TLDR: Gave one star mostly because of safety concerns, and the manager doesn’t seem to care much about it.
Pros: Convenient location. Walking distance to Heavenly Gondola, shuttle stops, and many restaurants. The room was clean during my stay.
Cons: One afternoon after skiing, I returned to my room and found the door partially open. I was absolutely certain I had locked it that morning. I'd noticed the door didn't close properly the first time I left, so I started pushing against it with the handle in different positions to make sure it was securely locked each time I left. I even hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. I reported this to the hotel manager and it took some explaining before he agreed to review the security camera footage. His wife suggested the wind might have blown the door open. This seemed impossible to me if the door was properly locked.
Below are all the possible explanations I can think of:
a) Someone could have tried to break in, but nothing was missing so this seemed unlikely. b) The cleaning staff might have opened the door by mistake (perhaps they missed the "Do Not Disturb" sign) and then failed to lock it properly. c) The door could have somehow opened on its own, which seemed unlikely.
I asked the manager to check with his staff, but he simply said they'd been working there for years and wouldn't steal anything. That wasn't really the point. He promised to review the security camera footage and call me back, but I never heard from him, even after I checked out.
Regardless of the cause, the hotel needs to address this issue. If it was a staff error, a sincere apology is necessary.
My room had constant water sounds. I’m not sure if this is only an issue with 1st-floor rooms. I had to wear earplugs to sleep. The room and closet were extremely small, making it unsuitable for more than one guest.
In summary, the hotel's convenient location and clean rooms are overshadowed by serious safety concerns and the manager's dismissive attitude towards the incident. The inadequate response to the security issue raises significant concerns about guest safety. I would strongly advise against staying at this hotel unless you are willing to accept a significant risk to your...
Read moreDO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!! You will regret it! It is the worst hotel I've been to. Very old and dirty, honestly motel 6 is a luxury compared to this place. The first room we got was upstairs, but the restroom wasn't clean, there were staples and nails on the floor, and the towels were dirty. There was also a very suspicious man standing outside on the 2nd floor almost all day smoking and watching everybody. Not sure if he lives there??? We asked for another rooom and the lady gave us one on the 1st floor which was cleaner ( apparently) because it did not have carpet but once we opened the fridge to put our food in there, the smell was so bad that we left the food in the cooler instead. The microwave was disgusting too that we couldn't use it. The lady came to "clean" the fridge with a dirty towel, no bleach or anything to disinfect it, and obviously the smell was still there. She moved the fridge to check if it was plugged and there was a lot of garbage under ( including rice). Not sure if she did it on purpose but she didn't clean well. She also said that she could bring us another microwave, but she never did. The walls, ceiling and floor are dirty and very old. The doorknob was loose and the window had a metal stick so nobody can open it. I noticed that the rooms on the right side are nicer and cleaner but maybe not. The office has a very bad smell too and the lady's appearance isn't clean. I can go on and on ,but that's enough. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS...

Give me a break - they have zero towels zero clean linen no maid or housekeeping service whatsoever - the entire hotel has a slough of " Resident Meth Users" averaging 2 pit bulls per room - the Residents regularly dig through the dumpsters and sift through people's cars when left unlocked . This is the epitome of an Indian Punjabi Motel from South Central Los Angeles right in the heart of South Lake - this like all other Indian owned properties here at the Lake lower the standard of stay and lower the lake quality of the area to a poverty drug infested level . Thank you to all the Patels and Pumjabis who think we should experience the Indian 3rd world experience while here in one of the most visited destinations in the US.
