This is a great theater! AMC is always my go-to when I’m watching a movie because the recliner seats are comfortable and as a popcorn addict I appreciate the refillable giant bucket they have. AMC always had amazing ice, I know it’s a weird thing to comment on but it’s true, and their salt and butter stations near the soda machines are awesome so I don’t feel silently judged asking the salesperson for even MORE butter every time x) This theater has great seats, theaters one through three are on the second floor which is where I saw Avatar: The Way of the Water and it’s nice because there’s a separate soda machine on that level too so you don’t have to go downstairs to the entrance if you want a refill, instead there’s another machine right outside the theater. I ended up sitting all the way in the back since it was a booked theater but I still could see every thing perfectly clear so it was a great experience. The second Avatar movie was actually pretty good. It was 3 hours long which was longer than I thought it necessarily had to be, the characters themselves at one point seemed to be overwhelmed by all the plot points, however as a sequel it really did it’s job of entrancing it’s audience with the world of Pandora. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the movie and would recommend fans of the original to see it!

This may be one of my favorite AMC locations in the city. I don't much care for the one at 42nd Street. Kips Bay is nice. I really like the staff at 34th Street but in the evenings it gets really busy. This one was busy but you'll just love those extra big red recliners they are the best and nobody is sitting too close to you they're not bumping you in the aisles because guess what, there's enough room between the end of your reclined seat and the next row of seats that they don't have any reason to be stepping over you. This isn't so in the beautiful huge IMAX stadium seating at Lincoln Center. I love the decor in this location and while the refreshment stand was pretty busy and the way it's arranged you're going to get bumped into by other patrons but they're better staffed than Magic Johnson so the line isn't unreasonably long.

AMC on 84th Street has been a diamond in the rough for more than a decade and it’s age is part of the reason I’ve held back on the 5th star. Long before the likes of Alamo Draft House upgrading a night out at the movies to Premier Class there was AMC on 84th. A smaller floor plan (fewer screens than Times Square) makes room for seat selection. AND the reclining leather seats that fold out to an almost flat-bed are larger than those you see on premium upper class airlines today. If you have a weekday off I suggest you try the matinee where crowds are slim during the most recent uptick in COVID. With a sprinkling of movie-goers there was room to move if I didn’t feel comfortable close to other people. Still, I noticed masks worn while not eating popcorn or drinking a Diet Coke. Great spot for date night too.

I’m not sure if this is this location’s issue or an overall AMC issue but there really needs to be a better way to monitor assigned seats. I arrived a little early to have time to get my snacks. I took the time to pick out the seat I wanted, which was directly center-facing, and except for 3 seats on the end, that row was empty when I bought my ticket just 40 minutes prior. When I get to my assigned seat, a woman was sitting in my seat with 3 additional people sitting beside her. I kindly let her know that she was sitting in my seat and proceeded to show her the confirmation with my seat number, date and movie time. She then showed me a small paper ticket with most of the writing rubbed off except for the same seat number I had. I definitely could have challenged this but given the previews had started, I just let it go and sat directly behind them because at the time, no one was in those seats but it was hard to get comfortable looking over my shoulder wondering if someone was going to come in and claim the seat I moved to. Like I anticipated, the actual seat holder for the seat I moved to came with 5 other guests, so I explained to them what happened and then I moved again. By this time, the movie was about to start. Then all of a sudden, a group of 6 people came to the row I moved to. I asked the woman closet to me from the group if I was sitting in one her seats. She said yes because 2 more were coming. I again explained to her what happened and moved over one seat to accommodate the 2 additional people that were coming while still maintaining a middle seat. Well, one of the 2 people who came afterwards wanted to give me a hard time, saying that I should respect the assigned numbers of the seats. I told him to go tell that to the woman in my seat which is why I had to move 3 times in the first place. Not to mention, where I had finally moved my seat to did not interfere with the seats his group reserved, so I let him know he needed to pipe down or go get an AMC employee to work this entire thing out, including with the woman in my initial seat. So, he finally calmed down. I thought AMC dropped the ball by double selling a seat. But turns out, another patron on my initial row told me that about 15 minutes after I moved the first time, some random person walked in, spoke to the woman who was sitting in my assigned seat, then she and her guests got up and left. The whole experience was uncomfortable and inconvenient. AMC needs to do better at checking tickets or go back old school when Ushers were visible and...

AMC Theatres, 84th Street Location: A Top-Tier Movie-Going Experience with Minor Hiccups

As an avid moviegoer, I have frequented many theaters over the years, but the AMC Theatres at the 84th Street location consistently stands out as my favorite. This theater offers an overall exceptional experience that keeps me coming back time and time again.

Ambiance and Comfort

One of the most appealing aspects of the 84th Street AMC is its comfortable and well-designed seating. The seats are spacious and plush, providing the perfect environment for enjoying a film. Unlike other theaters that can feel cramped and overcrowded, this location never feels too busy, which significantly enhances the viewing experience. The theater's ambiance is inviting and well-maintained, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere from the moment you walk in.

Consistent Quality

I have been visiting the 84th Street AMC for years, and the quality has remained consistently high. The picture and sound quality are top-notch, ensuring that every movie I watch is an immersive experience. The cleanliness of the theaters and common areas is also commendable, reflecting the staff's dedication to maintaining a welcoming environment for all patrons.

Customer Service

While the overall experience at the 84th Street AMC is fantastic, there is one area that could use improvement: the concession stand. Despite the theater's many strengths, the wait times for popcorn and other snacks can be frustratingly long. There often seems to be a shortage of staff at the register, leading to extended waits that can detract from the otherwise smooth experience. Adding more personnel during peak times would greatly enhance the efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Recommendation

In conclusion, the AMC Theatres at the 84th Street location is a top-tier destination for movie enthusiasts. Its comfortable seating, consistent quality, and welcoming ambiance make it a standout choice for anyone looking to enjoy a film in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. While the long wait times at the concession stand are a minor inconvenience, they are not enough to overshadow the many positives this theater offers.

If you're in the area and looking for a reliable and comfortable place to watch a movie, I highly recommend the 84th Street AMC. With a few improvements in their concession service, this location could easily be the best theater experience...

Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting 84th street AMC for a movie night, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience, largely thanks to their outstanding employee, Damaris.

From the moment I walked in, Damaris greeted me with a warm smile and a genuine enthusiasm that set the tone for the evening. Her professionalism was evident throughout my visit. When a small hiccup occurred with my ticket seats were sold twice when we arrived someone had the same seat number , to be exact—Damaris swiftly and efficiently resolved the issue. She apologized graciously, checked availability for another showing, and effortlessly provided tickets for a future date. Her proactive approach and dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction were truly commendable.

Beyond her problem-solving skills, Damaris exuded a level of kindness and attentiveness that made me feel valued as a customer. It's employees like Damaris who elevate a good experience to a great one. Her exceptional service is a testament to the high standards upheld at this movie theater.

Overall, my time at AMC was nothing short of delightful. The facilities were clean, the concessions were fresh, and the atmosphere was welcoming. However, it was Damaris who left the most lasting impression. Her professionalism, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to customer service ensure that I will continue to choose Bad boy II for my movie outings.

If you're looking for a movie theater where you're not just another ticket holder but a valued guest, I highly recommend visiting AMC on 84th street , Damaris and her colleagues set the bar high for...
