This property has went MAJORLY downhill since it was bought out by Hilton. I stayed there 6 years ago and it was nice. I stayed there last week and the day of checkout I discovered bite marks on me that have same appearance of bedbug bites per google.😭😭😭 I followed up with the hotel 2 days after initially informing them to see if they found the bugs and they said the room was currently occupied and they were going to have it tested after they checked out. They were made aware of this within 24 hours after I checked out and still put people in that room or didn’t vacate them after they were informed. I know this because when I called to follow up 2 days later, they told me a test would be performed AFTER new occupants checked out of room. It is very negligent to put people in a room prior to it being tested after receiving that kind of information? Additionally a lot of the layout chairs were ripped and the pools were in poor condition and lazy river was not clear and there were lots of bugs in it and the pool. This property is not managed properly and should be rated 2 stars. The pictures are not a true representation of current condition of the “resort”. I am shocked I paid a resort fee considering the condition of this property. I never leave bad reviews, but was highly shocked by the appearance of this place. The room smelled musty too and there were still clothes in drawers of previous occupants. Again, this place is not being managed properly and workers are clearly not being held to any standards. You could hear the plumbing rattle too from the people above. I guess it was the plumbing, but something was shaking on and off in the walls throughout our stay. They also allowed people from RV park next door that they apparently own to use the pool and amenities, which I personally thought was a little ghetto. During previous stays, they used to come around and take your drink order by the pool. No one was even at the pool bar for over 30 minutes when I went to order a drink. Appears the people managing this place want to charge the rate of a 4 star property for something that is in a 2 star condition and NOT kept clean. I regret not taking more pictures of the condition of this place, but was honestly embarrassed I stayed there!!!

This was my first stay at a DoubleTree, and since it claims to be a 4 star hotel, I’m reviewing it with that in mind. First off, the carnival like band they make you wear is annoying. They already have card controlled gates everywhere for pool and elevator access, so wearing this thing for three days feels unnecessary. Plus, every band has a pointy end that pokes you from time to time (see attached pictures). There were no room slippers. Again, I’m reviewing this from a 4 star perspective. A hotel that claims to be 4 stars usually provides slippers for use inside the room, especially since the floor wasn’t very clean, which is another downside. Room service didn’t happen. I spoke to a staff member who was cleaning rooms nearby and asked for our room to be cleaned and fresh towels. I even mentioned that I left a tip on the table. But when we came back after five hours, nothing had been done. I’ll be checking out shortly and will finish this review if anything else comes up. Update: As expected, there were billing issues. I smelled the trouble miles away when the rates disappeared from my Hilton app, something that rarely happens. Upon checking the folio a couple of hours before checking out, I found that my "complimentary upgrade" came with ~$80 fee. It took 30 minutes (including time spent standing in line) to fix the issue, which ruined the mood of my morning, especially since I was about to do a six hour drive home. Also, my room keys never worked, which meant we could not access the pool or elevator since the digital key does not work for those. We were always with friends who could help us in, but it was definitely inconvenient at times. I complained to Noah (who reached out to me through message) about the key issue, and she said a new key would be sent to my room, but that never happened. It felt like talking to a wall, as she never responded again. One star it is. As a Diamond Member, I will not come back.

I have been a Hilton Honors member for almost 10 years and I have never stayed at such a disgusting, run-down Hilton establishment. The only saving grace was the beautiful beach-front view. Otherwise, the grounds were structured in an odd way, where we had to walk through cramped outdoor garages to reach the elevator to go to our room. If we weren't careful, a car could have hit us as we were exiting the elevator. I did not feel safe or secure; anyone off the street could access the elevators. There was a trailer park to one side and construction on the other. The pools were dirty with garbage (e.g. chip bags, water bottles, straws, leaves) in it. I never observed anyone tending to the pools and lazy rivers. There was only person tending to the pool bar, so the wait to place your order for drinks and food was incredibly long. The elevators smelled dank and musty. It gets worse - I visited 4 different hotel rooms. They all had some degree of mold in the bathrooms, carpet stains, sheet stains, and/or fixtures and structures falling apart. The one we ended up staying in was the least bad and unsanitary. And to make matters worse, I saw a cockroach on the wall outside the room. And my friend ended up getting sick on the last day that we were there. Turns out, the doctor thinks that it was environmental from the hotel. I take allergy medications everyday for year-round environmental allergies, so I truly believe that's why I didn't get sick. I wanted to leave the property and stay somewhere else, but all of the other Hilton properties were sold out and I was there on a prepaid, timeshare promotional offer, so I wasn't prepared to cough up an additional $500+ to stay at a non-Hilton hotel when I was only going to be there for 3 nights total. We made the best of our vacation, but my advice to anyone else - DO NOT STAY HERE.

