The first room had an undesirable smell in it that I thought smelled like pickles, my wife thought smelled like mold, and my daughter thought smelled like stinky cheese. We let them know and so they switched us rooms. The second room had some issues - the sink in the bathroom is disconnected and had mold underneath it, the toilet was covered in mold underneath the rim, there was a lot of black mold in the shower, the the fireplace had to be repaired two times while we were there. The lazy river which was supposed to be heated was too cold for the children to enjoy. Are the water slides which were prominently featured in all of the advertisements were not open for the season - however there was no indication of their closure online or by telephone. There was a fun little bridge where you could swim from the indoor to outdoor swimming pool but that was closed off by a thick piece of plexiglass. The indoor hot tub was continuously filthy with frothy bubbles filling the hot tub - sometimes yellow or orange in color. This was reported to management, they came out and looked at it, walked away, and nothing was done. The staircases were in need of repair and at the bottom of the staircase was a patch of missing texture which caused it to be slippery. My 9-year-old son slipped and banged his knee because of this lack of maintenance. The staff seem to be confused as to what time things were starting, how to pay, and where to go. The air bubbles for the jacuzzi did not work properly. The pressure in the garden tub hot tub was not very strong. There was no spatula in the kitchen. The comforter in the master bedroom add black mold toward the top where your face is. There was a slimy sticky substance both on the remote and also the nightstand. I had to wash the restroom and kitchen and bathroom because it was not clean.
Now that that's out of the way - the staff are very attentive and fun. We received several movies which are available for rent for free for your room. We enjoyed a duck race, trivia, a painting session, and making a tie-dye bag. There was plenty of parking available. There was easy access to carts to tote our luggage up to the room. The elevators worked properly. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the fire pits. The children enjoyed the playgrounds. We had fun swimming in the indoor swimming pool and also the outdoor hot tub. The outdoor hot tub was perfectly clean. The location of the resort was in close proximity - about 15 minutes from all the major attractions. Every morning I went for a morning walk at the beach which was only a block and a half away from our hotel room. We went to the beach and enjoyed it as a family. There was another annexed portion of the resort beachfront which featured rocking chairs another swimming pool another hot tub and also ping pong indoors. There were many brochures and local events listed in the lobby which we used during our stay. We took advantage of the timeshare presentation, did not buy, and received 10 nights in hotel stays total as well as a meal voucher which we used worth of $100 during our stay. Those in the lobby were very knowledgeable and were helpful and helping us decide what to do around the resort and also in the area. In the hotel room was a hot tub, and fireplace. There is also a patio out back with a beautiful view of the pool. There was a nice full kitchen with a working stove, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and many necessary utensils. The Linens were clean and the couch pulled out into a nice queen sized bed. There was a washer and dryer in the room which we used frequently which was very nice. The thermostat work well for keeping it both hot and cold. You can open the back patio and get a nice breeze in when it was warming up. There was shuffleboard and volleyball available. The location was great being 5 minutes from the airport and also very close to State parks. We went frolfing one day which was only 4 minutes away. There was a large lock box in the master closet which was large and had a light in it which was...
