Weekend Getaway in Atlanta – Roswell Mill Waterfall

Roswell Mill Waterfall: A Hidden Gem in Downtown Roswell I recently visited the Roswell Mill Waterfall on a tranquil Friday evening, and it exceeded my expectations. Tucked away in the heart of downtown Roswell, this waterfall offers a delightful escape for nature enthusiasts, families, and photographers alike. 📸 Perfect for Photos: The waterfall, although man-made, is a sight to behold. It was originally used to power the historic Roswell Manufacturing Company Mills. As the crystal-clear water cascades down over the granite rocks, it creates a mesmerizing scene. I captured some stunning shots with the mist from the falls adding an ethereal touch. 💦 Playful Water Fun: The area around the waterfall is bustling with activity. Families and friends were enjoying the sandy banks, dipping their toes in the cool water, and laughing together. It’s an ideal spot for playful water exploration. 🌳 Historic Charm: As you explore the trail, you’ll encounter historic markers, old mill buildings, and even a covered bridge that spans the creek. The remnants of the 19th-century Roswell Manufacturing Company Mills add character to the surroundings. 🚶♂️ Trail Details: Distance: A short 0.3-mile trail runs alongside the creek, leading directly to the waterfall. Crowd: While it can get crowded (especially near the falls), the vibrant atmosphere adds to the experience. Additional Exploration: If you’re up for more adventure, continue past the waterfall. The trail extends across the creek via a waterworks pipe (for the daring hiker) or retraces its steps back to the covered bridge. 🍔 Picnic and Facilities: Bring along a picnic basket! There’s ample space for picnics and barbecues. Plus, an on-site kiosk serves everything from coffee and tea to hot dogs and ice cream. It’s open daily from June 1st to the end of August and on weekends year-round (weather permitting). 🐾 Pet-Friendly: Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. So, feel free to bring your furry friends along for the adventure.

Perfect place to do Maternity or just photos in general. Crazy trails to get close to that waterfall. If you plan on getting close to it make sure to wear water shoes. You have to climb down to reach the waterfall or you can enjoy it from a distance at a balcony. If you get in the water becareful the rocks are slippery and I have seen a few people bust their 🍑. So make sure to use one foot to feel around and test if a rock is sturdy before you try to cross the water. You don't have to cross the water to get to the other side though. There is a bridge that you cross then go up some stairs and make a left to get to the waterfall. That's a trail for people with knees 👀( it's tougher going back). If you get lost ask some one for help they are most likely a local. Beautiful waterfal 🌊.

What a beautiful waterfall and quick nature walk with the family. We loved this rustic outdoor adventure. There was access for swimming and plenty of photo worthy sports. We thought it was an easy trail to navigate also. My kids had a great time too! Dog and kid friendly area. There were picnic tables available to eat at or for sitting. We did t get to check out the bridge due to a wedding event that was held but it looked like a cute walkover bridge to check out in the future. We would recommend this stop for a quick family outing or an all day swim event. We visited on a Saturday so the parking was a little rough but that may be due to the wedding and not normal crowd volume. This was a free place to visit.

Don’t go on a weekend! There were so many people there that parking was difficult. We parked a few blocks away and walked over. It was super busy because we chose to go on a Sunday. It was difficult to appreciate the waterfall with so many people in the creek and in front of the waterfall. The waterfall wasn’t easy to find as there aren’t any signs telling you where to go. It is to the left when you walk in the park and the covered bridge is to the right.

This is a hidden gem located in the town area of Roswell. There is a lot of historical information about the mill that used to operate. There are several paths you can take to get to the waterfall. Parking can be tough depending on the time of day you go. Week days are better to go for a visit. It is best enjoyed with family or friends with a picnic basket. You can swim and lay out along the water. Pet friendly too. They offer life preservers on site.
