Buckle in, this is gonna be a thorough review.
My experience with Dr. Sajan and team was absolutely wonderful. They are truly a caring and dedicate team who put the patients first while makes sure to be very thorough, sometimes even to an obnoxious degree, haha.
I started this process out being a non resident of Seattle, seeing as I am from NJ. I was able to use Dr. Sajan’s website to guesstimate the price of my surgery. Luckily my insurance paid for a good portion of my procedures, but it was still nice to see they offered this feature from the start. After I requested the cost, associates from the office reached out and I was able to set up a consultation with Dr. Sajan.
Dr. Sajan was a bit late for our consultation but he did make it at some point and the process explanation was pretty straight forward. He knew what size implant I should go with and he explained how the BBL process would go as well. This experience was short and sweet and after this I was contacted by a specialist from their surgery office named Sharlene. After a frustrating start to getting this insurance process started, Sharlene really went above and beyond to remain transparent and as informative as she could. We were able to streamline the process from the point moving forward. She made sure I had completed all the necessary forms to ensure a positive outcome from insurance and because of her experience and knowledge, everything came back approved. While this process did take a little time, she had informed me what this timeline would look like, and even to my surprise, things actually happened a little faster.
Once everything was approved, we set up a date and then the process got a lot easier. You submit a deposit at that time and they send you multiple emails about what the next steps are. They made sure I had a caretaker and she joined us on our pre-pre-surgery appointment. They went over everything in great detail. Every med you’ll be taking, even picking out your pharmacy and sending those prescriptions over that day. The recovery process is explained in great detail and at this point there really wasn’t much left I had regarding questions.
Fly in for surgery the day before and also has a pre-op appointment that day as well. They go over a lot of the same material again, just to make sure you’re very aware of what’s to come.
Surgery day was great. Aside from the typical challenges of what surgery brings, the entire team was there to help. They took great care of my caretakers when you arrive at the office, offering them a slew of beverages (very nice touch). They warmly welcomed my caretakers back to go over the process once again and left room to have them ask any additional questions.
Before long it was surgery time. I only remember falling asleep and waking up. Once I woke up, they took great care of me and seeing as I was super disoriented, they were very patient with me and safely guided me back to my caretakers.
At my first post-op appointment, which is the day after surgery, they fully examined me to make sure everything was looking right. And then at my last post-op appointment they continued with great care. My nurses throughout this process all offered compassion, encouragement and kindness. This is obviously an experience that could make anyone anxious, but I felt respected and cared for the entire process. Same with Dr. Sajan as well. He was very warm and kind and welcoming as well. He was very clear about making sure he was going to put his best foot forward to help me achieve the results I wanted and I can say with absolute certainty that I have and more. While I still have weeks of recovery, I’m elated so far with my results and know they will continue to improve as I heal.
You are in fantastic hands with Dr. Sajan and team, so do not worry about the quality of care you’ll receive. I’m here to tell you plainly, you’re in amazing hands and you’re going to be obsessed with...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start because I have so many amazing things to say about Dr. Sajan and his office staff. From the very beginning of my plastic surgery journey I was treated so kindly. His office stays open until 9pm which I found so convenient as a working parent and student being that it was sometimes hard to call during regular 9-5 hours. I did have to wait about 2 months for a consult but I was fine with that because I just knew he was going to be the doctor I went with. The more and more I tried finding a doctor to meet expectations elsewhere the more I gravitated to Dr. Sajan. Being from WA State, I knew my options were Seattle, Oregon or Spokane however, I couldn’t find anyone I felt comfortable doing my breasts. I spent a lot of time researching Dr. Sajan’s credentials, website and stalking his IG page. He is very active on there which as a young patient, I appreciated because I like constant posts and Snapchat/IG stories. I’ve noticed other doctors try to do the social media scene but do poorly because they are not consistent or have quality posts. I can tell Dr. Sajan takes great pride in his work and it shows with his investment of having a social media coordinator. Don’t get me wrong, Doctor Sajan is very high energy and does the funniest tik-toks but he is very much professional and means business. He can flip from his tik-tok famous personality to a world-renowned cosmetic surgeon and I mean that! Before my breast augmentation consult, Dr did my lip filler and tear trough and I couldn’t have been happier. Since then I have gotten another syringe and will go back for another when I need to. After having my virtual consult, we chatted about my desired breast size and my concerns with surgery and he eased my mind in the decision making process. I did consult one other doctor from Vancouver however, it wasn’t a good fit and there was red flags like he did not believe in breast implant illness. RUN IF A DOCTOR DOESN’T BELIEVE IN IT! I finally scheduled surgery and just waited for the day to come. When surgery day finally arrived I was nervous and doubted myself in going through with it but was excited. Long story short, the morning of surgery I had to fast of a heart rate (140 resting) for the anesthesia provider and doctor to safely proceed with surgery so it was canceled. I was devastated and initially angry ( not at Patrick or Dr. Sajan but my local doctors back at home) but one thing that stuck with me that Dr. Sajan said was “there is a 80% chance surgery would go well but 20% is to high to risk your life. If you were my sister or cousin I would say let’s reschedule and get a cardiology clearance. So that’s what I did and 6 months later I was able to get my surgery. Looking back, I think was so blessed to have a team that cared about my well-being and health. You can’t put a price on that which is why I went with him. I should mentioned I would travel 3 1/2 hours to and from his office when I had appointments and would do it again. I’ll miss seeing Dr. Sajan and his kind staff as much as I did this year. I’ll be on his podcast in the upcoming months so stay tuned to hear my story as I have tons more to share :) I will forever recommend his office to anyone and everyone! No regrets on...
Read moreI reached out requesting a quote via the doctor's website one evening. Within an hour I was texting with a scheduler and set up a consultation for my surgery, which was gender affirming female to male chest reconstruction. The initial consultation was scheduled for a couple months out, but when they had a cancellation I was able to move up to just a couple weeks. After the consultation the surgery was scheduled 8 weeks out from then.
Everyone I spoke with was very clear and informative. They have a person on staff who just deals with insurance and she took care of everything for me. We exchanged several emails within which she was very communicative about what was needed from me. It was very helpful.
The doctor is a real "type a" personality, energetic, passionate and good at what he does, and delivers information straight and to the point. He is kind but very much all business. The rest of the staff step up to the task of warm, friendly, above and beyond customer service.
Special shout out to the anaesthetist, who was extremely friendly and funny. I have had a couple surgeries before and I have a lot of anxiety about anaesthesia, which I told him about. I thought I might need Valium or something but he just kept me occupied with conversation and played my favorite song for me while I was going under. It really kept me calm.
The surgery itself went smoothly and I am very happy with the results. Being a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Sajan has an artistic eye and understands the importance not just of alleviating dysphoria, but really creating a natural look to the chest with the shape of the incision and the location of fat left behind. For this surgery he offers 2 options, a totally flat chest look, or a masculine chest look, which was my choice. My post surgery experience went quite smoothly (I am 4 months post op at the time of writing).
Obviously this is an experience a person can only have once, so I can't really compare it to anything else, however I would definitely recommend Dr. Sajan to anyone in the area, especially transgender patients. I can definitely say I felt better supported and respected there than at many other medical facilities, so I appreciate that. The only downsides to my experience are as follows: There are 3 different locations for the practice that I had to go to for various appointments so I had to always triple check I was going to the right place. Despite the fact that I have been living as a man for years and do not have a uterus, I had to take a pregnancy test. It was awkward and I didn't receive a great explanation why.
Over all my experience was excellent, my life is indescribably better as a result of my surgery, and I can't wait to hit the beach this summer! Thank you Dr....
