I attended this church as a child of roughly 7 years of age and older shortly after Rev. Tyler Johnson arrived. I remember him being a tall man, extremely kind, and having a gentle face. He spoke briefly to his congregation, including the children, as they exited after his sermons. My father was career-Navy and our family lived in Portsmouth, RI several times. I remember the pews being of red velvet material and so comfortable that my father fell asleep on occasion. I loved the stone work and the stained glass of the windows.
