I took my daughter in this place and ask the price for her hair. I showed a picture of her hair to Erika bc her hair was in braids. I was told between up and 100 dollars. So a week later or so later o. October 15th, I took my child in for a was and roller set. I was told she couldn't get a roller set due to her hair type and it had to be blown. Cary was trying to charge me 120 but bc Erika had already said 80 to 100 she had honored the price. She let me know next time 120 though. She seemed bothered and but w.e. She kept checking the person washing my baby hair, they all seemed annoyed with the process except Scarlet. My daughter has really thick and long hair. So I understood bc it drives me crazy too, that why I didn't do it this time myself. Scarlet blew her hair and then was directed to do someone else and make my baby wait. Before Scarlet could get back to her Lucy miserable self was blowing her hair. Did it in a total of about 5 minutes. Blew and wrapped. I felt like she rushed it, mind you when Scarlet was blowing another customer, who seemed like a regular called her name and said put more moisturizer on her hair. I'm realized why she made that request and was appreciative for her input. I asked Cary to do her hair, I was told no. Overall, Scarlet was doing a great Job but Cary directed her to help someone else so we was stuck with Lucy attitude. Lucy tapped my daughter and told her to go when she finished. Her attitude is so disgusting. She was in there arguing with customers. Took a lady used, wet towel to use for another lady. When the customer took her towel back. It led to a full blown argument. Scarlet had to tell Lucy to stop. That's so unsanitary but she was wrong and strong. My daughter senior pictures was the next day. Her hair was a puff ball and I was confused what I paid 100 dollars for. Bc the pic were the next morning, I couldn't take her back. I took a pic of her hair and showed Erika the next day. She said bring her after school to get it redone. I explainwd her pics were today, that makes no sense. She said well for retake, we will give you a $15 conditioner for free. So I was confused. You will do her hair over free now after pics are taken but for retake, I would have to pay the $120 that Cary had demanded but get a free conditioner. I said okay. Inside, I would never trust them to do her hair properly and for the last chance to have her senior pics come out nice. If we were Hispanic, they would have done her hair right from the start and would not have disregarding their F-up. I got a sorry and $15 free conditioner offer for next time. If they couldn't manage her hair they should have said that. They didn't attempt to flat iron. I feel like they just wanted the money, we were not regulars so they...
Read moreGood for a blow-dry that could easily last a whole week. But, this ONE good thing, is completely overshadowed by all the negative.
The service is truly disappointing - they never, or take forever to greet you upon arrival to the salon, and they do not respect scheduled appointments, and try to guilt you into doing rollers if they are backed up with walk-ins. Some of the stylists are very rude - when I came in for my scheduled 8:30pm ET appointment, I was told that I would have to, and I quote, "wait a really really long time", unless I did rollers. Last I checked, it is not the customer's job to accommodate the stylists' schedules if they fail to manage scheduled appointments, walk-ins and customer expectations.
There were about eight (8) customers at the salon, so they clearly mis-managed schedules. Clearly, they were walk-ins, but I kept being overlooked, despite having an appointment. And even if all those customers had appointments, the salon clearly did not staff up accordingly, or managed the expectations of the walk-ins.
I arrived at 8:30pm ET sharp for my appointment. They started to wash my hair at 8:55pm ET. They finished the wash at 9:10pm ET. They started to blow out my hair at 10pm ET (ergo, waited in a chair with wet hair for 50-mins). They finished my blow-out at 10:15pm ET. AND THE COST FOR A WASH AND BLOW-DRY WAS $78!!!! AND, I STILL GAVE A TIP, BECAUSE I HATE NOT TIPPING PEOPLE IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS WHEN I ONLY PAY $55 OR $65 IN OTHER TOP-NOTCH SALONS.
All in all, I was at the salon for a total of almost 2-hours for a wash and blow-dry, AND that was with a scheduled appointment of 8:30pm ET. Goes to show they could've kept my 8:30pm ET appointment, if they didn't prioritize the walk-ins, since my hair only took 15-mins to blow dry.
If you have plans/are on a schedule, and have some place to be, skip this place. They're just not reliable with being efficient with their scheduled appointments and getting you out at a reasonable time.
I'll be going back to Dry Bar. They at least complete a wash and blow-dry in 45-mins or an hour from start to finish, offer beverages/cookies, are clean, and provide friendly and above all, professional services.
Additionally, most of the stylists speak Spanish, which is great, but a few of them love to talk about the customers, thinking they don't speak Spanish (FYI: I'm fluent in Spanish).
There's a reason this establishment has a ton of one (1) star reviews....
Read moreThis place is disgusting. They have no concept of hair care. From the time you start the process, from wash to blow dry they are extremely rough with your hair. They wash it too rigorously, they comb it too fast when applying rollers and don't ensure your hair is not tangled. When they take out the rollers they just snatch the clips out pulling your hair. If you go here over time you will definitely loose hair. The workers are rude and if you ask them to be gentle, they have an attitude with you and start talking about you in spanish. Today, I am officially done. First, the lady asked what rollers I wanted, when I was explaining it to her she abruptly said with an attitude, "yeah I know". Well *itch can I finish my sentence. Then as I was sitting in the chair having my hair rolled the lady started yelling ,speaking to another co-worker. She did it multiple times so I told her to stop yelling in my ear please. I don't understand grown people who act rude then you check them, but they catch an attitude. So I am supposed to sit here and let you blow out my ear drum. And, I don't understand people who you are paying to do a service when they act like they are doing you a favor. Salons like these are still in business because they are in neighborhoods with alot of foot traffic and people continue to come for convenience although the place is horrific. They will wash 5 to 6 peoples hair and have them all standing with wet hair, cold waiting to get their hair rolled. Like wth, are we waiting for something free or am I paying to get my damn hair done. Lastly, don't ever get your hair relaxed here. They relax it and don't have a sink reserved for you so your standing burning to death waiting for a sink to become available. One lady today was waiting and looked like she had tears in her eyes. It's ashamed how they treat people for real and of course it's minorities just like them who patronize them and they could care less. Don't spend your money here....
