SHORTBREAD BAR $6.00 MACARON × 2 $8.00 ($4.00 ea.) Cake Slice $10.00 Cookie × 2 $12.00 ($6.00 ea.) Miso blondie $6.50

Sadly, most of these items were not very good.

The Blondie with the miso was too salty and strangely at the same time, too sweet. The saltiness left aftertaste.

The cookie was just a cookie. Nothing special.

The Pop-Tart was too much crust and very little blueberry fillIng.

The 3" cake layers (two) were over-baked, The mascarpone was good but the cake was so dry. It's hard to get the consistency of moisture and doneness with such a thick layer. It was pretty.

The Cheese Danish was just layers of phyllo dough. The cream cheese filling with piped onto the phyllo dough so when it baked left almost paper thin layer of where the dough didn't rise. Then there was a pool of line juice. Yes, just juice.

The Cheesecake was wrapped in a layer of thick chocolate almost like a bark. The Cheesecake had no flavor and the consistency was a bit too runny.

Pistachio macarons were dry and there was no pistachio flavor, they were just rolled in pistachio nuts. Needless to say, I won't be back. I'm going to "Drop Out". But they do get two stars for presentation, which...