We booked this as part of a promotion where we had to attend a time share presentation (which is located at a different property). When I saw the reviews a few weeks later, I was concerned. Thankfully, our stay wasn't as bad as some of experiences others have had, but I can definitely attest to some their experiences. The Good Our room was updated (looked fairly new) and clean. The views of the ocean from the balcony were great. Due to the construction and probably the off season, the place wasn't packed with guests and was fairly quiet. Great for us, but may not be the same for you depending on when you visit. We weren't close to any extreme construction, so the noise wasn't a huge problem other than some backup beepers during the day. Parking structure was on property, and fairly easy to access (though there was a charge). We received a $30 voucher for each night we stayed for the beach bar on property. It was OK-the bartender Shannon was a cool dude and very informative. You get free access to a pier there, which does nothing for me personally- but if you wanted to fish off it or go for a stroll, it's about the only amenity being offered currently. The front desk appeared to be understaffed, but they were friendly, as were what little staff we saw or interacted with around the property. The OK or Not So Good Check-in took forever and was extremely confusing. This hotel is located probably a mile from the main action of the strip, just keep that in mind. That might not be a bad thing if you have a car and intended to visit places like Murrells Inlet, or don't plan to spend much time in the touristy section. You won't realistically be walking to the action from here, however. There aren't really amenities here currently, to qualify this property as a "resort" or even that of a mid level hotel. No room service, not many employees running around, 1 bar that closes early, and 1 small pool. It's located near a smallish airport and planes literally go right over the hotel (helicopter tours also). On the bright side, there was little or no traffic during the night and I don't recall is being a huge problem for our stay overall. The only restaurant on the property is a small beach bar that is on par food-wise with something like a Denny's. Stick to bar food there (wings, apps, etc) and it's passable. You need to do a fair amount of walking to get around the property and some of these areas really do feel like you're in a construction zone- uneven ground leading to the bar, hazards to navigate, total confusion on which way to go, etc. For us, it was more a matter of confusion, trying to figure out where we shouldn't be and being careful. But be mindful if you are there with small children or seniors with mobility issues. While we didn't have any real issues with the room itself- it was modern and clean- there was nothing luxurious or remarkable about it other than the view of the ocean. It's average size, tiny fridge, microwave, TV, etc- everything you need, but nothing fancy. In the part of the building we were located (south end), it kind of felt like no mans land and makes things a bit confusing at first. For example, when we first arrived, there were no carts or trolleys to take the luggage up 5 floors. I had no idea where to find one and there was no one around to even ask.

All in all, our stay was decent and we got a great deal on it for attending the presentation (which is another review entirely- just make sure you go to it if you booked under those terms or you will be charged). When the project is completed, I do think it will be a nice resort-style property, but I don't expect that to be until the Fall (realistically). Our biggest gripe is they really didn't make clear the level of construction and disarray at the time of booking. I wouldn't pay anywhere near $400 a night to stay here (or whatever they said it typically goes for) in it's current state. But we made it work. When it's done, I would consider the possibility of staying here again, depending...

If i could give this place ZERO stars I absolutely would. Where do I begin? Checkout: Arrival 1 hour after checkout to be told "we dont have your room cleaned or ready and we do not know when it will be available". I said, so I am paying for a room I cannot use. They had no clue when it would be done and told me they were still busy from the holiday. The holiday was TWO WEEKS prior. I had to ask for compensation- as their suggestion was hang out in the restaurant or the beach. SO I was going to pay for a room that I might not have even been able to use until 10, 12 or maybe tomorrow?! After driving 10.5 hours, that’s not really what you want to hear. No courtesy call or information telling us our room was unavailable from the hotel. They just waited for folks to show up and then say “by the way, we don’t have a room that you paid for ready”. Then, they offered an "upgrade". Upgrade was a JOKE. I reserved a king room (oceanfront) and I got a queen room "oceanfront". The bedroom was at the front and a raggedy disgusting couch was the oceanfront view. AT 6 PM, Where else were we supposed to go to book another stay? Then, I inspected the room… I had to clean the entire room and shower myself from all the black mold, hair, blood and dirt that covered the tub and surrounding walls. After complaining about this, all of a sudden they had housekeeping to come clean my room? It was already done by me, so what was the point. The floor was DISGUSTING with dog pee and food all over. The bathroom vanity also had blood on the wall. There was blood on the ceiling, The sofa bed looked like it went through a few college benders it was so nasty. The carpet was musty and looked like it had never been clean. No water bottles in the room (as promised by the hotel), no cookies (as promised by the hotel), the patio door was broken and would just fling open and shut, electrical outlets falling off the wall, hear every single noise from the joined rooms, and yet they still wanted to charge me resort and parking fees? They sent me a text asking about my stay and I gave it a 1 rating- I informed them from checkout until now the room was disgusting and I was displeased. I was promised a full resort fee refund- ALSO a joke. They refunded me one day of resort fees, and then the restaurant decided to charge my room AND my debit card for a meal (which was also disgusting, by the way). I had to fight through 7 people and 24 hours to prove to them that THEY were wrong and owed that money back to me. Some guy at the front desk couldn’t keep quiet long enough to listen to me before having a response about how right he was about the charges without even understanding that he was wrong in the information he was conveying. Then they transferred me to a “finance department” which is someone’s voicemail who never calls back. Then I had to call Hilton customer service to get ahold of someone ELSE to help me with the additional charges. THEN I had to send screenshots of my bank statements to prove to them they charged me multiple times for invalid charges. By the evening, at 10:30 PM was when they thought it was appropriate enough to TEXT me that they “resolved the issue” and they didn’t. The additional room charge was STILL there and I had to explain the story AGAIN before they would refund me the charges they took from my account and charged to my room. When I say ZERO care was given for this ridiculous, awful and disgusting stay I mean it. The nerve to ask me for more money for fees after all that was astounding. They should have called me to comp a stay somewhere or give me some money back for me having to clean this disgusting room myself (aside from resort fees which are EXTRA on top of the booking by the way). This hotel should be condemned, not remodeled. They reply and encourage people to come back to see their remodel progress- making pretty rooms will never fix terrible customer service paired with them. This hotel is Y.U.C.K.- Throw the whole hotel AWAY UPDATE. THEY ADDED THE RESPONSE AND I MESSAGED AND they never...

