We have stayed at Wild Dunes Inn many times before. |Pros: |-We went this season during Family Week where we were given vouchers for each day for breakfast at several different places in Ocean City, which was a great perk. It gave us the opportunity to try a number of different restaurants. |-The room was extremely clean.|-The lights in the bedroom were like charging stations with USB ports and plugs...so convenient.|-There is a fridge, microwave, small stove top, small dishwasher, garbage disposal...they even have a can opener and a toaster. |-The location couldn't be better.|-The bed was comfortable...we didn't use the pull-out sofa bed. (note: It says that up to 6 can stay in this hotel...we thought this would be challenging but it was perfect for 3 people for sure).|-It is across the street from the amusement park (pro tip: there is an entrance right next to the Impala Suites so you can get in there without having to go on the board walk...it saves you a couple of blocks and a lot of crowd weaving).|Cons:|-The WIFI did not work. We were told they were having issues with it and were trying to fix it, but over the course of the week, we never were able to use it in our room or even on the balcony. Although it wasn't our goal to be on devices the entire time we were in Ocean City, my daughter was finishing an online class and my husband was having some urgent issues at work...it made it extremely difficult to have to wander to other locations to get on WIFI to do these things. We will say that the management was very apologetic and offered a resolution, but it was still frustrating.|-The bathroom needed some upgrading. There were cracks on the tub, the mirror was stained along the bottom, there is very little counter space in the bathroom for toiletries.||It's my hope that they will work on the issues mentioned. Would we stay here again? The WIFI was such an annoyance that we would need to call first to be assured that this was fixed before...
Read moreI stayed at Wild Dunes a few weeks ago with my wife and son. It was a memorable stay, but not for positive reasons.
First, the parking lot is large enough to accommodate one vehicle for each of its 28 rooms. That would be fine if all spots were available, but they were not for us. Apparently they were doing construction in the parking lot, which blocked access to half a dozen spots, and the staff did not tell us about this until we arrived and discovered it for ourselves. So as a result we were forced to park a couple blocks away and carry our things to/from the place when we arrived/left. Once checked in we attempted to connect to the wifi and were unsuccessful. We called the front desk and were told the wifi was "spotty". The rooms have a sliding glass door right next to the front door (which makes absolutely no sense). The ridiculousness of this design choice isn't the problem. The problem is that you are forced to keep the curtains closed at all times so you don't have to watch people walking back and forth. But don't worry, you are not missing the view. If the curtains are open you'd see the rollercoaster in the park across the street, which you will also hear (complete with screaming people) until 11:00 at night. If you like surprises, you'll love the shower. The temperature goes from scorching hot to ice cold with ease. If you want anything in between you will need to constantly adjust the knob while showering, and enjoy the middle temps briefly until it reaches the other end of the spectrum.
The only positive I can think of is the location. If you are in town to enjoy the beach and boardwalk, the place is close. But then again there are countless other choices in the area that are as close (or closer) to the beach. If my family returns to the area, we will be exploring those...
Read moreWe have been staying at the Wild Dunes for years. It was always very nice and very close to the beach. Not this year. 1) The card key system was not working at the property, we along with numerous other guests got locked out. The front desk tried to tell us we didn't know how to use the card key. 2) The building has structural issues and the town zoning has been out to review the property--take note of the structural work being done in the underground garage. 3) They now charge 2% if you pay with a credit card, this was not told to me when I booked the room directly with the property. We would've paid cash had we been advised of this. It is noted on the reservation but the print is very small and is lighter than the rest of the print. Shame on them for being sneaky. 4) We had to beg to have our room made up but on check out day housekeeping was standing outside our door watching us take our luggage out. They also did this to another room that was...
