Souper Jenny — Restaurant in Roswell

If you lived in Atlanta any length of time you have most likely heard of Souper Jenny; I lived here eight years and have had this place on my list forever and finally made it to the Roswell location for lunch in January. After eating my meal I’m seriously upset that it’s taken me so long, I now have a favorite lunch spot. Souper Jenny has a few locations throughout the Atlanta area, each café is unique, but all are cozy and serving up fresh and delicious food at an affordable price. As soon as you walk through the doors you’re greeted by lovely smiles from the employees, as well as beautiful and colorful artwork, it’s a super fun spot with lots of tables and chairs for sitting inside and they also have seats in the front and side of the building if you enjoy sitting outside.

The menu changes daily and you can check their website to find out what they’re serving. I had the lunch special which included a full sandwich, bowl of soup, a fruit, cookie, and beverage for $8. This is healthy, delicious, and fresh food that is made with love and I’m not paying outrageous prices for it…Thank you Souper Jenny!

The Absolutely Everything Veggie soup was served in a large bowl and had huge chunks of vegetables and was so delicious and perfect for this cold January day, you have the choice of bread on the side also, but I’m watching my calories and decided to pass since I was getting a sandwich and cookie. My sandwich was called Israeli salad w hummus and falafel, it was served on a rosemary focaccia bread with red and green peppers, tomato, red onion, served with a cilantro sauce. It was a very filling meal, I’m so glad I asked for my sandwich to be cut in half because I couldn’t’ finish it all. The apple was tasty and fresh, loved that they have La Croix as a beverage option, and the butterscotch cookie was YUMMY!

My friend and I arrived early, a few minutes after they opened and by 12pm this place was pretty packed. I will be back, maybe at least...

Love the location. Love the atmosphere. Love the variety of soups. Love the efficient and friendly help.

I used to eat at the one in Decatur all the time. I received great service with large helpings that were reasonably priced. That was years ago, but here, a soup and sandwich is $16-$18 dollars. Blame the COVID impact or not, but as a father of four I have to watch my wallet. On top of that, it seems as if the seasoning of the soup is different at this location and the way they're made. I recently ordered a Turkey Chili. The soup had plenty of tomatoes and peppers, but hardly any turkey.

Our family also went on a Friday and ordered two grilled cheese sandwiches. We were told they only made grilled cheese sandwiches on Saturday. We showed up around 1:50 the next day, ordered grilled cheese and they were out of grilled cheese materials. We were told when they run out...that's it. The lady said they don't have extra materials or restock right there like every other restaurant. We were disappointed, but now we know to show up at 11:00 am on Saturday morning instead if we want...

Souper Jenny deserves 6 stars. This year I began eating a plant based diet, so naturally my restaurant selection has slimmed down dramatically. Luckily, I am a short bike ride away from Jenny and her INCREDIBLE staff. Their food is made fresh and the menu is different every single day! In addition to the delicious hot soups and creative salads, being able to stop by for a couple quarts of soup from their refrigerator has been a godsend. They always have several vegan options no matter what. Their bread - from Alon's bakery - is world class & vegan as well. You can learn a lot about cooking healthy/hearty/delicious food from Jenny and her staff. Jenny even sells her cook books at the restaurant. On top of it all, Jenny is a generous philanthropist and has her own organizations dedicated to feeding our neighbors who are food insecure. So, do yourself a favor and stop by for a lunch combo or a quart (or 3) of soup. You will be glad you experienced the power of Souper Jenny. P.s. Shout out to Jamiesha!
