Lotus Pho: A Hidden Gem in South Lake Tahoe 🌟
South Lake Tahoe is home to many culinary treasures, but Lotus Pho stands out as a must-visit spot for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine. 🍜
Upon entering, you’re greeted by a clean and welcoming environment, especially impressive given the high foot traffic 🚶♂️. The decor is a delightful mix of golden Buddhas and colorful paper umbrellas hanging from the ceiling 🌸🧧, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
Our meal started with fresh spring rolls filled with tofu. The rolls were fresh and crisp, and the peanut sauce was an absolute delight 🥜. We also shared a wonton soup that featured some of the best pork and chicken we’ve tasted this year 🥣. The smoky flavor of the pork really set it apart, making each bite a savory experience. The little fried wontons inside the soup were deliciously crispy and added a nice contrast to the flavorful broth 🍲.
Despite the broth being fairly generic, it was still incredibly fresh and satisfying 🌿. We paired our meal with Thai iced tea made with coconut milk 🥥🧋, which was a perfect refreshing start.
The place was packed, a clear sign of its popularity, and the waitstaff were courteous and efficient, handling changes with ease and speed 🙌. The service was top-notch, and it’s obvious that this place attracts a loyal following of diners who appreciate good food 🍽️.
In summary, Lotus Pho is a fantastic spot in South Lake Tahoe that offers a flavorful journey through Vietnamese cuisine. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a place worth...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went to Tahoe a few weeks ago to visit his mom for a few days. While we were there we were craving some Pho and this was the only place open, so we decided to give it a shot despite the 4.0 ratings (we normally don’t go somewhere unless the reviews are at least 4.3+).
The food was good, not amazing, but good. However, the service was not good. The waiter wasn’t overtly rude, but there were a a few things that happened that rubbed us the wrong way. One being that we asked if they had strawberry flavored saké, and the waiter looked at us like we were crazy. He proceeded to say that they didn’t, but before we left I went to the fridge to check and, sure enough, they did have it. Second thing being that while we were still eating our meal, the staff started stacking all the chairs in the restaurant and they still had 25 minutes until they were technically closed for the night. A few moments after this they promptly started to turn off a few lights. Tell us you want us to leave without telling us you want us to leave. Like really? We did not feel very taken care of, and felt rushed to get out. Lastly, the food was extremely expensive.
Unfortunately will not be going back to this place. I hope they improve their customer service...
Read moreI never wrote bad reviews but you guys need to know this! Literally the worst Vietnamese food I’ve ever tried and service to match . I really wanted to enjoy the restaurant we arrived at 8pm.
I asked the server for rice vinegar and chilli or fish sauce and vinegar as my wife loved that part of Vietnamese food while we visited Saigon the server said they did not do that with a grimace … The entrees came out and the short ribs had fish sauce and the pepper shrimp had jalapeños chilli so I mixed them for my wife and we were happy until the noodles came out. I asked very politely with a huge smile and please if they could work fry them with cilantro (funny as in Ho Chi Minh City it’s the norm) he look like I was asking too much. I returned to my seat to hear the kitchen staff making fun of my request. 8:45pm they even started putting chairs up around us. He then came and threw the bill on the table, just as he did with the food. I never saw my noodle dish or even I’m sorry the chefs are not capable to wok fry it with cilantro!
I’m horrid never be back and Im a Michelin star trained chef ! Prefer the street food in which is a 100 fold better and very polite service! Maybe this place wants to be famous for treating guests like this but I’m not...