Read moreWe traveled from New York and drove 14 hours non-stop to get here with two small children five and two. They allow pets. They're supposed to be service animals but our guests next to our lied and just brought their family dog who was not a service dog as you could tell when they walked him he had no credentials and was wearing fluffy bows and was being referred to as "little princess" I'm an animal lover but we board our dog, this retired couple obviously view this dog as a child and a family member that is why they do not board him. I do not want to stay at a facility with animals, we shared a foyer area in between our rooms and this dog urinated on the floor also he barked constantly very loud. My five-year-old son has a dog allergy and my wife has tinnitus so The barking was very uncomfortable for her ears. The front desk moved us down the hall. But making multiple trips moving all of our luggage by ourselves since nobody offered to help the doors slam shot behind us. The guest staying in the room adjacent to ours must be going through something personally because after 3 doors lamps she charged at us using severe profanities! She even threatened my wife. We contacted hotel security and wanted to be moved but nothing was done. Our studio had a broken toaster, a toilet that did not flush, a broken kitchenette drawers that did not open or closed, but the most uncomfortable thing was the pull-out sofa. The mattress was severely stained, deformed, and unsafe. Half a mattress was flat and springs were sticking out. I had to take four ibuprofens every morning because of the pain I was in and I actually had anxiety about going to bed every night. They did bring a new mattress up but it still had the same problems, the sofa did not have an adequate frame to support a mattress. Unfortunately as the dad I had to volunteer to sleep on the uncomfortable sofa and my wife and two children shared the full size bed that was supposed to be a queen. The amenities were nice however the water slides were not open, and the pool had many yellow police line tape around it where you were not allowed to swim because of damage it looked very unsightly. Also apparently the staff told me there was electrical issues because the pool was freezing and they said the heater wasn't working because of the electrical issues. Would never stay at this particular resort ever again in my life. They offered me free tickets to a pirate dinner show if I wanted to sit through a 2-hour timeshare presentation stating for $40,000 I can enjoy eight nights every year at the resort in Myrtle Beach!!! I said they couldn't pay me $40,000 to come back here every year for eight nights! What a joke! I work in customer service. I would have handled my family situation entirely different if I was an employee
First off I would have moved them into a bigger room as an apology for booking them next to a dog then moving them next to an unruly guest.
Then I would have given him the free pirates dinner show tickets without having to do the timeshare.
This in sales is considered turning a negative situation into a positive situation. And who knows if I was treated like that maybe I would have gone to the...
Read moreI would like to update, a nice lady named Holly called and apologized for the 5 phone calls and for the phoned threats- to charge us for not attending something we said no to in the first place. Thank you for that. I hope it is taken as a learning experience. Again, hotel amenities are beautiful and its in a good location. The people were just very pushy.
Since we have been in this room, I have received 5 phone calls for this time share stuff! The last phone call, a guy told me if we didn't attend, some function at 2pm, we would forefit our security deposit!!!! I am furious that I have been harrassed constantly since check in!!! I had to call and tell the corporate office, if I was being charged $50.00 for something I didn't agree to, they would hear from out attorney!! Our initial impression was a bit upsetting anyway, as we were ushered from one desk to another, then to a back room where a person tried to get us to attend, (what I assume) is a time share meeting. We told the person repeatedly we were here to celebrate our daughter's birthday, she and another child were in the car waiting and we needed to feed them, she kept talking. She was friendly, Extremely. But I was tired- it was 9pm, we wanted to go eat something! Not to mention having worked all day, I just needed my key and my room number. An hour later, I got arm bands for our stay, she says (while following us out the door) you are going right? I said, we really have to go. I emailed the property after, since she still gave us a load of paperwork and told to be at another building at 1:45pm on Saturday when I clearly said numerous times we can't and I am NOT interested, thank you! Then she said something about wanting to give us $125.00 for dinner, etc. etc. I just wanted my room key! One hour and fifteen minutes for check in and She followed us to our car! Afterwards, she was so busy trying to sell us on this 7 day free vacation, she forgot our parking pass, forgot our gate code. I had to (reluctantly) go back in and get that! Ok, now to the room, its beautiful - the room looked like it had a tub in the advertisement, but it has a huge shower 8 people could fit in comfortably, that was a tad disappoining but okay. Still, I actually would have booked elsewhere had I known it didn't have the "in room spa tub advertised" The room is beautiful and well appointed. Its a nice place. But for the love of all things holy, chill OUT with the sales tactics and the high pressure-PLEASE! The place is too nice to be ruined by someone following you out the door trying to get information to sell you someone you don't want! I like the place, but will not return because of being pestered! I am a gold elite member - I have stayed in a lot of places, but I have never encountered this. I will not return due to the constant aggravating phone calls, in room calls and calls during my daughters birthday dinner and...
