Barrel Thief is an absolute gem. I've gone there through a change of ownership, the pandemic and many other events and it has never managed to disappoint. It is, a tucked away phenomenal bar and restaurant.
The Whisk(e)y selection is their main attraction and outside of Cannon, MWS and Jack Rose you'll be hard pressed to find a better variety of high quality whiskies. They have you covered from Bullet all the way to 50yr Glenlivet and specialty whiskies like Whistle Pig's the Spirit of Mauve or Yamazaki.
Food changes a bit but I can't say I've had more than one dish I didn't like, and the staff is always receptive to feedback.
The titular staff is the best part and while they've changed over the years they are, and continue to be the heart of the restaurant.
Barrel Thief with it's whiskey passport, festivity nights and Whiskey vault manages to capture the atmosphere of a Speakeasy but the heart of a well worn local watering hole.
If you are in Seattle and the above intrigues you, you are doing yourself a disservice if you...
Read moreI never got service. Never got to try their cocktails. I went to the bar to ask for drinks and was informed that we were cut off because the whole patio was cut off. I can't give anything more than a one star to a place that refused me services.
Edit: The owner response is mistaken. We were roped into another party. It's not good practice to accuse your neighbors of breaking the law. After I left The Barrel Thief, Add-a-ball gave me service as well as LTD and Norm's. I am MAST certified so I know the law. We were denied service because the staff couldn't keep track of who was with who. Their response to deny service is both lazy and insulting. I have to reaffirm my decision to give The Barrel Thief a single star especially when the owner doubles down on their...
Read moreThis place is a great wine bistro. It has a dark atmosphere and plenty of subtle lighting. I went here on a Tuesday during their all day happy hour. There is a bar seating area pictured in the middle of the establishment that seemed to just ask me to read my book with a glass of red. They have a diverse food menu and plenty of cocktails and spirits. It gets loud at times but that is how you know people are having a good time. Only reason it did not receive 5 stars; despite the fact I was slowly sipping my wine reading a book, after being intially served, I wasn't checked on once by the service staff in the hour I was there.
Overall, great atmosphere and perfect for a during...
