What a neat little museum. It's located in the Civic Center Mall, and right across from the spiral staircase. Once you come in, it's basically one small room to the side with a display of what a classroom would look like back then with a video playing. From there, you can walk in a circular path. There's interpretive signs and artifacts hung on both walls, and they have other historical displays so you can see what life was like at the time. While you could walk through everything in just 5 minutes, there was so much to read and see- it took me about 45 minutes to finish perusing. The volunteer docents there were very welcoming. Read moreHoused in the charming Little Red Schoolhouse, this museum is absolutely adorable. It radiates that small-town feel I love—quaint, welcoming, and full of character. Though modest in size, it offers a rich and engaging history of Scottsdale, packed with interesting facts and thoughtful displays.
My favorite parts were the reimagined rooms from eras gone by—they really transport you. Even better? Admission is free. I made a final donation in the cash box and signed the guest book on my way out, feeling grateful for the experience.

Read moreThe Scottsdale Historical Museum is actually a schoolhouse from the area when it was first settled. They have lots of photographs and small displays which are all really neat. It's a very small Museum but it's free and it's definitely worth taking a stroll around inside for a half an hour. The man who was working at the front door, his grandparent actually attended that school which was really neat so he had a lot of historical information to share.
