I absolutely LOVE my Redcord training sessions with Justin – so happy it's now a part of my weekly workouts. I'd tried Pilates reformer classes before, and liked isolating muscle groups and working on my balance – but I felt sometimes like my core wasn't always strong enough to actually get the most out of some of the workouts. So when I found out about Redcord suspension training, I was curious about trying it to see if I could better understand how my other muscles compensate for each other, and to improve my core strength (Justin's Redcord studio is located at Custom Fit, where I was already doing personal training).
After six sessions, I really truly feel a difference in my body – and the sessions are A LOT of fun!! Justin has helped me discover imbalances in my body, and has helped me correct those movements. For example, we discovered that I'd often lean toward the left side of my body – and I'm a lot more even now. I'm also thrilled that I now understand how much my lower back was compensating for my abs before – and now my core is a ton stronger and I feel I have that mind body connection with my core, for the first time! I work at a computer most of the day, and have noticed that since starting Redcord sessions, I don't have the dull back pain/discomfort that would start toward the afternoon. AND I feel like my posture is a lot better now – and that I'm standing taller with my shoulders back, just naturally as a result.

Read moreBack in September of 2013 I injured my right knee terribly. Doctor's diagnosis ranged from torn meniscus to chondromalacia patella. Regardless, I went from working out 5-6 days a week to zero. As someone who has worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years, this was an average person's equivalent of not being able to brush your teeth for 8 months. It was depressing and immeasurably frustrating to watch my weight plummet along with my spirits.
Upon a recommendation from a friend, I visited Justin at Rebalanced SF. I'll admit I was skeptical at first. I come from a heavy lifting gym background and didn't know how these slings and pulleys were going to help my knee, but I was literally at the end of my rope.
Justin thoroughly questioned me regarding my symptoms and was meticulous when observing how my body responded when I was suspended by the redcords. Through his skillful teaching I was able to get the rest of my body to do the work while my bad knee was supported. This kept me from exacerbating my injury and gave me a great workout as well.

Read moreIf I could give Justin 6 stars, I would. He's that good. I started working with him 2 months ago because I have a L5/S1 disc herniation with radiating sciatic pain down my leg. I had done Physical Therapy, Acupuncture, 3 steroid injections and a whole lot of sitting around before I found Justin and discovered the virtues of Red Cord. I wasn't able to walk more than a block without squatting down to make the pain go away. In short, I was seriously contemplating starting a very serious medication and potentially doing surgery.
In just 10 sessions with Justin I've turned a corner. He patiently diagnosed me and I started seeing results after the 1st session. He has carefully built a regimen to gradually retrain me to walk and reposition my pelvic tilt by strengthening my core, glutes, hamstrings and adductors through the magic of Red Cord (and I believe it is truly magical). On top of that, he is a wonderful, generous human, and has given me confidence that there is truly a light at the end of the tunnel.
This weekend, I walked my dog around Bernal Heights Hill, something I didn't appreciate 6 months ago. I truly have Justin to thank. Now that we are moving out of the pain room, I'm going to continue training with him to improve my posture and strengthen my core.
