Had a great stay at the Charlroy motel. This was our first visit to this property. The hotel we usually go to was closed down and we really like this area of Seaside Park, so we figured we would give the Charlroy a try. The reviews were a mixed bag here on trip advisor so I wanted to let you know what we thought. | Check in time was quoted between three to four o’clock but was told we could pre-check in at noon and park the car and get beach badges for the beach and use the pool at the hotel. You need to put a deposit of 70.00 per badge but get that money back when you turn in the beach badges. This was a big savings since seaside park charges 13.00 a day per person. | We arrived at noon and pre- checked in and had the pleasure of meeting Giselle ( hope I spelled that right ). She was very nice and helpful. We said we were going to the beach and she let us know she would text me and let me know when the room was ready. By the time we got packed up to head to the beach, she came out and found us in the parking lot and told us that the room was ready, was not even 12:30. She gave us our room keys and we decided to go put our things in the room and check the room out.| We booked a family room because it had a private balcony. The room was so much bigger then we are used to staying at other hotels in the area. Room had two queen beds, full size bathroom with a big bath/ shower, fridge, microwave, nice size TV, plenty of storage for all your things, and a nice size balcony. Room was super clean and AC worked well. From the balcony you could see the ocean and the boardwalk area. Had 2 chairs and a little table on the balcony. We really like a balcony. Great for having some bloody Mary’s in the morning, eating lunch , having some drinks before we headed out for the night.| The hotel has a ice machine in the lobby for you to use. They also offer free bagels and coffee each morning. Bagels were fresh and had a nice selection along with butter and cream cheese. Even had a toaster for your bagels. Bagels were just enough to hold you over till lunch time. They have a nice size pool area with loungers and pool was clean. | Our TV was not working right when we got to the room so I went down and told Giselle and she introduced me to another employee named Ed, he was also very friendly. He came right up to the room and replaced the TV in less then 10 minutes and showed us how to use the remote control. | Later that evening I met Diane who was at the front desk and she was just as nice and friendly as she was on the phone with me when I made the reservation. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner Cheryl and I think her husband. They were both very friendly and had a nice conversation with them. We made the right choice choosing this hotel, only wish we tried it sooner. We made a reservation for next year before we left. | I do not understand some of the negative reviews of this place. I think the people writing the negative reviews need to realize this is seaside NJ, it’s not a Hilton or Hyatt hotel and will find that if you are nice to the people at the hotel they will treat you great and try to make your stay a great one. | The location is the main reason we tried this hotel. It is literally right across the street from the beach. You can be sitting on the beach in 5 minutes. It is also about a block to the boardwalk but the location is more peaceful for a good nights sleep. The other guests at the hotel were friendly . The location might have been the reason we chose this hotel but it definitely was the staff that made the visit special. We have found are new go-to hotel for our vacations in seaside. Thanks to all the staff, we will...
Read moreMy family and I stayed there last week. Stella (front desk) was wonderful! She was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The location was ideal for us as we loved being across the street from the beach. We love using pools when we travel and were very excited to jump in. Unfortunately, the water was so cold. Other hotel guests we talked to on-site said the same thing. I did see a response to a recent review stating that they don’t heat the pool when the temp is in the high 70s/80s. I would recommended checking the water temperature if guests request the heater be utilized. We wanted to love our stay and talked about returning later in the summer, but the water felt like a cold plunge vs a refreshing dip. Our kids love swimming and typically go in for hours when we travel. They weren’t in the pool long. My husband and I did not swim at all. I did check with Stella about the possibility of heating the water and she said she’d find out. Again, she was wonderful. I don’t think she had any control over the situation though. The ocean temperature couldn’t be controlled, but the pool could have. Beach passes were available with a credit hold (standard in the area). We did use them and enjoyed some time in the sun and sand. Hopefully we’ll be able to swim next time we are in the area. The water was just too cold for most beachgoers last week, but that didn’t deter us from listening to the sounds of the waves and one of our kids dug in sand joyfully. The beach access was easy, especially with the extended walkway on the sand providing an easier roll of our beach cart. We have stayed in Seaside Heights in past years and decided to try Seaside Park this time. We loved the more peaceful vibe. When we wanted to go on the boardwalk for dining, games or rides, it was only a couple of blocks away. The bagels provided daily were fresh and delicious. It was nice to not have to leave the motel to grab a quick bite. The WiFi was challenging to connect to from inside our room. I work remotely, so that was not ideal. We were able to connect poolside and up on the sun deck, but not in our room consistently. We did have an issue with an additional hold on our card that was not discussed with us prior to placing it. Had it been mentioned, we would not have taken issue with it, but there wasn’t any communication about it until I received an alert from one of my financial apps and inquired at the desk about it. Stella looked into the issue as she was not aware of the situation. The amount was reasonable given the concern that was shared with us, but not communicating with us that a hold would be placed was not ok. The pending charge was released a few days after our departure. The room amenities were nice. The bedding was sufficient and comfortable overall. There was some minor wear in the room, but very normal for beach motels that are...
Read moreCame here with my family for a week vacation. We chose to come here as we stayed here before and were very pleased. However this visit will definitely be our last. We asked if we could extend our stay one extra night and we were told no problem however they made it an issue. We were told at that time we needed to replace two mattresses and a floor in the room. And pay 1,000$ at 930 at night or we will be asked to leave. We have three kids two being under the age of two and they expected us to drive back home that night. They proceeded to go in our room with a black light and would not provide us with their reasonings for this or any proof whatsoever. It was to the point the next morning we got up packed our belongings and left a day early of our vacation. Bad enough we took pictures of everything before we left so the owner cannot try to rob more money from us. The rooms are out of date. The plumbing is out of date the tub drained was awful the water was up to our ankles in the shower. The toilet is low to the floor and from the 1960s. Found some water damage and mold in the room. Was not going to make a big deal of it until the way we were treated. My wife was getting phone calls from the motel while we’re out on the beach trying to enjoy our stay. We were locked out of our room with all of our belongings in there. I got them to let us back in but they were hell bent over 1,000$. Beds are uncomfortable too. When they wanted to charge us the $1,000 stories were fabricated and never matched. Next vacation to seaside will be staying elsewhere as will everybody we know that visits this area.
EDIT** For some reason this wont let me reply to your response so I’m going to leave that rite here. To start off we did respond right away so I am not sure where you got you had to chase us down for two days prior to reaching us. We never had unregistered guests in the hotel room or on the premises. No one was upfront about damages as we were told many different stories. We asked about the process of the investigation of so called “damages” and were told that they needed to be reviewed by you prior to us seeing them. All while demanding over $1,000. We were then told we had to leave regardless. Why would someone agree to pay over $1,000 when proof was not being shown. Also I am not sure what phone number and email you had been contacting because no numbers or emails that were left for you to contact had received any communication since the day we left. I am not sure where you get your information from but I think you need to have it checked for correctness. Next time we will be staying at another location where small children and young adults are not discriminated against. Hope you have a good day and find comfort in screwing other families as had been stated in other reviews.
We will keep an eye out for that...
