There are lots of family-friendly tours (many we did with delight in Newport) - but this is not one of them. If you have kids don't do this trolley tour. While interesting, it is not worth the aggravation.
As a family with two toddlers we prepped a lot before going on this trolley tour. The kids really wanted to go, and on the whole did well. When we got to the Transportation Center, the guide greeted us not with a hello, but with a "Do you truly think your kids can behave - this is a 1.5 hour tour!" When I replied "Yes", she gave me a cynical, disbelieving look. After 20 minutes, she asked me to keep the kids completely quiet. I would understand if they were yelling, but they were not - they were quietly pointing out boats. Other passengers reassured me the kids were doing great both on the tour, as well as when we got off. We felt incredibly unwelcome and it ruined the experience.
There are a number of trolley tours that do not sell tickets for kids. That's perfectly fine. We understand that having small kids around is not for everyone - but then don't sell tickets for small kids. This trolley tour should be upfront that they actually do not welcome small kids AND expect visitors not to speak while on the tour. Quietly speaking to your seatmate is common behavior for a tour and should be accepted unless otherwise...
Read moreDONT USE! Delayed our ceremony & reception
We used the trolley to transport our guests and wedding party from The Graduate Hotel in Providence to a church in Cranston 10 minutes away back in October. I had emailed the times I needed the trolley at the hotel ahead of time and they were terrible at responding that they understood.
I explicityly had two times that the guests were to be picked up and driven to the church. The first trolley basically did a drive by and NEVER stopped to pick up our guests. The second trolley stop had to be held because me the bride & bridesmaids would've been extremely late to the ceremony if we waited for them to drop off and drive back to pick us up. So I had to ride with my guests which ruined any surprise not to mention I was frantic. The church ceremony ended and the wedding party walked out and the trolley driver was no where to be found... He was talking to the other bus driver while leaving us out in the cold and never seemed remorseful. We arrived late to our reception...
Mind you the church from hotel was 10 min and the church to venue 5 min god only knows how much worse it would've been. Luckily the venue allowed us our full time that we paid for. This was the only vendor that caused trouble for...
Read moreI wish I could say they were great, but unfortunately I used them for my wedding recently and the driver completely forgot not one, but two stops and one stop included grandparents who we needed to get to the venue early so we could get pictures with them. Our driver was supposed to go to Middletown hotels we had hotel blocks at and then go to the Newport Marriott to pick up grandparents and aunts and uncles. He just did not do this round. These people had to call UBERS, and when we asked him about why he did not do this he said he already been there and wasn’t going again, well we clearly stated he needed to go there again in our contract. Then we had asked for him to stay near our venue at around 5:45/6 so he could drive us .25 miles so we could take pictures. The drive just didn’t show up AGAIN!!! As the bride and groom we had to go in our videographers car. Honestly it was so embarrassing. After all this happened we emailed to try to see where the miscommunication was and we have yet to hear a response. I wouldn’t recommend and truly I am upset we even spent money on this trolley as they didn’t do half of what we...
