Not an outlet store, cold blooded sellers. Patagonia brand is still awesome.
I went there on the weekend of black Friday, and there was no deals. I mean, no deals for black Friday neither for outlet standards (I gotta say that for sure less than 10% the store had discounts but very little discounts like less than 10% discounts). For this reason, I would never classify this store as an outlet (for the last 10 years I've been mostly shopping on outlets from multiple states, so I think I know how a standard outlet store feels like).
Also, the person who "helped" me in the store was lucky that I had no suicidal tendencies because if that was the case, that day could've been my last day on earth, and she would've played a strong role in the tragedy. Story: 1- I called the store multiple times during the day to ask about their sales to see if it was worth the 1 hour and 30 min round trip to go to this store. Oddly, the phone was out of the hook (giving the busy tone) every time I called. 2- When I arrived at the store I saw no discounts at all (nor for black Friday nor nothing else). To confirm I wasn't missing the discounts I asked the fancy burnet lady that was folding some clothes. She said there was no discounts. 3- In response I told her, "I wish you guys had answered the phone when I called multiple times earlier because coming here was not worth it" (1 hour and half round trip). She said "Sorry, we prioritize the customers at the store over customers calling". Without demonstrating any sign of sympathy and empathy she immediately turn her back to me and kept folding clothes.
It is a lie that she prioritizes customers at the store, because I was at the store right in front of her, talking to her, but the few items to be folded were still more important than me.
With all of that being said. Patagonia is an amazing brand not only for the product's quality and style, but also for the way they stand against what they believe to be true...
Read moreThe selection here at the outlet store varies, but the organization is very confusing. I asked a sales associate for help finding a coat and he kept pulling out different jackets from the same rack saying "this one is last years design so its $x.xx" and then would grab another jacket (that looked identical to the first) and would say "but this one is this years so its this much" and it was a huge price jump. I couldn't tell which was which design and the price tags don't reflect the actual price they will end up charging you. After about 5 minutes of helping me, the sales clerk simply walked away and started organizing racks. He did not want to help me any further and simply ignored me when I asked him another question about prices. I have recently moved to SLC so I needed warm clothes and they didn't want to help me out at all. I was very disappointed with my experience and would suggest going somewhere else if you think you may need help. I ended up choosing a jacket that one clerk told me was 40% off the tagged price and even though I had a calculator, the price when she rung it up was $20 more than my calculator came up with. I told her the discrepancy and it turned out the discount wasn't as much as she originally told me it would be. I would not recommend going to this store unless you know 100% exactly what you are...
Read moreI have been visiting this outlet for over a decade and it remains as one of my favorite companies to support. Yes, it is expensive. Even the outlet prices can be higher than you would expect. But I work in the retail world and I can tell you that unlike 90% of other clothing companies that operate outlet stores, Patagonia doesn't manufacture cheaper clothing specifically for their outlets. They use their outlets to liquidate late model product, less popular product (which includes colors, sizes, etc) and even slightly blemished product. (Which I have happily bought several times). If you go in thinking that they will have every size you want, you'll be disappointed. We are not wealthy by any means but we have chosen to purchase our kids coats and jackets every year for over a decade. Those coats have been worn and abused by two boys and are then passed down to cousins multiple times. One of their retro jackets is now on its 8th different 5 year old in my extended family. The staff has always been helpful and kind to me.
Considering the phenomenal product they produce, the warranty and service they offer, and their unrivaled commitment to preserve the natural environment, I will gladly continue to give them my money and...
