The park is infested with thieves. The City of San Antonio takes alot of pride in attracting the tourist, and yet, does nothing to deter the population of homeless thieves in Milam Park and under the 35 Under pass. They are like roaches all the way to the McDonalds on Houston street near the Motel 6. It is horrible. The Market Square shops are continuously robbed. The homeless male/female duos work in pairs. The male will ask to see an item up high on the wall, and while the shop attendant (elderly shop keepers as well) are busy, the woman walks in and takes the purse that is under the desk near the cash register. Those homeless individuals live that way because they choose to. They steal. They lie. They cheat. They are drug addicts, alcoholics, felons, prostitutes, and have no morals or care about anything, except how to scam an innocent tourist. The Market Square (new building with the food court) is the one that deals with this "infestation" on a daily basis and it's shop keepers suffer because of the lack of city interest to clean up the area. The New Market Square has security at the doors, but all they do is "protect the property". In other words, dealing with bums defecating in the building, on the sidewalks, etc. Their are other blue uniformed security guards walking around in the morning, but beware, the hour between five p.m. and six p.m. is when those homeless trolls start snatching purses. There are so many of them, it would take a more than a dozen police officers to clear the area. The park reeks of urine, the tables are populated by the homeless in the late afternoon up until eleven p.m. at night. City of San Antonio Mayor needs to clean this area up. Those so called "needy homeless" need to stay within a certain area at the Haven for Hope. They should be BANNED from the Market Square area, Milam Park, Pico de Gallo, Golden Star, Via Station, McDonalds, the whole perimeter squared. I would not let my children anywhere near any of these places, because of all the sex offenders existing in this...

More than any other thing.
The City of San Antonio and Bexar county along with the state of Texas need to create free housing for every homeless person in the state.
When you visit the park just remember that you yourself are barely surviving. If you subsist on a company for a paycheck you are fundamentally unsound financially.
Almost all of the homeless you see in the park have no social structure. No family or friends. It's true that a majority of them are drug addicts. Substance abuse is treatable, it is possible to help all these people on the streets.
However, it doesn't benefit the powers that be who lie through their teeth to remain in power (Senators Cruz and Cornyn). Instead of doing right by the people they abuse all of us. Even those who supposedly have financial security.
So to any of the visitors, mostly those who wander downtown with their freshly made United States Air Force Airmen and Airwomen. The families of those brave kids full of honor and pride.
Can you imagine that kid of yours strung out on drugs sleeping in that park?
If you're able to then you might be able to go back home to wherever in the country your from and make sure that all of your elected officials get voted out.

Read moreIt’s smack dab in the middle of the city, so don’t expect lush landscapes or anything like that. Although there are trees and some grass.
There are plenty of picnic tables to eat at, and lots of benches to hang out on and enjoy being outdoors.
There’s a crushed granite walking trail that goes around the edge of the park, but the park only sits on two city blocks, so it’s not really a great place to hike. More of a hang out and have lunch and enjoy the day type of place.
Also a decent playground for the little ones.
You can read some historic info about Ben Milam here, and check out one of the oldest former burial grounds in San Antonio. Check out the blue bench area on the east side of the park and read the information and memorial for all those that were buried there.
It’s literally across the street from Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital and within walking distance from the courthouse and city hall, so it’s a good outdoor lunch hangout for those that work in the...
