UPDATE 5/31/19 -Mi Cumbia is still hands down the best place for waxing in Philadelphia! I am always impressed by the service from the minute I walk in the door until the minute I leave. This time I saw Vanessa for the first time and she was absolutely lovely. I am always amazed at how quickly the waxing experience is but never in a rushed way. They are professionals at what they do!!! I will never go anywhere else for waxing in Philadelphia but Mi Cumbia!!!

UPDATE 6/15/2018 -My review of the waxing services still stands, but I wanted to review the pedicure services... I went for my 2nd Sereno pedi in about 6 months and cannot rave enough about it. Kelly is meticulous when it came to the nail care and polish application. She gave an amazing leg and foot massage, and she checked in with me the whole time. If you are looking for a nice girls day/night out -this is the service and the place! They only have two pedicure chairs which makes the experience very intimate if it is you plus one. Mi Cumbia is 5* and more. I will recommend their services to anyone and everyone!! I was in need of a new waxing place since I recently moved back to Philly. Mi Cumbia and Karina were highly recommended so I scheduled my appointment. Yesterday was my first appointment and I will definitely be going there for all my waxing needs! I arrived about 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment and on the dot, Karina greeted me and walked me back to the waxing room. WOW!!! She took the time to talk to me about waxing and the techniques and wax she would be using. This was my first full on Brazilian and she made me feel very comfortable. When she got to waxing she was quick (not rushed) and thorough!! She talked to me about maintaining the area to help reduce ingrown hairs and I left with a little antibacterial cream for the first 12-24 hours. In all the years I have been getting waxed this was ranked possibly the top. There was pain, but it was minimal. Upon getting home I maybe had 1 rogue hair not caught by Karina's eye. Not to mention the summer special that if you go back in 3 weeks, they offer a discounting follow up to keep you beach ready.

I will NEVER EVER EVER go to another salon! From the moment I walk through the door, I have felt nothing but peace and love! Karina, Mimi, Blanca, Gabriella, Justin, Zahar and the rest of the lovely woman in Mi Cumbia have become like family!!! Karina, the owner is the best!!! Her hands are magical! I have extra super sensitive skin and have had terrifying experiences in the past from other places. My face has been burnt from waxing and I have had major break outs from regular waxes. But the wax used in Mi Cumbia has saved my life! Honesty, I have been searching for an Oasis for many years and can not tell you how happy and blessed I feel to have found it! It's amazing how welcomed every single woman and Justin (Karina's wonderful hubby / owner) makes me feel during every visit!! I wouldn't miss my biweekly appointment for anything. All products sold here are natural and organic. The Lemongrass Sugar scrub is to die for!!!! Im totally obsessed and ALWAYS have a big jar in the shower. After 12 long hours of being an RN, I'm so exhausted, sore, tense, overwhelmed and frustrated. But as soon as I use this healing scrub and work it into my feet all the way up to my face, I feel refreshed and extraordinarily much better! It's absolutely amazing!!! Truly it's like having a spa in your bathroom. And believe it or not it's lemon so men also will love using it. My coworkers husband is so in love with this scrub! Lol!!! I give these scrubs out as gifts and they are ALWAYS a hit!!! The coconut lotion and everyother product sold here are just spectacular! Please come in and enjoy a delicious cup of Columbian coffee while you sit back and melt into your chair as you get the best manicure and pedicure of your life! I have been going to Mi Cumbia for a little over a year now, and it’s the BEST waxing experience I’ve had anywhere in the U.S. Right off the bat, you are greeting by the most loving and welcoming staff. Lucesita will help you with all your booking needs and never fails to have a smile on her face or a little dance in her feet. If you are new to waxing, Karina will talk you through an orientation explaining her technique and how hair growth/waxing works. Never have I EVER had a waxing lady as tedious, efficient, and personable as Karina. She even breaks out the tweezers to get any ingrowns in sight! After my first couple of waxes at Mi Cumbia, I could tell a difference unlike any waxing place— complete and utter SMOOTHNESS. It truly is the perfect wax. Recovery is fast and with her technique you aren’t in much pain during the whole process. Karina is always getting you to chat and distracts you from the waxing— she’s so easy to talk too, that sometimes I forget my bikini line is getting waxed!! I’m sure there’s cheaper places in Philadelphia, but Mi Cumbia is worth every. Dang. Penny. The service is beyond anything else you can get in the city. What I love most about Mi Cumbia, was the friendliness of the staff. They remembered conversations from last visits and always made me feel the utmost comfortable.
