I should have shared this two years ago, but I was so upset by my experience I just wanted to "move on" and I don't like to post negative things (and rarely/never post). But, now after yet ANOTHER AMAZING experience at a newer Spa nearby, I just have to say something. I went to Therapie a few times with friends, etc. Parking was a hassle, but their sitting room and services were OK. But, the last time I was there - it was a literal NIGHTMARE. My therapist had an awkward personality (no biggie) but it was odd. Then, I asked if I may listen to my audio book (on low volume or in my ears) and she seemed put off as she was "forced to listen?" to something she did not chose during MY time? No idea. But, in the middle of the massage at flip over time - she randomly discontinued the massage and said "she has to protect herself" or something. It was NUTS. I wondered if I accidently flashed her boobs? (I keep panties on and who cares if she could see anything while I flipped over?). Anyway, she literally made it seem like I did something highly offensive. She terminated the massage and I had to get dressed and leave. She literally "hid out" in a side room and nobody would tell me what happened. I was SHAKEN and humiliated and questioned everything and was left wondering what I could have done?! NOW, after YET another wonderful and beautiful experience at a nearby spa, NORMAL as all my experiences have ever been, (and which I went online to celebrate and thank and celebrate the massage and the amazing customer experience) - I realize it was NEVER me and Therapie deserves to be called out. Management never even called me, even though I asked the front desk to please ask them to call me. What's crazier is that a friend paid for the massage and wanted me to have a wonderful day and I could not even tell him how weird and awful it was as it was so humiliating. It was unacceptable - from the awkward masseuse - and downright mean and passive aggressive (or whatever that was) to the management never calling to discuss what the heck happened, leaving me to not only have a terrible day but never knowing WTH?! I have been "gifted" massages and ask for referrals a few time since and I only say NEVER to go there, which I will continue to do. For those who had a good experience - I get it. I had several there without incident. But, this was an unacceptable experience by a person I believe had something literally "wrong" with her and, even on a good day, terrible customer service. But, to make an innocent client feel like I DID something to offend her - and for nobody to tell me or ever call to communicate with me after the fact, is even worse. I literally hate this place. It kept me from getting a massage for a year or so, I was so shaken. Thank God I have moved past it as Pt Loma/OB and may places in this world have wonderful talented people working there and much more beautiful and comfortable settings than Therapie Day Spa.
(Not spell checking - this already took more time than I ever wish to give this terrible place again). P.S.S. Also, PARKING SUCKS and they rush you if you are with friends trying to enjoy the space that is allegedly for "hanging out". They have no business calling this...
Read moreI was a member here for over a decade and the membership has doubled in price in that time with steeper restrictions. Benefits expire within 6 months despite costing over $100. The massage therapists used to almost all be outstanding but now there has been high turnover with most of the best long standing therapists leaving. I booked a couples massage and neither of us had a good experience. I felt really connected to this space as it has been there for me in a lot of hard times but I can’t keep up this very costly membership when I don’t feel valued as a client.
I hadn’t mentioned the cancellation policy because I understand that it is a standard policy. I’m only editing my review now and including this because the business brought it up and made it a focus of their response to me. They also replied to me via email and told me that more of my benefits have expired which feels like retaliation for a bad review. Regardless, a 6 month expiration window is unreasonable for an over $100 service. They do not provide any way to view or manage your benefits online. There’s no way to check how many benefits you have or when they expire without calling them. They benefit from leaving you in the dark. When benefits expire they do not notify you and your money evaporates without receiving a service for it. I’m not sure any of this is even legal considering CA has laws regarding how business have to operate memberships and one of those laws has to do with members having access to their membership information to be able to manage it online. I’m leaving a 10 year membership feeling very hurt...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of experiencing a 80 minute light/Energy work session with Minerva, the Reiki master and energy healer at Therapie Spa, and it was truly transformative. Initially, I was skeptical about the effectiveness of energy healing, but Minerva's skills won me over completely.
During the session, I felt a profound sense of heaviness lift from my shoulders and chest, and my breathing became noticeably easier. Almost two weeks later, I still experience a remarkable sense of lightness and clarity. Minerva's ability to create a comfortable environment and provide clear guidance made the process incredibly smooth and insightful. The unexpected emotions and images that surfaced during the session contributed significantly to my healing. Loved slowly recovering in a separate hospitality/welcome room for before/after services.
Therapie Spa is absolutely worth the drive from Los Angeles. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for genuine healing and a chance to reconnect with their body and cleanse their energy. I will definitely be returning for another session and recommending it to others. Minerva is the real deal, and her work is exceptional.
I also look forward to trying out...
