05.01-05.03.24 Stayed at Marriott Timber Lodge in Heavenly Village, the double suite room in Marriott was a beautiful stay and the area including all of the shops are beautiful to stroll through.
The entire tourist area here seemed quite empty, extremely empty, which the casino staff at Harrah's said April/May are the least busy months but summertime is jam packed. Nevada state border is a block away from the Marriott so you just walk the opposite direction of shopping stores to get to Harrah's, Harvey's, Bally's, Golden Nugget, and Dottie's for Casinos, they're all like 3 blocks away.
Walked over to Heavenly Village Shopping and was disappointed, it's mostly clothing, overpriced clothing. Stores like Patagonia, North Face, Oakley, and some smaller local boutique clothing stores. Not many restaurants either. The Gondola is right there but didn't see it being used at all during our stay. Signs posted skiing was closed for the season.
Recommending visitors drive the 3-6 miles south on Lake Tahoe Dr to where the locals shop at for clothes, gifts, supermarkets, etc, where they have; Safeway, Wholefoods, Ralph's, Smart & Final, Grocery Outlet, TJ Maxx, Ross, CVS, 7-11, a lot more shopping places and definitely many more variety of restaurants. All they need is a Costco. Though be aware that in-towners seem to be quite wary of tourists.
Just a note: Lake Tahoe water is 99.99% pure and is delicious! We made coffee/tea with tap water from our suite and it...
Read moreNice relaxing village. Has outdoor live music to listen to with outdoor bars and firebits. Lots to eat from steak and lobster to the local chololate factory store. Dont worry they even have a starbucks. The view is great and if you can afford a couple hundred bucks to spend you can parasail, kyake, paddleboard, jetski, rent a boat, go ziplining, bobsled rollercoaster, or even rope coarses. A little pricey but very fun. For cheaper thrills they dp have a mini putt putt coarse in the center of the village for $10 for adults and cheaper for kids this is during the summer time, winter that spot is taken by a ice rink to skate on. Next to this activity is a trapoline - harness jump machine for the kids. The gondolla is in the dead center of the village for rides up the hill to do the ziplining and all. That is an additional fee. Alot of parking options around and everything is within walking distance even the casinos and cheaper hotels which start around $45 a night. Now i stayed at the $45 hotel and it was nice , two queen beds, coffee maker, very clean, mini fridge, heat and a/c that worked very well, cable with great channel selection, big bathroom, and best of all a nice complimentary breakfast from 6-10am with waffle makers, muffins, fresh fruit, a variety of jucies, milk, more...
