We stayed here one night before going to set up camp at Fort De Soto. Upon arrival, we found it a little tricky to find the front entrance since there’s no direct signage saying where to enter. There’s parking close by and they have overflow parking in the back of the building. I felt a little unsure leaving our camping gear in the car but since we got a parking spot close to the front entrance I was hoping for the best. But I would have definitely been worried if I had to park in the back where it’s not so well-lit. When we checked in, the guy (tall and wears glasses) who helped us was very friendly (Monday the 15th around 9:30pm). I wish I got his name because he was great and welcoming. We dropped our stuff off and immediately went out to find some dinner (their Tap Room restaurant was closing for food service at 10pm) so we walked a couple blocks to a nearby restaurant. The walk at that time was kinda creepy because there were very few people out and many dark alleys. When we got back to the room, we were excited to relax and watch some tv. This is when we realized our remote was missing the batteries and the battery cover. So my husband went down to the front desk to see if they had batteries. Apparently the guy working then told my husband that he ā€œfound it hard to believeā€ that we didn’t have batteries- I guess accusing us of stealing 2 AAA batteries? Why would we do that? And trust me, Sir, we found it hard to believe too. However he did give us batteries at least. Other than that not-so-pleasant experience, the room and stay was great. The room was a little musty when we first walked in but after putting the AC on higher, it mellowed out. The bathroom is pretty small with minimal countertop space but that wasn’t a huge issue for us. The building is older so there is some creaking floors but we appreciated the old charm feel. Overall the hotel is nicely decorated and almost felt too fancy for us. Check out process was easy and the guy who talked to us then was nice as well. We even stopped by the coffee shop, which had great service and tasty coffee. I wouldn’t mind staying there again in the future and maybe I’ll bring my own back up...

The hotel was recommended by some friends that live in the area. The hotel is nice and has lots of character. Parking is a little tricky but not bad. They offer a free shuttle for nearby areas but we didn't take advantage of it. We were close enough to every thing to walk. Didn't check the pool out but it had a decent crowd and everyone just kinda doing thier thing. Ate brunch and dinner at the Tap Room. Food was good and drinks were good. The bakery is also very good. The room wasn't anything to go crazy for even the king suite. They allowed us early check in because our room was ready which was nice. I'm not sure why the room felt the way it did but both the carpet and bedding felt damp even the following day when we checked out. Where this place shines is it's location and service. We went out Saturday night and met up friends. Started off at Parks & Rec. Then jumped on the scooter rentals went to a speakeasy. Then from there went to Lost And Found. Ended up getting a lyft back to the hotel. My Fiance had a little to much and I was basically hugging her to walk in. The night staff was cleaning and offered a wheelchair to help to get her up to the room. This was around 1 in the morning. I've stayed at my share of places and don't think I've ever had one offer a way to help get someone up to their room. Most just watched. I brought the chair back a little later after she was settled and was asked if she was doing better and anything else I may need. It was also probably one of the quietest hotels I've stayed in. No loud people even though we got in late. Street noise was minimal. We were able to sleep till almost 9 and being a light sleeper I was surprised. Next time we go back up to visit her friends we will probably stay there or maybe check out their...

Did a good amount of research for our stay in St. Pete and came to book the Hollander for 4 nights mid-week at the cost of $1,100. This was easily the worst hotel room that I’d ever stayed in especially considering almost $300 a night. The room shared its longest wall with a hallway/gathering area that had absolutely no soundproofing. It was loud every morning at 7am. Upon entering the room there was a pair of dirty underwear in the middle of the room, I mentioned to the desk and asked for a different room but none were available. The bathroom was in rough shape, had a loose doorknob with missing hardware, dark, extremely small, window with mold around the entire perimeter of glass, crumbling grout, paint smeared all over and a rotting particle board vanity that should have been replaced 3 years ago. The tub is also meant for a right hand drain installation but is installed as a left hand drain, dust was gathered underneath, you can feel the sharp edge of the tub while sitting on the toilet, which had a loose seat that slid around. Corners of the room had balls of dust and hair. The kitchenette area was very cheap with a $10 coffee maker and really bad coffee. The ceiling throughout the room and bathroom had various cob job patches and the wrong paint color. This place is supposed to be ā€œbohemianā€ or something but just felt like an interstate motor lodge, except less clean. Uber drivers told us how nice the Hollander is, my girlfriend and I just looked at eachother. The mini fridge kept our drinks cold. The pool area was nice and reception was friendly. We spent most time at the hotel on the front porch, which was nice. Not sure if we got the worst room in the house but won’t bother with the Hollander next time. It...
