I am an Oberlin College graduate class of 1992. I am a traditional Irish folk music performer. I have performed at many venues in New York and Boston. I have worked as a librarian and teacher for most of my life. I consider myself educated. I am an avid reader, and my parents were serious actors in their early lives. My father and mother performed plays by iShakespeare and studied with Stella Adler.
I would not recommend this venue. I was invited by a friend, knew nothing about their policy. I came all the way from Flushing NY. I was 5-10 minutes late and I was not permitted to enter even by the producer. I had called and spoken to her on the phone before I arrived.
All over the MTA people are jumping over turnstiles, smoking whatever, lying down on seats, dancers, and artist routinely throw all of their clothing on the floor at studios and schools etc. People routinely show up to performances, church etc. 30 to 40 minutes late, and no were is anyone held accountable these days….
Except at the Performing Garage in New York under all circumstances.
What I heard coming out of the performance was pretty odd and the energy was off.
