Flavorless Experience
First time coming here and my wife found while we were in the area. The place had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was nice after we sat down we found that the menu to be kind of limiting with a heavy focus on beef dishes. However I recently gave up beef and pork a few months prior and my wife became a vegetarian about the same. Needless to say our options were limited. We did get recommendations from our waiter who appeared very confident in his recommendations.
We order chips and salsa to start which most places just give you but none the less we order some. The chips were ok but the salsa was bland and full of heat. Needless to say we asked for salt and lime to help fix up a bit. For our main course my wife ordered vegetarian tacos with butternut squash which were way to sweet. I ordered the chicken mole with green mole sauce. The sauce was good, but the chicken was bland and seem to have no real flavor. Both our dishes came with beans and rice both were very bland and we had a bunch of salt to it to actually hav any kind of taste. We decide to forgo dessert and leave. We didnât finish our dishes but did take the remaining home.
Since we were not yet full or satisfied we went to a local taco truck we passed on the way to find the place and had a much more fulfilling experience. I would say this place caters to a great particular crowd and we definitely not it. There are plenty other places to to and you wonât miss anything by passing...
Read moreMy first dining experience at El Camino was amazing! When I first walked in, the festive, cozy atmosphere was a welcomed strong contrast from the deluge of rain. I was greeted kindly at the door by Stephanie when I asked to sit at the bar. I sat in front of the service well and Samantha, the bartender, was fantastic! She was pretty busy, but was so kind and attentive to my needs and was also very knowledgeable about the food and beverage menus. I was torn between the chile relleno burrito and the birria burrito so she guided me towards the latter, which was so flavorful! I almost finished the entire thing when she told me to save room for dessert and I'm glad I did because the Pastel de Tres Leches was also awesome -- it was airy, moist, and not too sweet. Her drink suggestions were also very well made and appealing to my palate; I had the Grande Mezcal, a shot of Casa Noble, and the Mexican Holiday Egg Nog to end my night. Overall my experience was a 10/10 -- the vibes were just right, the food and drinks were awesome, but the staff is the reason why I'll be going back soon. And on that note, I would also like to shout out Stephanie and Thomas as well. Thank you everyone for making my first experience with El Camino a memorable one and I will be back to try out the chile...
Read moreWe order the guac, salsa, chips, and I order the carne asada tacos. My friend ordered one of their burritos. My food was alright. Tacos were cold and had to be sent back. My friends burrito was almost in edible. The burrito was so bad it made her physically. Upon my friend asking for a restroom since she was about to be sick. The manager asked her to go outside or she would have to close the whole restaurant down. So instead of making sure her customer was okay. The manager showed her the door. I was notified by my waiter that my friend was sick out front. If it wouldnât have been for him. I wouldnât have known since I was still waiting for the check. My waiter allowed me to check on my friend and come back to pay for the bill. When I went inside to pay the bill she was on the phone saying how a âcustomerâ aka my friend was puking and complaining while I was paying our bill. The manger was extremely unprofessional and uncaring. She was more concerned if I payed my bill vs. If my her customer was okay. Iâm greatly disappointed overall paying $80 dollar check with $20 dollar tip and having horrible service (regarding the manager). Our service was amazing though and...