Let me start off saying I’m am not complaining person but when I pay so much for the stay I’m of course going to be picky ! I have never wrote a review for ANYTHING let alone a bad review !!! That is because I manage a campgrounds back home so I’m very aware of what review can do to a business ! But I wouldn’t want anyone else to be tricked like we were into thinking it was going to be this beautiful hotel like the pictures online show ! We have been to multiple double trees and none of them were like this !! When you arrive and go to check in it seems like it is a very nice hotel ! The lobby and restaurant inside are immaculate so they are very deceiving!!! But once you start checking in to your room it goes downhill …This is when we started realizing the only good thing about this hotel is it’s location !! We obviously paid a good amount for just the room in general but when we arrived we are surprised by all of the extra fees we will have to pay . We paid almost $300 extra once we arrived !!

The resort fee it’s self is $25 a day per person !!! So staying 4 night you will be charged an extra $100!!! “This resort fee includes Daily Resort Charge will be added to the room rate and includes: Internet access; Springmaid Pier walking pass; unlimited mini golf; board & life sized games; beach towels; signature southern hush puppies; 10% off gift shop; in-room bottled water daily; coffee station; local & toll-free calls.”-Per their website The Springmaid pier costs $8 to walk on. The life sized games definitely need some love! We were never given any bottled water other than the two that were in the room when we arrived . We never received any extra toiletries and if you wanted the room clean you would have to go to the desk and request it( that’s probably one of the fees😂) So really it’s just a joke ! Then To add on top of that if you want to park within the property that was an extra $10 a day😂😂😂 ! Just keep racking them on !

First we were put on the third floor, which if you want a good view of the ocean make sure you are the third floor and up !! As we went into the bathroom we noticed there wasn’t a bath tub and the toilet was super loud !! When we booked we requested a bathtub in the room for my mother who can not stand in the shower for long . If there would have at least been a shower bench or something we would have been okay ! But like I said we very specifically said we wanted a room with a bath . So we went and had our room switched and the employees were happy to do so . Most of the employees were very friendly and helpful but not when it came down to really explaining all of the extra fees.

So once we were moved to a room with a tub we were happy . Until we started looking around the room and how gross it was ! The wall had something smeared all on it,the bed and floor were stained like someone had just died on the bed ! And the plumbing sounds were worse !!!! Both the shower/bath and toilet were so loud that it would wake you up if someone was using it while you were sleeping . The bathrooms were tiny and louder than the airplanes flying over us !

On a Tuesday around 1:30-2 we were trying to take a nap in the room and the housekeepers were so loud we could hear them over the tv ! Talking/yelling, their music and when going from door to door they were just letting them slam ? Which I can understand a little bit of all of that but it went on for a good hour if not more ! To add on to it we had to go down multiple times to get a new key card to get into our room ! I actually have never even wrote a review before. Let alone one for a hotel, since I manage a campground I know what reviews can do to a place. But I would 100% recommend you look else where to stay that is why I’m doing this ! Below you can find pictures of the walls, bed and outside ac hook up ! If I could post the video of how loud the toilet really was I would...
