There's no question this mall, like most of its type, has struggled over the past several years. It's lost two of it's four classic anchors, Macy's and Sears are no more. Dillard's and JC Penney are hanging tough . JC Penny went through the huge reset a few years ago (I remember when it had an escalator leading to a second floor) and is still pretty nice. There are other nationally known stores like Victoria's Secret, a relatively new Guitar Center, several nice athletic shoe stores, Hollister, and several others. However, it is also occupied by a large number of "who knows what" type of stores and just plain empty ones. The property itself is definitely showing its age and the food court, well, not much reason to go there. This isn't the type of place you'd go hang out at all day anymore. Still, if you want to experience a suburban mall and physically touch and try on garments, this mall isn't bad. The Dillard's especially, has been extremely valuable for dress clothes for the family and can have some tremendous bargains if you pay attention. The Dillard's cosmetics department and men's fragrance counter are about the only game in town on the north side, except for maybe Ulta in Hendersonville. It's neat and tidy, well-stocked, and the staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The surrounding area offers lots of other nice retail and food options besides what's in the mall. If I was ranking it on the mall property only, it might earn a weak 2, but considering the anchor stores and surrounding...
Read moreLooks like it might have been a good mall at some point, but now itâs obviously on the decline. At least 1/3 of all the shops are empty or closed (including center kiosks) and another 1/3 are swap-meet vendors, random liquidators, and mom/pop places selling generic, made-in-China junk. During our visit, the food court had no well-known chain vendors/franchises, it smelled bad, was dirty, and the carpet by the kids area was gross/disgusting. Sears was apparently one of the anchor stores, but it is now closed, as is the RiverGate movie theater in the north side parking lot. Finally, the area has a real unsafe vibe - a transient person, who appeared to be on drugs, approached our car in the parking lot, screaming (we had to call the police) and there were shady individuals walking through the mall itself - including a homeless lady asleep in one of the sitting areas. In fact, there are actual, official Goodlettsville police that stand watch IN the mall itself (never seen that before) and we watched them continuously patrolling and pulling people over in the mall parking parking lot and exterior areas. We were there during the holiday season, so it should have been a red flag, considering that, when we initially pulled up to the mall, we found an almost entirely empty parking lot... There is a reason people arenât coming here to do...
Read moreRivergate Mall overall is a nice small to visit. However, where at one time Rivergate Mall had many, many stores located at Rivergate Mall. The area is nice, and easy access to other retail stores centered around Rivergate Mall. Where at one time Rivergate Mall had many retail stores before the pandemic. But from what I have heard, there are in the works of bringing additional businesses to the area surrounding the Rivergate area there in, Goodlettsville. Also, there is talks of building a apartment complex where Macy's retail store was located at Rivergate Mall, at the end of Rivergate Mall. Hopefully, not, because if a apartment complex is built on the property of Rivergate Mall retail stores, there's always going to be a concern about additional perpetrators whom are at easy access to shoplifting, or if not, merely just having apartment complex that close to RiverGate Mall, there's always going to be concerns. I do think it's a good idea to bring businesses into the area, but I do not think it would be a good idea to build a apartment complex on site at Rivergate Mall. There is enough crime being committed every day by someone, or persons. Although, there is need for additional homes/ apartment complexes to draw in people in need of housing, and to improve the city of, Goodlettsville, and it's continuous need...
