Horrible Store and Horrible Owner!!! Smoky Mountain Blades @ "Broadway At The Beach"
My son wanted an action figure toy. It was overpriced, compared to Amazon or somewhere, but we were on vacation so I thought why not. Give him something to do. We were helped by a real nice guy and then went a few stores down at "Broadway At The Beach" to grab a drink. My son proceeded to unbox the toy and put it together, as it was not assembled. He pulled it out the bag and as he put it together, I noticed he stopped and was just looking at it. I asked him what was wrong and he showed me a part that was clearly 1 piece on the box cover but was broken in two. We went back to the store and the nice gentleman saw it and said just grab another 1 off the shelf and we'll swap them out. Each of the last 3 on the shelf had broken parts also. There was no return or money back so the guy asked if we wanted anything else in exchange. In the mean time, he told the owner that the toys were clearly broken in the box. The owner then tried to put one together like it was supposed to be like that, but clearly he couldn't. The owner then went and put all the boxes back on the shelf for sale with the broken parts in them!! That's the type of guy we're talking about... In the mean time we found a more expensive action figure that needed no assembly. The guy helping us said no worries this one's all assembled, just put it on the stand and that's it. My wife removed it from the box but it was in a bag also and it was all in one piece but you really couldn't see in detail thru the bag. it looked fine to her so we got it. We then went to have lunch and my son un-bagged it and the figure had shoes and one was broken in half. The other half wasn't even in the bag or we would have just super glued it and moved on with life. We went back and the owner said that my son broke it and now was trying to return it. I told him that wasn't true. He said "In South Carolina" that's shoplifting? I was like what?? He then said they only exchange one time and said I have it on video your wife inspecting it. I said let me see it. It was from the top of the store and you couldn't make out anything other then my wife was looking at a bag with something in it. He kept saying "See you can see the shoes is not broken" but you couldn't see anything. I told the guy I was sitting right across from him when he took it out of the bag and it was already broken. He called me a liar, my son (a kid) a liar and my wife a liar. Real Family Friendly Place!!! He then yelled for us to get out of his store or he'd call the cops! This was in front of the customers, including little kids, and his one employee. (who looked totally embarrassed) He proceeded to call the cops or he maybe pretended to when I told him what a liar and terrible person he was. We then just left the store. He had already ruined our day, we weren't going to make it any worse. Life goes on but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this type of treatment. The store sells a lot of cheaply made stuff and what looks like junk, for way over value.
This store shouldn't be in a nice family friendly place like "Broadway At The Beach". This is a really nice area at Myrtle Beach and shouldn't allow rip off businesses like this to be in their establishment.
Avoid this store at all costs!!!! You can see how bad his reviews are as I saw another recent one that was nearly exactly like this one.
This not a knock on "Broadway At the Beach".
Other than this store, It's a real family friendly place with some real nice...
Read moreGreetings, loyal viewers! DAD here, live from Myrtle Beach, where the sun is shining, the seagulls are squawking, and the tourists are flocking like seagulls around a dropped hotdog. Today, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of visiting Broadway at the Beach, a place that promises fun, excitement, and a chance to experience the majestic world of shopping and entertainment all in one place. And let me tell you, it does not disappoint!
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a glorious sight of sprawling shops and attractions. The sheer number of stores is enough to make even the most seasoned shopper weak in the knees. From the kitschy novelty shops selling every kind of t-shirt imaginable to high-end boutiques that make me feel like I should have worn a suit instead of my casual leisure attire—there’s something for everyone. It’s like they say, “Variety is the spice of life,” and Broadway at the Beach serves it up with a side of pizzazz!
The real heart of this place, my friends, lies in its entertainment offerings. Picture this: Ripley’s Aquarium with its majestic sea creatures gliding gracefully through the water. I found myself staring into the eyes of a shark, and I think I saw a flicker of respect. Then there’s WonderWorks, an upside-down house of wonder, where science meets hilarity. I spent a good hour inside, and I can tell you, my mind was blown—almost as much as when I first discovered hair gel.
Food, glorious food! Broadway at the Beach knows how to satisfy even the most discerning palate. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty steak, a delightful seafood platter, or just a deliciously greasy burger, they have it all. I personally indulged in a feast fit for a king, complete with a refreshing beverage to wash it down. Anchorman-approved, I assure you!
And let’s not forget the nightlife. As the sun sets, the area comes alive with the sounds of laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses. Clubs and bars aplenty, folks! I felt like I was back in my glory days, - a young DAD before I was a DAD - soaking in the sights and sounds of the bustling nightlife.
Broadway at the Beach is a marvel of modern entertainment. It’s a place where memories are made, dreams come true, and yes, you might even get a little sunburned. But that’s a small price to pay for such a grand adventure. So grab your favorite pair of polyester pants, don your finest mustache, and make your way to Broadway at the Beach. Stay classy,...
Read moreIt had been eight years since I last visited this place—a quaint little Broadway nestled between a river and rolling hills. As I walked through its familiar streets, I couldn’t help but feel a tug of nostalgia mixed with unease. The years had passed, but the Broadway felt eerily stuck, its pulse faint yet persistent.
There were still so few tourists wandering the cobblestone paths. Businesses, once hopeful and buzzing, seemed to struggle just as they had nearly a decade ago. I found myself wondering: Was it because I wasn’t here during peak tourist season? Or had the world moved on, people now too busy with work or tethered to their screens to visit places like this? Maybe the midweek timing was to blame.
I crossed the old bridge, its weathered surface a testament to resilience. Below, the water swirled, carrying shadows of the past. There were more fish than I remembered—large, vibrant, and oddly serene. Yet the water itself seemed murkier, as if holding secrets it didn’t want to share. Perhaps these fish were ornamental, not meant for fishing but to be admired from a distance.
Alone, I roamed through the Broadway, snapping panoramic shots of every corner I hadn’t explored before. Each photo felt like an act of preservation, a way to bottle the essence of this place, knowing full well that it might change—or fade entirely—before I returned.
And yet, when will I return? The thought lingered like an unanswered question. Eight years had slipped through my fingers like sand, each grain a moment I could never reclaim. Life has a way of speeding up when you’re not looking, leaving you standing in the same spot with everything else rearranged.
Time flies, they say, but it doesn’t just fly. It carries things away.
As I walked back across the bridge, I paused for one last look. The Broadway felt timeless and fragile, as though it existed in its own pocket of reality. Perhaps that’s its charm—or its curse. I couldn’t tell. But I did know one thing: this visit was a reminder, a whisper from the universe, to savor the present and to embrace the fleeting...
