Went to the golden one center for a concert. The biggest problem is they don't open the doors until an hour before the show, which meant despite getting there over an hour early, We still didn't step foot inside until 7:35. We barely had time to get merchandise and waters and missed the opening act completely. The second issue is that I don't know if a sewer line is open or they don't clean the streets well enough. But the entire time we were outside and line. All you could smell was raw sewage, feces, and urine. It is so bad that the day after the show, I can still smell it, even though i've showered twice. I'm honestly confused at how so many people were eating outdoors with that stench, but a business center as big as that should be able to power wash their sidewalks at night with disinfectant.
You are not allowed to bring a purse or anything inside golden one. I spent $27 on 3 waters. Ridiculous. The food sodas and alcohol are all reasonably exorbitant but charging over $7 for a single water seems criminal, especially after forcing everyone to wait in tge heat in those lines outside because they couldn't open an hour earlier. Finally, the seats couldn't physically possibly be put any closer together and still fit a human inside them. Your knees will touch the back of the person's seat in front of you. The show was...
Read moreWhen visiting DOCO prior to major events at Golden 1 Center, make a reservation. We went 2 nights in a row & the wait to sit & dine was 1+ hours at the highest demand locations. The 1st night we opted to get food in Golden 1 Center but the selection & quality of food leave much to be desired. Chicken Strips & Pizza pass, salad pass, even the nachos & popcorn pass. The 2nd night we got there even earlier & still limited options if you wanted to actually relax, eat, & not have to race to event. The parking is pretty great. Usually you can park across the street in various garage options. Prior purchase of parking is recommended but not necessary if you get there early. The lack of updated traffic info trying to leave event is ridiculous. Interstate 5 South has been closed for months yet NO signage leading to an actual detour. The lack of traffic control is mind blowing. The lack of signage telling you eating option direction is annoying. When you exit or enter G1C, you are herded into various entrance/exits so you may not know which side of building you’re on. DOCO & Downtown Sac, update & improve...
Read moreReally nice place with a comfortable vibe. Service was excellent. Our waiter was a newbie and his manager watched him as he served us. He did a great job. Drink menu was extensive. Seems to me that they specialize in Bourbon and local beers that's right up my alley. The salad was plentiful and fresh. Liked the balsamic vinegar dressing. I had the half chicken and ribs with brisket chili. My wife ordered the burnt end sandwich and mac and cheese. The ribs were smoked well. Excellent smoke. Chicken was huge and juicy. My only strike was that the meat wasn't seasoned. I understand that restaurants have to cater to different taste and because they have wonderful bbq sauces that they often want you to use the sauce for seasoning. Next time I'll ask the to apply their rub before serving. My wife gave the burnt end sandwich 7 out of 10. I tasted it and gave it a 9. Great smoke, well seasoned and tender. Wife loved the mac and cheese and would not share lol. Loved the hot tin roof bbq sauce. Brisket chili was too sweet. Tomatoes in the...
