I have to highly recommend this gym to all my peers and friends. I originally signed up at this gym 3 years ago and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life for many reasons. 1. It’s easily the nicest Gold’s gym I’ve been too. The machines are always clean, the wipes are always stocked, the locker room never has thrash lying around, there’s plenty of machines and usually never have to wait for something to be open. They have great amenities like a heated pool, indoor basketball court, and both a sauna and steam room. 2. The staff members are great. Although signing up 3 years ago, I’ve only ever been as serious about the gym as I am now for about a year now. In this year, I feel as though I’ve bonded with all the staff. They greet me every day, some even know when I’m late for my classes!! They hype me up after a work out and it’s extremely encouraging. The janitorial staff are very responsive and work to make sure towels are always available. There is always someone in the locker room collecting thrash or used towels. The trainers are very encouraging and will explain how to use the equipment very thoroughly and will show you correct form regardless if you’ve signed up for a class or not. 3. This is probably the most important reason why I recommend this gym. For a year, I have been working with Gus in a group setting class and it has been easily, the best thing for me. I am excited to go to the gym every day because I’ve bonded with people who have the same goals, same aspirations, and same determination as me. These people that I interact with are people I consider family. We have developed relationships outside of the gym and it’s such a wonderful time together. We build eachother up and encourage eachother to push harder. We see each others progress and that in itself is encouraging to do better the next time. I was initially worried that during a group setting, I wouldn’t be focused on as there would be many more people to keep an eye on but Gus manages spectacularly. I’ve never felt left out or shunned for my abilities but encouraged to get better. Not only does he explain himself well, but he gives you the breakdown of what exactly the workout does for our bodies in ways for us to understand. He gives us nutritional facts and helps with meal planning and suggests different tactics of eating depending on our goals and body types. He acknowledges our problem areas for each individual and ensure we focus on that during recovery days. His workouts are very exciting and different from time to time so we’re not always stuck in the same routine. All this being said, I feel the need to point out the results I’m seeing having been in this class. I have seen a huge difference in my body and I CAN NOT EXPRESS HOW HAPPY I AM. It’s an incredible feeling living such a healthy lifestyle and remembering how you used to live. Eating right has never been so easy with out Gus’s meal planning tips. Sure I throw in some cheat days but the results speak for them self. Attending the gym 5 days a week and not once ever feeling reluctant to is such a game changer. It only promotes more gains because when I don’t show up, I’m upset about it and I do everything I can so that I can make the classes. And although Gus may be my main trainer, the other trainers are just as great as him. They all really seem to get a kick out of seeing the determination on people’s faces. They love their jobs and the people they work with and it’s easy to see that.
This is the first review I’ve ever made for any business but this is also the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a review to express how wonderful a business is. I encourage you to check this gym out....
Read moreFor the most part i’ve absolutely loved the gym! The machines are on the simpler side and there’s not too many, but the gym isn’t made for a large capacity of members (at a time) anyways so I don’t feel as though that matters much. It’s never crowded (which is a huge plus) There’s plenty of amenities, like the sauna, pool, sleep rooms, basketball court (for whoever’s into that lol) Everyone for the most part is polite and cordial, and i’ve never ever had a single issue with any of the staff, they’ve always been super polite, friendly, and helpful. The locker rooms/restrooms are also pretty clean, i’ve never felt there was an issue with hygiene or cleanliness outside of a few incidents I observed from members (as people can be), but nothing that can be held against the staff!
My singular issue is just the parking, just earlier today I spent 15 minutes waiting, took the long way around and was told I couldn’t stay in UT parking without a permit (even though it was after 3), and waited in front of the Gold’s for another 15-20+ minutes. I gave up and left after a total of maybe 30-45 minutes just trying to get into the gym.
Parking is limited with maybe 15-18 spots maxxxxx, and if you’re like me and we don’t like risking a ticket or towing, the other parking area isn’t exactly reliable. It’s been maybe 3/4 times now that i’ve waited over 20 minutes for a spot, and after that I ended up just giving up and going home after wasting all that gas waiting.
all in all: staff support is 100% great, never had an issue. cleanliness/hygiene from the professional end of Gold’s Gym is also like 100% even 98% of the fellow members are super considerate, clean, and polite. only observed a couple of incidents that made me question humanity lol. but that’s just people people-ing anyway.
the only issue is really just the parking. for paying like $50/55 or whatever a month, it’s definitely the only thing that makes me think twice. not sure if there’s just people who aren’t gym-goers parked there, or if it’s really just not a super functional space, but there has to be some like actual, official, physical permit or something 😭 just to make sure everyone who’s there is supposed to be, and to properly give access to the “other” parking without concern.
and additionally, I do wish there were extended hours. It’s not a complaint, and obviously I understand that people want to go home, but it would be nice 😭 I work 9am-10.30pm 4-5 days a week so it does definitely cut into my gym availability. So when in my only available times I can’t get in due to parking it can be suuuuper...
Read moreI am absolutely thrilled to share my incredible experience at Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center! From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted by the manager, Monica, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
The staff at Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center—especially Lester—are truly the heart of the gym. Every single person I interacted with was friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that I had an exceptional experience. From the front desk staff to the personal trainers, everyone was eager to help and offer guidance. The sense of community and camaraderie among the members is palpable, and it's clear that the staff genuinely care about each and every person who walks through the door.
But what really sets Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center apart is the incredible selection of equipment and facilities. The gym is spacious and well-maintained, with a vast array of cardio machines, free weights, and strength-training equipment. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, there's something for everyone at Gold's Gym. I was particularly impressed with the variety of group fitness classes offered, from yoga and Pilates to spinning and kickboxing. The classes are always well-attended and led by experienced instructors who are passionate about helping you achieve your fitness goals.
The layout of the gym is also incredibly well-designed. The equipment is spaced out in a way that makes it easy to move around and find what you need, and the locker rooms are clean and well-appointed. The gym also offers a relaxing atmosphere, with comfortable seating areas and a peaceful ambiance that makes it easy to unwind after a workout.
Some people will complain about outdated equipment, but this location is slowly updating the oldest equipment. I have no concerns.
This location is unique in that it has a track that connects to the larger jogging trail around the medical center. There are also soccer fields, softball fields, and a tennis court. Although I have never tried it, there is an outdoor swimming pool.
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Gold's Gym San Antonio Medical Center and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive and motivating fitness community. The friendly staff, plentiful equipment, and nice layout make it the perfect place to achieve your fitness goals and...
