New indian food place popped up and immediately had me excited. Swung by on lunch and got the lunch special Non-Veg Thali. (They have a veg and a Non-Veg option) Came with a tandoori leg, rice, naan, a meat curry, a veg curry, a creamy sauce to balance the spice, and sweet rice for $20. There's also a pitcher of water at the table for your drinking convenience. Now, I normally don't care for tandoori chicken. However, this place lives up to its name. The chicken was fresh, tender, and rich with spices. I devoured it first before I had the presence of mind to take a picture. The meat curry seemed to be a dark meat chicken curry with a thick, rich brown gravy. The veg was a spicy chickpea curry. Both were great. The naan was also good. Some was fluffy and soft and other pieces had a nice crisp to them. I enjoyed both. The plain rice was just that, but it is there to act as a filler and a vehicle for the curry so no complaints here. The sweet rice was the perfect finish to the meal. The veg, while not offensively spicy, carried enough heat to make me thankful for the creamy sauce that accompanied it. The whole meal was very well balanced. I am excited to come back to try more dishes. Would recommend.
Update: Have been back twice and the tandoori chicken has not been a part of the lunch special. Not sure if this is due to very low traffic during the holidays. Hoping to see it return once downtown gets back into the...
Read moreWe ordered the vegetable samosas and wow, there was so much flavor. They were piping hot to the point where I yelped when the samosa accidentally made contact with my cheek (but I like it like that). These were absolutely the best samosas I've had - full to the brim and lots of nice flavors. My partner and I were also pleasantly surprised at the spice levels here. Usually, when we go to other places, medium-hot doesn't live up to its name at all. My chicken vindaloo was well cooked and had a lot of heat (next time i'll order less spice). As for my partner, he wanted a good amount of hot, and they definitely delivered - it was the spiciest curry he's had despite all the restaurants that we've tried. A win!
I also enjoyed the copper spoons that they had, held onto heat super well. The curries were also piping hot, so much so that I had to cool it down by spreading it out on the plate and waiting a bit. The portion was a bit smaller than I anticipated but you will be full by the end of it. Our server was also super kind, I think he personally went to the chef to tell them to make my partner's curry HOT. Happy to have found a place that cares about their quality of food...
Read moreGood things first. Food is really good. Really enjoyed the dishes and they are top class. Almost every where Paneer Sizzler’s served with some house made sauce. But not here.
I personally very disappointed with the service. Whole restaurant is almost empty but they still struggling to serve the food properly. For instance no cutlery provided, no serving spoons along with the food. We had to request for cutlery but they give just couple of spoons and no forks or knife. Appetizers come after your main course 🤷♂️. I have seen this pattern at several places i wonder why they serve all dishes together ( appetizers and main course). Also parking is on streets and paid parking. So include that in your budget. Note: I see the final bill has higher prices than what they have on menu. I am not convinced with the explanation they gave when I questioned them. This is a RED flag.
Management: either you fix the system asap before using it or give the credit in the end for excess billing and explain to customer...
