This is my Shangri La, my Valhalla, my rock, my weekend getaway. I’ve been going to green markets for over 10 years. Everyone of them has their charm, and compost drop off... But upon moving to Astoria from Brooklyn two years ago, I was nervous I’d be disappointed in the local farmer’s markets. I now think the Jackson Heights Greenmarket has everything one would need with no fluff. There are multiple produce farms, wonderful mushrooms and garlic, a local fish vendor, two amazing meat farms, a duck farm, three bakeries, many yogurts and cheeses, so many apples/grapes, bi weekly New York wines (try the table red!!!), and once monthly local grains. Perhaps the best part is the family at the corner that sells amazing Tamales and other delicious dishes.
Great markets like this challenge the notion that good food is expensive. The two meat farm vendors off punch cards and weekly specials. You can get grass fed/grass finished beef for the same price as the grocery store’s low quality product. The fish vendor always has specials and it’s sustainable and local! The produce, for the most part, is the same price or less than in a store - and you didn’t support Trader Joe’s using huge cargo ships that use tremendous amounts of fuel to get you an apple from Chile. Life is short, so buy local food and out more money into the community you live in. I’m grateful to ride my bike here and stock up...

You should also try Francesca's for pastries, including one of the best local croissants and definitely the best apple cider donut you can buy. Unfortunately, the donut doesn't store well so you can't stock up on them. Jelly version also available. Also a source for local meats including pasture raised fowl and beef, but most is frozen to survive the lack of refigeration. Try the smoked duck if the vendor has any left. You can also get fresh eggs, but you have to be there early as...

(10 box*$7). Still they cheat $5. Now it’s evident that they buy from 3rd party at cheaper price no matter expired or near expiry products and selling here as Organic. What’s a scam here. Buyers be...
