tip!: go a hour before it closes (on a weekday lol) ! no wait time, no more than ten people on the rink.
i hear you. 20$ is pricey and if you're gonna skate just for a hour, maybe that's not worth it. but i mean, IF your feet and leg starts hurting and getting tired after skating for an hour (which it does for me), so might as well do it when there's less people/of a crowd?
my experience with my companion was a great one because in addition to there not being that many people, because we came 'late', the person in the front gave us a discount so we paid kids price (15$) instead of the adult price !
they also refreshed the ice one last time around the 19:00 timeframe so yes they were kind of in the way, but the ice was really smooth for the remainder of the hour (esp cus there's not that many people) and their music jams were on point ! even though it was just an hour, we didn't feel rushed at all; even when we were told to get off the rink at 20:00, a hour is more than plenty for us.
it felt very relaxing and therapeutic to break a sweat from skating while feeling the cold crisp air with the winter lights and snow around us. great memory and...
Read moreAn older gentlemen hit their head on the ice today and the staff I felt could have done a better job handling the situation. They didn’t stop people from skating, didn’t get people off the ice or even circle an area with cones for his safety, continued to sell tickets, and were too calm in this scenario. Very disappointed on how they handled the situation. What if this was your father who fell and their grandkids are standing crying, while the business is still selling tickets, not getting people off the ice, and kids skating around - disheartening.
Other than that, the skates seem like they haven’t been sharpened in ages. We got there during the 330-5 skate session, arrived at 345 and the ice was already scratched up and old. As a skater, you’d know that all makes a difference but if you’re going just for fun I guess it doesn’t...
Read moreWhen you're in South Lake Tahoe .. ya know there's a North Lake Tahoe, right? Well .. when in the SOUTH .. and it's cold and wintry .. you have to go here. There's the rink, there's food around it, there's coffee, there's fun. Oh me? Heck no! I'm not getting on those skates at my age - I'll break a hip or a nose or something. But - my Grand Kids love that little rink, and, their Mom gets out there with them - it's all smiles. Me? I go to Starbucks and get a mocha, some pepper mint thingie for my lovely wife. Then? We come back out to the ice and take lots of pictures and yell stupid stuff (me .. not my lovely wife) at the kids and laugh at them when they almost fall. Man .. little people just don't have that far to fall so they don't breaks noses and ears and...
