We booked a last minute snow shoe tour near Taos, NM with Angelisa through the Heritage Tours website. Because we were within 24 hours, we had to call and book by phone. The representative was super helpful and was able to confirm our booking within a few minutes.
The wilderness guide met us at our hotel and within 20 minutes we were at the trailhead. The equipment was current and in great condition. Angelisa was thorough in her instruction and answered all of our questions with utmost patience! Being local, we were very interested in some insider knowledge on how to do this activity on our own and she was super helpful in providing insider tips, locations to explore, and how to explore the hobby more. We couldn’t have been more happy with our guide experience! The path was mild to moderate in effort (if you stayed in the powder it was much more challenging than if our hung out in the packed snow). The forest was in pristine condition and we weren’t bothered my motorists or other machine operated recreators. This truly was a very accessible way to see Carson in winter!
We concluded our tour with sandwiches from Monzanitas (we provided our orders to Heritage the day before) and hot teas/cocoa. The food was yummy and the company inviting!
We highly recommend the the snowshoeing tour if you want to see Carson in winter and receive an excellent introduction to the activity. Based on our experience with this tour, I imagine their hospitality and knowledge extends to their other services as well - stay tuned for our reviews of these...

Thank you for the tour on March 22, 2024. We appreciated that you tried to make the best out of the given circumstances. We have no doubt that you are an amazing tour guide — knowledgeable and upbeat.
That being said, we felt that the tour was underwhelming and definitely not what we signed up for when we paid around $450. We would have appreciated prior communication regarding the closure of the Taos Pueblo, especially since it seemed to be their annual off-season, as opposed to an unplanned closing for a funeral, for example. While the chocolate shop was a nice touch, we do not think it can be considered equivalent to a UNESCO world heritage site.
We would like to note that this business practice contrasts sharply with that of Food Tour New Mexico. They communicate with their clients ahead if they are unable to meet the minimum number required by the restaurants and refund in full in that case.
If we may, we recommend clear communication with clients prior to the trip about the availability of the experience as outlined on the webpage. We would also appreciate a (partial) refund as our experience did not meet our expectations, but understand that the event...
Read moreTook the amazing day tour to Chaco Canyon. Paul H. was our most wonderful guide. The day started with a bit of breakfast at Hotel Chaco (another wonderful place) and then a very comfortable drive out to the national park. This was a bucket-list trip for us and it did not disappoint! Paul served as our driver and very knowledgeable guide. Reading materials were provided to us, as well as, an opportunity to look at several books on Chaco Canyon that Paul brought along for our perusal. We visited several locations within the canyon, had a delicious lunch on shaded picnic tables in the middle of this majestic and spiritual place (so incredibly memorable) and also spent time at the small national park museum. It was a very warm day, but Paul prepared us well (he called us the night before) and made sure we had plenty of water throughout the day. This tour left an indelible mark on us. Thank you Paul for your knowledge, reverence of our nation's indigenous and...
