The Baked Bear — Attraction in South Padre Island

If you’ve never had a custom ice cream sandwich from The Baked Bear, stop what you’re doing and go. This place takes indulgence to the next level in the best way possible. The second you walk in, you’re greeted by the heavenly smell of fresh-baked cookies and waffles, and the hardest decision you’ll have to make all day: which combo of cookies and ice cream to go with!

Everything is made fresh—warm, gooey cookies (yes, they really warm them up for you), premium ice cream with tons of flavors to choose from, and creative toppings that take it over the top. I went with a chocolate chip and funfetti cookie sandwich stuffed with brownie batter ice cream and rolled in Oreo crumbles… and WOW. It was rich, nostalgic, and so worth every single bite.

The staff is super friendly and patient (which is a blessing when you’re overwhelmed with delicious options), and the vibe inside is fun and playful—perfect for families, date nights, or just treating yourself after a long day.

Service was outstanding! Atmosphere was friendly and fun! Great for couples, singles, and families! Food?? Out of this world!!! Completely amazing! Both of my teenage daughters gave it 10 stars! The cookie selection was fabulous. The ice cream choices were so good. Then you can add a topping too. It was absolutely the best thing we have had on the island this far. We will definitely be back before we leave.

So we decided we loved it so much, we went back before leaving town. It did not disappoint. I can confidently say, this is my favorite sweet stop on the island. We got different ice cream sandwiches this time and a half dozen cookies to take with us on the road home. I really wanted one of every cookie, but that’s too much for this momma. You have to try it. They have non-dairy options as well. There’s something for everyone. This is on my bucket list to go back to when we RV full time. I also want to emphasize that the staff is amazing!! There were some difficult folks that came in last time and the staff handled it with poise and professionalism....

Sweeet! Choose your favorite cookie(s) and a large portion of your favorite ice cream in between! Mixing and matching several flavors did not seem to be a problem and was encouraged. Add toppings for a truly decadent treat. The cookies were made fresh, soft, and delicious, and are warmed-up if you so desire. They cut the whole thing nicely in half for sharing. The sandwich was easy to eat by hand, or with a spoon while in the cardboard serving boat. One was enough to share by two and cost around $8.50. The place was extremely clean and comfortable. The ice cream can also be served atop a brownie or chocolate chip cookie bed. And both the ice creams and cookies are all specially made for this establishment.
