Marcus Ashley Gallery — Attraction in South Lake Tahoe

If you want to support racism, this is your place. I got a first hand lecture on how "blackface" isn't racist. I was told, by one of their employees, that I was, "living in a different paradigm if I think that "blackface" is racist." Contacting management won't help much either, I was met with an email apology from their "operations director" Tiffany Rice saying, "Racism has never come up before. Do you have a specific wine piece you're interested in? I'd love to help you." I refuse to do business with companies that allow their employees to give these types of insults, and racist opinions. The operations manager cared more about getting me back to buy the piece I went to the gallery to purchase originally, than she did about her racist employee who made it clear that "blackface" was/is socially acceptable, and has no racist overtones whatsoever. I'm, "living in a different paradigm" if I believe that. Horrible experience. I really regret buying my daughter a piece in 2014 on our vacation to Lake Tahoe. Anthony has definitely exceeded my expectations of an art consultant. He is extremely knowledgeable about the artists in the gallery which makes it very interesting. After talking with me for a few minutes, he really understood the type of artwork that I had in mind.

Incredible gallery with an outstanding and knowledgeable staff. They carry a diverse inventory from different artists, all of which are clearly very talented.

They actually carry art, not photos printed on metal like the other "galleries" in the area. If you're in the area this is the one gallery you need to visit.

We were lucky enough to be invited back to attend an event where one of the artists they showcase was there.

Best part is it's a low pressure sales style. They don't tell you how you should feel about a piece. I can't tell you how many times we've fallen in love with pieces at other galleries and decided not to buy since the piece had sadly become associated with the annoying associate...
